The Atmakaraka (AK) is the soul significator — the single planet that carries the deepest karmic instruction for this lifetime. Rules

1. Use Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn — the seven "real" planets.
2. Rahu is sometimes included in the Jaimini Chara Karaka scheme (with its degree reversed: 30° − degree). Some schools omit Rahu entirely.
3. Take each planet's longitude within its current sign (0°–30°), not the absolute longitude.
4. Rank descending — the planet with the highest degree-in-sign is the Atmakaraka.
