Varshaphal Main Screen

The Tajaka main screen in jHora is the control panel for computing and exploring Solar Return (Varshaphal) charts. It provides controls for selecting the year, sub-periods, and navigation buttons to all Tajaka-specific analyses.

Controls

The following controls are available on the Tajaka main screen:

ControlPurpose
YearThe Varshaphal year (e.g. 2026 = the solar return occurring in 2026)
MonthUsed when finding a specific monthly Tajaka (Masaphal / Maasa Chakra)
Sixty-hour periodEach monthly chart is subdivided into 12 sixty-hour periods (2.5 days each, Sun moves 2°30')
Five-hour periodFurther subdivision of the sixty-hour period for finer timing
25-min periodSub-division of the five-hour period for very precise event timing
2-min periodThe finest sub-division available for the most detailed timing
Find Tajaka ChartComputes the solar return chart for the selected year at the exact moment the Sun returns to its natal longitude
Find Tajaka Sunrise ChartUses the sunrise of the solar return day as the reference instead of the exact Sun return moment

Navigation Buttons

From the Tajaka main screen, the following buttons navigate to specialised analysis tabs:

Chart Subdivisions — Hierarchy

Tajaka provides a nested hierarchy of timing charts, from the annual level down to two-minute intervals:

Annual Chart (Varsha Chakra)

Cast for the exact moment the Sun returns to its natal longitude. Valid for one full year — the primary Tajaka chart used for all annual predictions.

Monthly Chart (Maasa Chakra)

Cast when the Sun has advanced exactly 30° from the Varsha Pravesh point. There are 12 monthly charts per year, each covering approximately one month.

Sixty-Hour Chart (Shashti-Hora Chakra)

Each month is further divided into 12 periods of ~60 hours each. A new chart is cast after every 2°30' of solar motion. Useful for precise 2–3 day event timing.

Five-Hour, 25-min, and 2-min Charts

Sub-divisions of the sixty-hour chart for the finest possible Tajaka timing. These are used when an astrologer needs to pinpoint events to within hours or minutes of a day.

Casting Accuracy — Important Note

The accuracy of all Tajaka charts depends critically on the precision of the ayanamsa (precession correction) applied. Even a small error in the Sun's natal longitude can cause a large error in the Tajaka ascendant, because the ascendant moves approximately 360 times faster than the Sun. Always use the same ayanamsa for both the natal chart and the Tajaka chart.
