Chart — Murali Mittala (Career Instability)

  • Source: v72 (detailed career chart analysis with D10 and D1)
  • Chart type: Natal + D10 (Dasamsa) career analysis
  • Question: Why does the native have career instability — 10+ job changes, currently jobless for 5 years?

Context

Murali Mittala asked PVR to analyze his career situation. He holds an MSc in Agriculture but has had severe career instability — more than 10 job changes over his career, and was jobless for approximately 5 years at the time of the analysis. The chart became a teaching example for how to analyze D10 when the 10th lord is weak, and how aspecting planets effectively "take over" career signification.

Chart Data

  • Name: Murali Mittala
  • Date of birth: October 21, 1966
  • Time of birth: 5:15 AM
  • Place of birth: Kothapudur (Tamil Nadu, India)
  • Lagna (D1): To be confirmed from chart calculation (approximately Virgo rising at 5:15 AM Kothapudur)

D1 (Natal Chart) Key Observations

  • Sun: Weak in D1 (afflicted); Sun is the 10th lord for Scorpio lagna (if Scorpio rising) — weak 10th lord = career base is fragile
  • Badhaka: Jupiter identified as Badhaka lord for Murali's lagna — Jupiter creates obstacles that are hard to overcome
  • Current dasha at time of analysis: Within a period where the primary dasha lord was not supporting career progress

D10 (Dasamsa) Key Observations

  • D10 Lagna: To be confirmed (approximately Scorpio or Virgo in D10)
  • Sun in D10: Weak — Sun is in D10's 12th house; Sun and Saturn nearly exact conjunction (very tight orb) in D10's 12th house = career suppression (12th = house of loss; Sun = career vitality; Saturn = restrictions)
  • Sun-Saturn near-exact conjunction in 12th of D10: This is the PRIMARY indicator of career loss. Saturn is pressing down on Sun (career) in the house of loss. This is why the person was jobless.
  • 10th house in D10: Empty or 10th lord weak — normal career-giving planets not functioning
  • Aspectors of D10 10th house:
    • Venus: 99% aspect strength on 10th house in D10
    • Saturn: 89% aspect strength on 10th house in D10
    • Both Venus and Saturn are the effective "career rulers" since the 10th lord is weak
  • D10 Vimshottari (from D10 Moon): In Jupiter Mahadasha; Jupiter is identified as Badhaka lord — Jupiter dasha was creating obstacles to career despite Jupiter being a generally benefic planet by nature

PVR's Analysis

  1. Why the career is bad: Sun (10th lord) is weak and severely afflicted by Saturn in the 12th house of D10. The career has no strong foundation. This is the root cause.

  2. What the career should look like: Since Venus (99%) and Saturn (89%) effectively rule the career through aspect:

    • Venus = arts, beauty, aesthetics, agriculture, comfort
    • Saturn = hard work, earth, farming, perseverance, Aquarius/Capricorn themes
    • Saturn is in Aquarius (a Saturnine sign) in D10
    • Combined reading: Venus-Saturn in agricultural-beauty/craft domain = small business in landscaping, agricultural beauty products, or earth-related craft/trade
    • NOT technology or software (which would be Mercury-Rahu dominant)
  3. Why Jupiter dasha is harmful: Jupiter is the Badhaka lord for Murali's lagna. Even though Jupiter is a natural benefic and perhaps a functional benefic by house ownership, as Badhaka it creates "hard-to-remove obstacles" — specifically in career during Jupiter Mahadasha.

  4. Remedy prescribed:

    • Propitiation of Sun is essential — "Without some propitiation of Sun, nothing is going to happen. Neither Jupiter nor Venus can do anything if the tenth lord continues to be hammered."
    • Aditya Hridayam recitation recommended — the hymn to Sun from Valmiki Ramayana; recite daily to strengthen Sun
    • Surya mantra (Om Ghrinisurya Aditya Om) as additional practice
    • Career should be redirected toward Venus-Saturn natural domain (agriculture-related business, not corporate career)

Key Teaching Points

  1. When the 10th lord is weak in D10, look to aspecting planets for the actual career direction.
  2. Dasha of Badhaka lord = hard obstacles during that period regardless of the planet's natural beneficence.
  3. Sun propitiation is non-negotiable when Sun is the career lord and is under severe affliction.
  4. Career type is read from the significations of the aspecting planets AND the sign they occupy in D10.
  5. Ajapa Japa (continuous background mantra repetition) was suggested as a supplementary practice — "even when eating lunch, at the back of my mind I can be repeating my mantra."
