Analogy used in class: When you say the word "computer," the word is the padam (tangible symbol); the exact meaning in your mind is the bhava (intangible). Listener and speaker may share slightly different inner meanings, but both can process the word.

• Can Rahu give marriage? — Yes: In Navamsa, Rahu is with Venus (karaka + Lagna lord), aspecting Upapada Lagna (UL) and Darpada (A7). Planets conjunct exchange results if not inimical; Venus & Rahu are friends → Rahu gives Venus results in his Mahadasha.

Antardasha analysis in Navamsa:

[!WARNING] Mars Antardasha (containing Aug 17, 1998) is further ruled out: Mars & Sun are conjunct in Navamsa → they exchange results → Mars gives Sun's results (11th lord in 5th — no marriage linkage); hence August 17, 1998 (Option D) is eliminated.

Exchange chain clarification:

• Mars conjunct Sun → Sun gives Mars's results; Mars gives Sun's results.
• Mars–Saturn Parivartana → Saturn gives Sun's results; Mars gives Saturn's results; Sun gives Mars's results.
• Net: Mars Antardasha = Saturn results; Saturn Antardasha = Sun results (not marriage-giving).

📊 Three-Parts Rule in Narayana Dasha {#three-parts}

The Narayana Dasha period is divided into three equal parts based on rising type:

Virgo Narayana Dasha — Three-Parts breakdown:

• Virgo = Shirshodaya (head-rising) → prefers 1st one-third for its own results
• Mercury (Virgo's lord) in Gemini = also Shirshodaya → prefers 2nd one-third
• 3rd one-third (last ~1 year: Jan 20 1999 – Jan 20 2000): results of Venus, Moon, Mercury, Rahu, Ketu (occupying/aspecting Virgo)

Order within 3rd one-third (by descending longitude):

August 22, 1999 falls in Mercury's sub-period within the 3rd one-third → Mercury (9th lord in 9th house, aspecting UL) can give marriage.

[!NOTE] Narayana Dasha three-parts analysis pointed toward Aug 22, 1999 as possible. But the Pravesha (annual return) chart gave decisive clarity, overriding this initial Narayana Dasha analysis.

🪔 Annual Pravesha Chart — Decisive Confirmation {#pravesha}

[!IMPORTANT] Pravesh chart (annual lunar return) is the most reliable technique for timing specific events within a year. When multiple dasha techniques yield ambiguous results, the Pravesha chart resolves them.

Analysis of the 1997 Pravesha chart (Lunar birthday: ~Feb 9, 1996 → covering up to ~Jan 28, 1997):

• Hora lord (ruler of the year): Venus
• Venus (5th lord) is in the 7th house with Lagna lord → conjunction in 7th → marriage strongly indicated
• Raja Yoga between Venus & Mercury (~9° apart) in 7th house, both aspecting Lagna
• Navamsa of annual chart: Lagna strong (Lagna lord Mars in Lagna); 7th lord Venus in 9th house conjunct UL

Dasha running on May 9, 1997 (Option C): Venus Mahadasha · Mercury Antardasha

• Venus–Mercury form Raja Yoga in the 7th house of the annual Rasi chart
• From Venus, Mercury is in 11th house → bhoga is in 5th (Purva Punya — auspicious event from past merit)
• The window Venus MD / Mercury AD = only ~11 days; one of the four puzzle dates falls exactly in it

📊 Kasinath Hora Chart (D2) — Correct Interpretation {#d2-kasinath}

Two versions of D2 — The Controversy

The misinterpretation: Parasara said Sun Hora and Moon Hora. Scholars assumed Sun Hora = Leo, Moon Hora = Cancer (the signs Sun and Moon own). The correct reading: Sun and Moon own two halves of the zodiac (six daytime-rising + six nighttime-rising signs), not just two individual signs.

[!NOTE] The name "Kasinath Hora" was given by Sanjay Rath to distinguish this from the popular (wrong) version, naming it after his guru Kasinath Rath.

D2 — What It Really Shows

[!IMPORTANT] D2 is NOT the "money chart." The Sanskrit term Parasara used is Sampada = ability to accomplish things / resources at one's command. Money is one resource; political influence, connections, speech, knowledge — all are resources.

Analogy used in class: When N.T. Rama Rao became Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (1983), his Gemini Narayana Dasha in D2 started — Gemini contained Gati Lagna (showing power/access to influence). Political power = resource = D2 domain.

• 2nd from AL = how resourceful you appear to the world
• 5th from AL = reputation for capability / tribe (excellent placement for power)

• Strength of 2nd lord (Rasi) in the D2 chart = indicator of overall financial success

Special Rule — Exalted/Debilitated Planets in D2

"Sakin ucce nike va strimanta" — Parasara: if any planet in D2 is exalted OR debilitated, the person accomplishes much financially.

• Exalted: money comes easily, person is happy about it
• Debilitated: money comes through effort/sadness, but still comes

Taurus Dasha outcome: Period ran 1951–1962. India's independence brought Nehru govt. Dalmia's newspaper criticized Nehru; he was imprisoned; govt took over companies. He died a broken man. Exactly as the dasha indicated: death of the financial life.

[!WARNING] When 7th lord (Maraka) is in 8th house in D2: financial life suffers a death blow. From AL, Mars in 10th house = world sees aggressive, unreasonably warrior-like behavior → causes downfall. Both factors converge in Taurus Dasha.
