🏹 Sagittarius Lagna — Dhanus {#sagittarius-lagna}

Dhanus (Sagittarius) is ruled by Jupiter, a natural benefic. The lagna itself being a trikona, the lagna lord Jupiter owns two auspicious houses — but his other lordship, the 4th, is a kendra. The key distinction is whether Jupiter becomes yogakaraka or merely neutral. His lordship of the kendra (4th) alongside the lagna (1st) means he avoids the kendrādhipatya dosha because he owns the lagna itself.

🐊 Capricorn Lagna — Makara {#capricorn-lagna}

Makara (Capricorn) is ruled by Saturn. Saturn, as the lagna lord, also owns the 2nd house. This makes Saturn both lagna lord and 2nd lord — but the 2nd lord is theoretically a maraka (killer). Parashara addresses this: the lagna lord cannot be a self-killer. Saturn for Capricorn is thus not a maraka.

[!IMPORTANT] Venus is the sole yogakaraka for Capricorn lagna — she is the only planet that simultaneously rules a trikona (5th) and a kendra (10th). This repeats for Taurus and Libra lagnas where Venus holds a special elevated position.

[!NOTE] Mercury, despite owning the 6th (a trishadaya), is classified as a benefic because: (1) his other lordship is the 9th (dharma trikona), and (2) Mercury is a natural friend of lagna lord Saturn. The 9th lordship outweighs the 6th.

🏺 Aquarius Lagna — Kumbha {#aquarius-lagna}

Kumbha (Aquarius) is co-ruled by Saturn and Rahu (modern), but in classical Jyotisha, Saturn is the sole lord. Saturn owns the lagna (1st) and the 12th. As lagna lord, Saturn is a first-order benefic.

[!WARNING] Maraka (killer) combination for Aquarius: Jupiter (2nd lord), Sun (7th lord), and Mars (3rd lord with malefic associations) form the principal killers. 🐟 Pisces Lagna — Mīna {#pisces-lagna}

Mīna (Pisces) is ruled by Jupiter. Jupiter owns the lagna (1st) and the 10th (kendra). As lagna lord, Jupiter is inherently benefic. His 10th lordship also does not create kendrādhipatya dosha because he simultaneously owns the lagna trikona.

[!IMPORTANT] Mars is theoretically the 2nd lord (a maraka) for Pisces, but Parashara teaches that Mars is NOT a real killer for Mīna lagna. Real marakas are Saturn (11th+12th) and Mercury (4th+7th).
