Calculation: In odd signs — divide 30° into five 6° segments, starting Bala from 0°. In even signs — reverse the order (last 6° = Bala).

[!NOTE] The formula is not absolute. Vivekananda achieved greatness in his thirties; Adi Shankara mastered all Vedanta before age 20. A planet in Bala avastha is not necessarily unable to give results — context matters.

Nuance: Not all planets sleep the same. A Sattvic planet like Jupiter in Nidra may still have a "light sleeper" quality, while a Tamasic planet like Saturn may enter Kumbhakarna-deep sleep. Benefics in Nidra are less dangerous; malefics in Nidra may actually be a relief.

😤 Mood-Based Avasthas

[!TIP] Mood-based avasthas are more important than age-based or alertness-based avasthas in PVR's assessment — a happy planet gives results eagerly; a depressed planet drags results.

🌙 Sayanadi Avasthas — The Most Important

These describe what activity the planet is currently engaged in. All ten states are symbolic:

• Sabha is great for Sun, Jupiter, Mercury (scholars, wise ones) — they belong on a podium.
• Sabha for Saturn = out of place; he belongs arranging things below the podium, not on it.

Look at both Rasi and D30. Mental disability impacts physical life, so Rasi is relevant. D30 will show the specific weakness with tell-tale combinations.

Charting a Newborn Immediately

Q: Is there a convention against pulling a chart immediately at birth?

PVR's assessment: The convention likely exists for practical reasons (birth time uncertainty; better to observe some life events first for rectification). But many scriptures show rishis making charts at birth. If there are Balariksha combinations or longevity concerns, making the chart immediately is warranted (e.g., to recommend Ayush Homa on the 21st day). Rule is not from solid scriptural authority.

Moola Nakshatra — Moon vs. Lagna

Q: If Moon is in Moola Nakshatra, is the remedy required? What about Lagna in Moola?

The Amukta Moola doshas described by Parasara apply primarily to Moon (mind), not Lagna.

• Moola is ruled by Nirriti (the demoness) — mind under demonic influence is the concern.
• Lagna = seat of intelligence; less easily controlled by demonic forces than Moon.
• Moon is more critical here than Lagna.

[!IMPORTANT] The goal is NOT for the function to go smoothly. The goal is the boy's spiritual progress. The most critical moment is the Brahma Upadesha — when the Savitri Gayatri Mantra is whispered into the boy's ear. That is the Muhurta. Everything else is procedure.

Savitri Gayatri is the foundational mantra that purifies the nadis of the Sukshma Sharira, enabling the person to receive any future mantra. It must be done at the right time.
