🌍 Kurma Chakra: Natural Disaster Prediction

A student asked about predictions for 2012 disasters in the "southeast corner" of the world. This prompted a detailed explanation of the Kurma Chakra technique.

What is the Kurma Chakra?

Kurma means turtle. The Kurma Chakra divides the Earth (or a country/region) into nine parts — eight cardinal/inter-cardinal directions plus a central part — imagined as the body of a giant turtle:

Static vs. Dynamic Assignment

Traditional (static) approach: Fixed mapping of nakshatras to directions (e.g., Krittika always = East). Whenever Saturn transits in a "southern" nakshatra, there will be trouble in southern India.

PVR's finding (dynamic approach):

"You don't take a static mapping. You take the star containing Lagna in the chart. That's the beginning. Lagna shows east."

For any mundane chart (national, regional, or worldwide), take the star containing Lagna as East, then proceed through the 27 nakshatras, grouping them three per direction. This makes the mapping dynamic — different each year for each chart.

Practical Application for India

• Geographical center for India: Not Ujjain but Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh (slightly east of Ujjain, adjusted for the fact that Pakistan and Afghanistan were once part of India).
• Geographical center for the world: Mount Meru (near the equator in Kenya) — as proposed by Vinay Jha and confirmed by PVR through research.

Lunation Chart as the Key Mundane Chart

PVR tested ten different mundane chart types (solar new year, lunar new year, new moon, Ardha Pravesha, etc.) and found the best correlation with major disasters (earthquakes, tsunamis) in the Chaitra Shukla Pratipada chart (Lunar New Year) made for the geographical center of the region.

Sarvabhauma Chakra Integration

After identifying geographical zones at risk via Kurma Chakra, use the Sarvabhauma Chakra of the lunation chart to identify which nakshatras have badly-placed planets (malefics in difficult positions). The geographical regions mapped to those nakshatras are at elevated risk.

For confirming earthquakes specifically: Also check higher divisional charts D40 and D60 of the lunation chart. (These are reliable for mundane charts because the birth time is astronomically precise.)

[!WARNING] Generic statements like "southeast corner will be bad in 2012" should be "taken with a pinch of salt." Different dashas bring problems to different areas at different times. There may be a tsunami somewhere, an earthquake elsewhere, a volcano in yet another region — all in the same year. The technique must be applied specifically to each event type and each region.

🔄 Sudarshana Chakra Dasha: Theory

Parashara declared that Sudarshana Chakra Dasha (when combined with Ashtakavarga) is the best technique for daily, monthly, and annual predictions in Kali Yuga.

How It Works

The Sudarshana Chakra Dasha progresses three reference points — Lagna, Moon, and Sun (the tripod of life) — at the rate of one sign per year:

The Dasha is computed as follows:

1. Find the sign containing Lagna in the divisional chart of interest.
2. Find the sign containing Moon.
3. Find the sign containing Sun.
4. In year 1 of life, those are the three Dasha signs.
5. Year 2: the next sign from each.
6. Year N: the N-th sign from each starting point.
7. Every 12 years, the cycle repeats from the same signs — but results differ because the Dasha Pravesh Chakra (entry chart) changes.

Dasha Pravesh Chakra

For any year N of the Sudarshana Chakra Dasha, cast a chart for the exact moment the Dasha begins (the person's Nth birthday at the exact time of the Sun's return to the natal degree). This is the Dasha Pravesh Chakra. Judge everything from this entry chart — not the natal chart.

How to Judge the Dasha Pravesh Chakra

Look at the divisional chart of interest (D10 for career, D9 for marriage, etc.) for the Dasha Pravesh Chakra. Apply these rules:

Find which houses become strong (or weak) from all three reference points (progressed Lagna, Moon, Sun). When all three agree that a house is strong, the results of that house will be granted during the year.

🔑 Sudarshana Chakra Dasha Antardasha: Key Innovation

The Problem with Standard Antardasha Calculation

In standard Sudarshana Chakra Dasha, the Antardasha would start from the Dasha sign itself. But this means the Mahadasha and Pratyantaradasha readings become identical — both start from the same reference sign. This does not work in practice.

PVR's New Approach

"In the Dasha Pravesh Chakra, see where Lagna, Moon and Sun are, and progress from there."

Step-by-step:

1. Cast the Dasha Pravesh Chakra (entry chart for the year).
2. Note the actual Lagna, Moon, and Sun signs in this entry chart — call these the three seeds.
3. For Antardasha N of that year: take the N-th house from each of the three seeds. These three signs are the Antardasha references.
4. Cast the Antardasha Pravesh Chakra (entry chart for that Antardasha start).
5. Judge the Antardasha Pravesh Chakra from the three Antardasha reference signs.
6. For Pratyantaradasha: repeat — find Lagna/Moon/Sun in the Antardasha Pravesh Chakra as the new seeds.

[!TIP] The key difference: Each level's "seeds" come from the actual luminaries in that level's entry chart — not from the natal chart or from the Dasha sign itself. This creates a chain: natal → Dasha Pravesh → Antardasha Pravesh → Pratyantara Pravesh, each with fresh luminaries.
