Background: Completed a finance degree, then switched to a medical (MBBS) programme which he is not completing.

10th house in Rashi: Two retrograde planets, one being the lord of the sign — strongly tied to teaching / Jupiter-related fields (teaching, academia).

Relevant Dasha sequence:

• Running: Sun–Jupiter (Antarddasha)
• Upcoming: Sun–Saturn → then Moon Dasha

• Mercury = nervous system, earthy element, grounding/balance
• Moon = Manah Karaka (significator of mind)
• Either afflicted Mercury or afflicted Moon causes mental disturbance
• Here: Mercury is Badhaka lord in Trimsamsha Lagna — one indicator is enough

[!IMPORTANT] The teacher's principle: "Either Moon or Mercury has to be afflicted for mental/nervous instability. One clear affliction in Trimsamsha is sufficient."

Current Dasha: Sandhya (Sun–Mercury junction period) — the most dangerous window:

• Sun Dasha + Mercury Antardasha, or Mercury Dasha + Sun Antardasha
• Both are malefics in multiple charts simultaneously running → compounded risk

Rationale for Pushyaragam (Yellow Sapphire / Jupiter's stone):

For Sun (6th lord, Badhaka partner):

Surya Ashtakshara Mantra from Surya Upanishad:

Mantra analysis:

• 8 letters (akshara): Om (1) + Hrīm (2) + Surya (2) + Āditya (3)
• Prathama Vibhakti form — not a prayer "to" Surya, but a declaration of Surya → grants inner strength, soul strength
• Sandhi rule: Suryah + Āditya = Surya Āditya (visarga drops before vowel)
• Pronounce either as one compound word or as four separate words; no pause in the middle of the compound form

For Sun + Mercury combined:

Why Rama satisfies both:

• Rama = Surya Avatara → propitiates Sun
• Rama = Vishnu Avatara → propitiates Mercury (Vishnu's planet)
• One mantra covers both afflictors simultaneously
• Chanting Sri Rama Rama Rama for one continuous hour daily = equivalent to Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram (per the shloka: Sri Rama Rāmeti Rāme Rāme mano rame)

Practical guidance: If the patient cannot do it himself, parents (father or mother) can do it on his behalf with the mental sankalpa directed toward his health.

Palana Devata Determination

Method: Amatyakaraka (Mercury) → find its placement in Navamsha → take 6th lord from there → determine the Palana Devata.

Steps for this chart:

1. Mercury (Amatyakaraka) is in Gemini in Navamsha
2. 6th lord from Gemini = Mars (+ Ketu conjunct)
3. Mars is in Pisces (Jupiter's sign), aspected by Jupiter, Mercury, and Moon
4. Jupiter's influence dominates (Mars in Jupiter's sign)

Palana Devata candidates:

Final recommendation: Hanuman — because Jupiter's influence dominates Mars (Mars in Pisces = Jupiter's sign), Hanuman satisfies both the Martian energy and the Shiva/Jupiter connection.

[!TIP] The teacher clarifies: The common teaching that Palana Devata must be female (Dasa Mahavidya) is a convention, not a universal rule. Mahavidyas are Moksha deities, not primarily for material sustenance. Any deity can serve as Palana Devata based on the chart.

If doing Sri Rama Rama Rama, Hanuman is automatically satisfied — no separate Hanuman mantra needed.

Birth Data & Rectification Challenge

Rectification approach: Given 5-minute uncertainty, begin with as-given Navamsha. If events don't fit, trial-adjust. Use both Janma Vimshottari and Lagna Vimshottari simultaneously — reconcile by tracking which events each explains better.

Jupiter in Gandanta: Jupiter is at the junction of a water/fire sign — a structurally weak position amplifying negative results when Jupiter's Dasha/Antardasha runs.

Dasha System: Janma vs. Lagna Vimshottari

Decision: Use both Janma and Lagna Vimshottari concurrently. Lagna Vimshottari seems to explain career/financial events better; Janma Vimshottari explains mind-related and health events better.

Teacher's principle:

"Moon = window through which the world influences you (reactionary). Lagna = how you influence the world (individualistic, action-oriented). Both are indispensable; they illuminate different areas of life."

• Saturn = 3rd lord (breaks, instability) — consistent with losing the factory

[!NOTE] Student question: "Saturn is well-placed from Arudha Lagna — shouldn't that be good?" Teacher's response: Saturn's placement from AL may give a "fighter" image (6th from AL = fighting), but being with two malefics and as an inherently negative planet for this Lagna, the material results of Saturn Dasha are still harmful.

Health Analysis — Diabetes, Arthritis, Jupiter in Gandanta

Conditions:

• Diabetes since 1989 (onset in Rahu Dasha)
• Severe throat problems since ~2003–2004
• Arthritis in all fingers — cannot sign without severe pain
• Insulin-dependent since ~2004

Planetary basis:

Trimsamsha analysis:

• Saturn (11th + 12th lord) in 4th house afflicting Moon and Sun
• All three malefics — Saturn, Rahu, Ketu — afflict Sun and Moon in Trimsamsha
• This confirms deep, structural vulnerability in health

D-6 (Shashtamsha) — Rahu Dasha confirmation:

• Rahu = 2nd lord (Maraka) in 8th house
• Eclipsing 7th lord Moon and 8th lord Sun together with Ketu (Badhaka)
• Rahu–Ketu giving physical trauma (bus accident 1982) and systemic illness makes clear sense

Prognosis & Tithi Pravesh

Near-term prognosis (at class time, mid-2006):

• Current year (Tithi Pravesh): Mars as Hora lord in 8th house in D-10; Sun + multiple planets in 12th → big professional loss, direction unclear
