🕉️ Class 83 — Three Live Charts: Marriage Timing, Child's Character & Career Dasha Selection

Three live charts are analyzed in this class: a woman seeking marriage, a toddler whose parents were told he would become a criminal, and a young software engineer who just got his first job. Across all three, the unifying theme is dasha selection — finding the one dasha (from Lagna, Chandra Lagna, or Surya Lagna; Vimshottari, Shodashottari, Dwadashottari, or Ashtottari) that explains known events with internal consistency, then using it confidently for prediction.

📜 Dasha Applicability Rules Recap

These rules from Lomasa Maharshi (as discussed in prior classes) govern which Nakshatra dasha to use for any divisional chart:

Hora Paksha Dasha
Chandra Hora + Shukla Paksha Moon is bright = Chandra thriving Vimshottari (standard from Krittika)
Surya Hora + Krishna Paksha Sun + dark moon = opposite pair balanced Vimshottari from Ardra
Chandra Hora + Krishna Paksha Both Moon references dark/negative Shodashottari
Surya Hora + Shukla Paksha Both references bright/positive Shodashottari

Hora determination:

  • Odd (male) signs: 1st half = Surya Hora, 2nd half = Chandra Hora
  • Even (female) signs: 1st half = Chandra Hora, 2nd half = Surya Hora

Special overrides (check first, before Hora/Paksha rule):

  • Sun in Lagna → Sashtiayoni Dasha
  • Lagna Vargottama → Saptarishi Dasha
  • 10th lord in 10th → Dwadashottari Dasha
  • 7th lord in Lagna / Lagna lord in 7th → Chaturthamsha Dasha
  • Rahu in kendra/trine from Lagna lord (not in Lagna itself) → Ashtottari Dasha (from Krittika if Rahu alone; from Ardra if Rahu with other planets)

[!NOTE] All of these conditions can be checked from Chandra Lagna as well as from Lagna. When Moon is demonstrably stronger than Lagna in the divisional chart, apply conditions from Moon.

💍 Case Study 1 — Marriage Timing (Female, Palm Springs, 1981)

Birth data: 16 August 1981, 05:31 AM (PDT, 7h west of GMT) Place: Palm Springs, California — 116°32'40"W, 33°49'49"N Lagna: ~21°31' Cancer Moon: ~9°56' Aquarius Question: When will she get married? Multiple matches not materializing.

[!NOTE] Software data entry: "Palms" (a different town) vs "Palm Springs" (two words). Be precise when entering city names in jHora — it finds the nearest lexical match, which can give wrong coordinates.

Factor Assessment
Lagna lord (Saturn in Navamsa) Debilitated BUT has Neecha Bhanga; aspects Lagna by 10th aspect — partially redeemed
7th lord In fall; in 6th from 7th house — weak 7th house signification
Venus (Yogakaraka) In Advitra Rashi (great friend's sign); 5th lord well-placed — strong benefic
Sun (8th lord) + Ketu Within 2.5° in Navamsa; afflicting 3rd house (initiative, Vikrama); 9th from 7th house of fortune for marriage — biggest weakness
Moon In 12th house — unfavorable
Saturn (debilitated) Slight weakness
Mercury (6th lord in 6th) Harsha Yoga — Mercury is actually well-placed; 6th lord in 6th = good

Net assessment: Chart is functional with notable weakness from Sun-Ketu conjunction in the 3rd (9th from 7th). Marriage is possible but finding a suitable match requires effort. Venus being Yogakaraka in Advitra Rashi is the strongest positive factor.

Dasha Determination (Navamsa)

Navamsa Lagna: ~1st half of Capricorn → even sign, 1st half = Chandra Hora Paksha: Krishna Paksha → Rule: Chandra Hora + Krishna Paksha = Shodashottari Dasha

[!IMPORTANT] If you use Vimshottari here instead of Shodashottari, you get Rahu-Mitra Antardasha which is hard to justify for marriage. Shodashottari gives Venus Mahadasha — which is perfectly logical: Venus is Yogakaraka in Advitra Rashi.

Dasha (Shodashottari of Navamsa) Period Assessment
Venus Maha 2010–2027 Excellent — Yogakaraka, Advitra Rashi, 5th lord
Within Venus: favorable windows Before March 2013 Strong chance of marriage
Sun Maha (following) 2027+ Caution — Sun is 8th lord afflicted by Ketu; some tension if married in Sun period

Prediction: The next ~18 months from the class date are a very strong window for marriage. If marriage happens before March 2013, it falls in Venus Maha (ideal). After that, Sun Maha brings complications. Act during Venus-Venus or Venus-Moon Antardashas for best results.

👶 Case Study 2 — Child's Character (Male, Vasant Vihar, 2009)

Birth data: 15 December 2009, 12:08 PM EST (5h west of GMT) Place: Vasant Vihar (entered as Boston area for coordinates: 71°03'37"W, 42°21'30"N) Lagna: ~5°06' Pisces Concern: Another astrologer predicted the boy will become a criminal/goonda and will be estranged from parents.

[!IMPORTANT] The prediction of criminality was almost certainly based on Amavasya Yoga (birth on New Moon) alone. Parashara's maxim that "those born on Amavasya will be either great saints or great criminals" is a thumb rule — not a deterministic prediction. The full chart must be assessed.

Rashi Chart Assessment

Factor Planets Interpretation
Amavasya Yoga Sun + Moon within ~1° Remedy required (see below)
Gandanta Sun Sun at Gandanta (sign junction) Physical health risk (bones, accidents) during Sun Dasha; not evil nature
Mars + Ketu 6th house (Purva Punya / 5th house area) Past karma indicators, not inherently malefic for character
Lagna lord Jupiter 12th house (Aquarius) In fruitful sign for Jupiter; 12th = giving, contemplation — not criminal
9th lords (Mars + Ketu) 6th house Debilitated Mars, but...
5th lord Moon 9th house Vijaya Yoga (debilitated planet forming Neecha Bhanga Raja Yoga)
Parivartana: Mars ↔ Moon 5th/9th lords exchange Auspicious — Dharma and Purva Punya lords exchange = spiritual strength
Gajakesari Yoga Jupiter (Lagna lord) + Moon (5th lord) in mutual kendra Fame, wisdom, good character

Arudha Lagna analysis: 3rd and 6th from Arudha Lagna contain only Jupiter (3rd). No malefics near AL. → Gentle, saintly disposition, not aggressive.

Dasamsa Analysis

Factor Detail
D10 Lagna Sagittarius
10th lord Mercury In 7th house, own sign (Gemini or Virgo) — strong
Lagna lord Jupiter In 3rd house — aspecting 9th and 7th
Rahu in 10th Mercury's sign — Mrigashi Dasamsa = cutting-edge or underground work
11th lord Exalted — supports Kama Trikona (business)

Career signature: Strong 7th and 11th → business is better than service. Mercury in own sign in 7th = trader, businessman. Rahu in 10th in Ananta Dasamsa = spiritual/mystical component to career.

Vimshamsa (D20) — Spiritual Assessment

6th lord in Moolatrikona, aspecting Lagna lord → decent spiritual chart. The Parivartana between 5th/9th lords in the Rashi chart confirms this is a chart oriented toward Dharma and spirituality, not criminality.

Required Remedies

[!WARNING] Two doshas (afflictions) require ritual rectification:

  1. Amavasya Dosha Shanti — Homam as prescribed by Parashara for Sun-Moon conjunction; worship of Sun and Moon with their mantras; specific homam with Parashara's prescribed Moon and Sun mantras.
  2. Sankranti/Gandanta Dosha Shanti — Puja for Sun at sign junction (bones, accidents risk during Sun Dasha).

Recommended deity worship: Chamunda / Chandi — indicated by debilitated Moon (Cancer) and debilitated Mars (Scorpio) in Parivartana. Their Parivartana involves Scorpio and Cancer — fierce goddess signs. Chandi Saptashati (Devi Mahatmyam) is the ideal upasana for this child. Parents should learn and recite it first, then teach the child when old enough.

"If this kid can do Chandi Path regularly, he will be completely unstoppable — because the Parivartana between the 5th and 9th lords, two benefics as friends, will become supremely auspicious for him."

Foreign Settlement Question

Evidence Indication
Rashi: 9th lord Mars in Jal Rashi, aspected by 12th lord Rahu Foreign travel / water-crossing
Rashi: Lagna lord Jupiter in 12th house Giving, living abroad
Chaturthamsha: 9th lord Mars strong; co-9th lord Ketu in Jal Rashi aspected by Rahu Settlement in foreign country
Dasamsa: 12th lord Saturn + 9th lord Mercury in Samamsa Rashi Abroad career connection

Verdict: Good chance of settling abroad. Relationship with parents will be normal to good (5th/9th Parivartana, 9th lord strong).

💼 Case Study 3 — Software Engineer's Career (Male, Visakhapatnam, 1989)

Birth data: 1 January 1989, 14:07 PM IST (5h30m east of GMT) Place: Visakhapatnam Lagna (D10): ~12° Aries → Surya Hora (odd sign, first half) Paksha: Shukla Paksha (birth chart) Event: Got first job June 26, 2011 (software engineer)

Dasamsa Career Signature

Factor Detail
10th lord Saturn In Lagna (Aries) — aspecting 10th house
6th lord Mercury Exalted in 6th house (Virgo) — Harsha Yoga
Rahu in 10th Mercury's sign — cutting-edge technology
Moon + Mercury In Mrigashi Dasamsa

Career type: Software engineering in cutting-edge technologies — Mercury (logic, software) + Ketu/Rahu (electronic systems, advanced tech) perfectly fits.

Why Standard Shodashottari Failed

Surya Hora + Shukla Paksha → Shodashottari Dasha Running Dasha at time of job: Ketu Maha, Ketu Antardasha Ketu = 8th lord in 7th house → makes no sense for getting a job. Shodashottari does not explain this event.

Regular Vimshottari: Venus Maha, Mercury Antardasha → Venus is 2nd/7th lord in 4th. Some sense but not strong.

The Chandra Lagna Solution

Moon in D10: ~5°42' Leo → Leo is the Chandra Lagna in D10.

From Chandra Lagna (Leo):

Condition Checked Result
Moon's Navamsa (D10 × D9) Moon is in Taurus in D10-Navamsa = Venus Amsha
Venus Amsha condition Dwadashottari Dasha applies
Running Dasha Mercury Maha, Saturn Antardasha
Mercury = 6th lord exalted in 6th Perfect for getting first job (service)
Saturn = 10th lord in Lagna, aspecting 10th Perfect for starting career

Dwadashottari Dasha of D10 (from Chandra Lagna) explains the event beautifully.

Additionally, from Chandra Lagna: Lagna lord (Sun) and Rahu are in mutual quadrant in D10 → Ashtottari Dasha also applies. Rahu is not alone (with Saturn) → start from Ardra.

Ashtottari Dasha (from Ardra, Moon-based) Running Dasha Assessment
Mercury Maha started Oct 2009 Mercury-Mercury Antardasha at time of job Mercury = 6th lord exalted = excellent for service job

Both Dwadashottari and Ashtottari (both from Chandra Lagna) give Mercury and Saturn as the dasha lords — both perfectly explain the job event.

Chara Dasha Confirmation

Chara Dasha of D10: Leo Dasha running at time of event.

  • Leo = 5th house in D10 (Aries Lagna)
  • Contains Raja Yoga: Lagna lord + 4th lord together
  • Taking Leo as Lagna: Yogakaraka Mars in Lagna; Sun (5th lord of that Leo-Lagna) in 5th house
  • Transits at June 26, 2011 from Leo: Jupiter (5th lord from Leo) in Aries transiting in 9th from Leo and aspecting Leo; Venus + Mars in 10th from Leo (career house) in transit
  • Lagna lord Sun in 11th from Leo with 11th lord → labha (gains) in transit

All three dasha systems (Dwadashottari + Ashtottari from Chandra Lagna + Chara Dasha) converge and confirm the event. Chara Dasha uses transits from the Dasha sign for further validation.

🎓 D24 (Siddhamsa) Education Analysis

Background: Same native (Visakhapatnam, 1989). Got combined Bachelor's + Master's degree in Computer Science in May 2011.

D24 Lagna: Either ~Libra or ~Scorpio (time ± a few minutes)

Scenario Comparison

Lagna Special Condition Dasha
Scorpio (Sun in Lagna) Sun in Lagna Sashtiayoni Dasha
Libra (10th lord Moon in 10th) 10th lord in 10th Dwadashottari Dasha

Sashtiayoni (if Scorpio): Venus Maha, Sun Antardasha — Venus = 10th lord in 8th. Not a strong fit.

Dwadashottari (if Libra): Moon Maha (10th lord in 10th), Venus Antardasha at May 2011.

  • Moon = 10th lord in own house → education leading to career (10th house = career-related education)
  • Venus = Lagna lord giving Raja Yoga with Yogakaraka Saturn → excellent fit

Rectification: Time adjusted to 14:05 PM → Libra as D24 Lagna is confirmed.

Why Computer Science?

Factor Evidence
Mercury (9th lord) Aspects D24 Lagna — intellectual/logical domain
Saturn-Venus in Gemini 9th house Lagna lord + Yogakaraka; Gemini = Mercury's sign
Mercury aspects 2nd house Gemini influence on education (2nd house = learning)
2nd lord Mars In Mercury's sign
Co-2nd lord Ketu Computer/technology associations

The entire chart pivots around Mercury and Gemini → computer science, mathematics, logic.

D24 Chara Dasha Confirmation

Running at May 2011: Sagittarius Dasha

  • Sagittarius = 3rd house in D24 (Libra Lagna)
  • Taking Sagittarius as Lagna: Lagna lord + 4th lord (Jupiter) + 5th lord (Mars) together in 10th house → Raja Yoga in 10th from Sagittarius
  • Transits from Sagittarius at May 2011: Jupiter + Mars transiting Aries (5th from Sagittarius) — natal Raja Yoga repeats in transit in 5th house of education/intellect

Chara Dasha of D24 corroborates: Sagittarius Dasha with Jupiter-Mars transit in 5th = auspicious for education milestone.

🧠 The Chandra Lagna Principle — When It Dominates

From this class's examples, a clearer picture emerges of when Moon-based conditions take precedence:

Condition Lagna Dominates Chandra Lagna Dominates
Lagna vs Moon strength Lagna has strong 10th house, multiple benefics Moon is in a powerful sign (Leo with Mars in friendly placement)
Lagna sign affliction Lagna is clean (no afflicting nodes/malefics) Lagna has Rahu or debilitated Saturn in it
Special dasha from Lagna Makes perfect sense with known events Makes little or no sense
Practical test The Lagna-based dasha explains 2+ known events The Moon-based dasha explains all events; Lagna-based dasha gives nonsensical results

[!TIP] The golden rule: If you have 2–3 known events in the same life domain, test each candidate dasha against them. The one that explains all events with simple logic (not tortured reasoning) is the right dasha. Use it confidently for prediction.

"There is no perfect formula. But the thumb rule is: see if Lagna or Moon is stronger, and from the stronger one, apply the condition."
