📜 Dasha Applicability Rules Recap

These rules from Lomasa Maharshi (as discussed in prior classes) govern which Nakshatra dasha to use for any divisional chart:

Hora determination:

• Odd (male) signs: 1st half = Surya Hora, 2nd half = Chandra Hora
• Even (female) signs: 1st half = Chandra Hora, 2nd half = Surya Hora

Special overrides (check first, before Hora/Paksha rule):

• Sun in Lagna → Sashtiayoni Dasha
• Lagna Vargottama → Saptarishi Dasha
• 10th lord in 10th → Dwadashottari Dasha
• 7th lord in Lagna / Lagna lord in 7th → Chaturthamsha Dasha
• Rahu in kendra/trine from Lagna lord (not in Lagna itself) → Ashtottari Dasha (from Krittika if Rahu alone; from Ardra if Rahu with other planets)

[!NOTE] All of these conditions can be checked from Chandra Lagna as well as from Lagna. When Moon is demonstrably stronger than Lagna in the divisional chart, apply conditions from Moon.

💍 Case Study 1 — Marriage Timing (Female, Palm Springs, 1981)

Birth data: 16 August 1981, 05:31 AM (PDT, 7h west of GMT) Place: Palm Springs, California — 116°32'40"W, 33°49'49"N Lagna: ~21°31' Cancer Moon: ~9°56' Aquarius Question: When will she get married? Multiple matches not materializing.

[!NOTE] Software data entry: "Palms" (a different town) vs "Palm Springs" (two words). Be precise when entering city names in jHora — it finds the nearest lexical match, which can give wrong coordinates.

Navamsa Strengths and Weaknesses

Net assessment: Chart is functional with notable weakness from Sun-Ketu conjunction in the 3rd (9th from 7th). Marriage is possible but finding a suitable match requires effort. Venus being Yogakaraka in Advitra Rashi is the strongest positive factor.

Dasha Determination (Navamsa)

Navamsa Lagna: ~1st half of Capricorn → even sign, 1st half = Chandra Hora Paksha: Krishna Paksha → Rule: Chandra Hora + Krishna Paksha = Shodashottari Dasha

[!IMPORTANT] If you use Vimshottari here instead of Shodashottari, you get Rahu-Mitra Antardasha which is hard to justify for marriage. Shodashottari gives Venus Mahadasha — which is perfectly logical: Venus is Yogakaraka in Advitra Rashi.

Prediction: The next ~18 months from the class date are a very strong window for marriage. If marriage happens before March 2013, it falls in Venus Maha (ideal). After that, Sun Maha brings complications. Act during Venus-Venus or Venus-Moon Antardashas for best results.

👶 Case Study 2 — Child's Character (Male, Vasant Vihar, 2009)

Birth data: 15 December 2009, 12:08 PM EST (5h west of GMT) Place: Vasant Vihar (entered as Boston area for coordinates: 71°03'37"W, 42°21'30"N) Lagna: ~5°06' Pisces Concern: Another astrologer predicted the boy will become a criminal/goonda and will be estranged from parents.

[!IMPORTANT] The prediction of criminality was almost certainly based on Amavasya Yoga (birth on New Moon) alone. Parashara's maxim that "those born on Amavasya will be either great saints or great criminals" is a thumb rule — not a deterministic prediction. The full chart must be assessed.

Rashi Chart Assessment

Arudha Lagna analysis: 3rd and 6th from Arudha Lagna contain only Jupiter (3rd). No malefics near AL. → Gentle, saintly disposition, not aggressive.

Dasamsa Analysis

Career signature: Strong 7th and 11th → business is better than service. Mercury in own sign in 7th = trader, businessman. Rahu in 10th in Ananta Dasamsa = spiritual/mystical component to career.

Vimshamsa (D20) — Spiritual Assessment

6th lord in Moolatrikona, aspecting Lagna lord → decent spiritual chart. The Parivartana between 5th/9th lords in the Rashi chart confirms this is a chart oriented toward Dharma and spirituality, not criminality.

Required Remedies

[!WARNING] Two doshas (afflictions) require ritual rectification:

1. Amavasya Dosha Shanti — Homam as prescribed by Parashara for Sun-Moon conjunction; worship of Sun and Moon with their mantras; specific homam with Parashara's prescribed Moon and Sun mantras.
2. Sankranti/Gandanta Dosha Shanti — Puja for Sun at sign junction (bones, accidents risk during Sun Dasha).

Recommended deity worship: Chamunda / Chandi — indicated by debilitated Moon (Cancer) and debilitated Mars (Scorpio) in Parivartana. Their Parivartana involves Scorpio and Cancer — fierce goddess signs. Chandi Saptashati (Devi Mahatmyam) is the ideal upasana for this child. Career type: Software engineering in cutting-edge technologies — Mercury (logic, software) + Ketu/Rahu (electronic systems, advanced tech) perfectly fits.

Why Standard Shodashottari Failed

Surya Hora + Shukla Paksha → Shodashottari Dasha Running Dasha at time of job: Ketu Maha, Ketu Antardasha Ketu = 8th lord in 7th house → makes no sense for getting a job. Shodashottari does not explain this event.

Regular Vimshottari: Venus Maha, Mercury Antardasha → Venus is 2nd/7th lord in 4th. Some sense but not strong.

The Chandra Lagna Solution

Moon in D10: ~5°42' Leo → Leo is the Chandra Lagna in D10.

From Chandra Lagna (Leo):

Dwadashottari Dasha of D10 (from Chandra Lagna) explains the event beautifully.

Additionally, from Chandra Lagna: Lagna lord (Sun) and Rahu are in mutual quadrant in D10 → Ashtottari Dasha also applies. Rahu is not alone (with Saturn) → start from Ardra.

Both Dwadashottari and Ashtottari (both from Chandra Lagna) give Mercury and Saturn as the dasha lords — both perfectly explain the job event.

Chara Dasha Confirmation

Chara Dasha of D10: Leo Dasha running at time of event.

• Leo = 5th house in D10 (Aries Lagna)
• Contains Raja Yoga: Lagna lord + 4th lord together
• Taking Leo as Lagna: Yogakaraka Mars in Lagna; Sun (5th lord of that Leo-Lagna) in 5th house
• Transits at June 26, 2011 from Leo: Jupiter (5th lord from Leo) in Aries transiting in 9th from Leo and aspecting Leo; Venus + Mars in 10th from Leo (career house) in transit
• Lagna lord Sun in 11th from Leo with 11th lord → labha (gains) in transit

All three dasha systems (Dwadashottari + Ashtottari from Chandra Lagna + Chara Dasha) converge and confirm the event. Chara Dasha uses transits from the Dasha sign for further validation.
