🔁 Review: Drekkana Counting Rules

• Spouse of sibling → Upapada of that sibling's Drekkana Lagna (not 7th house)
• Children of sibling → 9th from that Upapada (children are the dharma of marriage)

👨‍👩‍👧 Mother-in-Law of Sibling in Drekkana

Rule: Mother-in-law of a sibling = 4th from sibling's Upapada in the Drekkana chart.

The 4th house naturally signifies mother; from the Upapada (sibling's spouse), the 4th shows that spouse's mother (i.e., sibling's mother-in-law).

[!NOTE] As you go further away from the native (sibling → sibling's spouse → sibling's mother-in-law), prediction accuracy reduces. Broad character assessments are possible; precise timing is not.

Worked example (student chart, Taurus Lagna Drekkana):

• Taurus = even sign → count backward
• Elder sibling: count 11 backward = count 3 forward → Virgo Lagna for elder sibling
• Elder sibling's Upapada falls in Gemini (A12 from Gemini Lagna per Mercury's placement)
• 4th from Gemini → Virgo with Saturn in it

Interpretation: Saturn in the 4th from Upapada suggests some friction between the sibling's wife and her own mother (Sun and Saturn in Upapada area = politically opposite natures — Sun and Saturn repel each other like father and son at opposite ends of the political spectrum).

🌊 Graha Malika Yoga — Student Chart Analysis

Student (Maitri) has a Graha Malika Yoga from Venus to Moon in the Rasi chart (consecutive signs occupied by planets — at least 4 in a chain).

Key observations:

• Venus = Atma Karaka and 9th lord (Dharma, religion)
• Moon = terminus of the Yoga
• Venus Dasha has just started

AK Dasha Principle

[!IMPORTANT] The Vimshottari Dasha of the Chara Atma Karaka is typically materially difficult but spiritually excellent. The AK's agenda is liberation (moksha), not material prosperity. If the native resists spiritual growth, the AK forces harsh lessons. If the native embraces spirituality, the Dasha flows well.

Graha Malika Result for Maitri

• Seed planet (Venus): 9th lord = Dharma, religion, ritualistic path → spirituality will be found through religious/ritualistic practice
• Terminal planet (Moon): lord of A9 and A8 (Arudha Padas of 9th and 8th houses in Cancer)
  • A9 = tangible religious practice, ashram affiliation, spiritual organizations
  • A8 = occult sadhana, tapasya, hidden spiritual pursuit
• Moon is in Pisces (Jala Tattva = Moon's own element) in Adhimitra sthana (best friend position: Jupiter = permanent + temporary friend)
• Moon is waxing (Shukla Paksha shortly after Amavasya) = auspicious

Expected outcomes in Moon Dasha (long-term): engagement with a spiritual order or ashram (A9), simultaneous occult/sadhana practice (A8), and many like-minded friends (Moon = 11th lord, Dara Karaka in 7th house).

🗓 Conditional Dashas — Visaptati Sama Dasha

Overview

Beyond Vimshottari Dasha, Parashara describes many conditional Nakshatra Dashas — each applicable only when a specific condition is met in the natal chart. When a conditional Dasha applies, it gives far more consistent results for the specific life focus it governs.

Visaptati Sama Dasha

Why this is a strong condition: Lagna lord in 7th alone = 1/12 probability; 7th lord in Lagna alone = 1/12; both together = 1/144. Total "or" probability ≈ 2/12 − 1/144 ≈ 1/6.

[!TIP] When multiple conditional Dashas are applicable, prefer:

1. The one with the rarer condition (e.g., 1/6 > 1/2)
2. If equal rarity, prefer the one with more years (longer total period = stronger Dasha)

Comparison of Dasha Conditions

Vimshottari Dasha always applies and shows how the mind perceives events. A conditional Dasha that applies will show the actual events from the perspective of that Dasha's focus.

Hora Chart (D2) — Sun Hora vs. Moon Hora

Daytime vs. nighttime: Always check sunrise time. Do NOT assume 8 AM is daytime — in December, sunrise can be after 8 AM.

💍 Navamsa — Marriage Analysis (John Kerry)

Navamsa Lagna: Pisces (Sun as 7th lord in Lagna)

Marriage timing:

• 1st marriage: Sun Dasha, Sun Antardasha (started 1970) → married May 1970 ✓
• Separation: Moon Dasha, Jupiter Antardasha (~1982–83) → Moon (6th lord) ends marriage; Jupiter owns 2nd house from 7th = 8th from 7th = destroyer of 1st marriage ✓

👶 Saptamsa — Children Analysis (John Kerry)

Saptamsa Lagna: Scorpio (or per chart — Sun + Ketu in Lagna)

Napunsaka (Eunuch) Planets Rule

[!IMPORTANT] Mercury and Saturn are Napunsaka (eunuch) planets. If both occupy trine positions (1st, 5th, 9th) in Saptamsa Lagna, children may be denied — especially when Venus is also in a trine (all three together = definite denial).

In Kerry's Saptamsa: Mercury and Saturn are in trines with exchange (5th lord in 9th, 9th lord in 5th = very strong). Yet Sun + Ketu are in Lagna — breaking the denial.

Why Ketu gives children:

• Ketu is the planet of continuity and parampara
• When children are absent, Ketu wants to give them first — then guide the person toward moksha
• Ketu is NOT inauspicious for children when there are none yet; he only stops children when the lineage is already established

Result: Kerry had 2 daughters (during Sun Dasha — Sun in Saptamsa Lagna governs children. One daughter born in Mercury Antardasha, one in Saturn Antardasha — the very planets that would deny them but are operating under Sun's Lagna authority).

Children from 2nd marriage:

• 2nd wife's house = 2nd house (Scorpio)
• Children of 2nd wife = 11th from Scorpio = 9th house (natural fruits of that relationship)

In Kerry's Rasi chart: Moon (benefic, Shukla Paksha, exalted Navamsa) in 6th from Arudha Lagna → contributes to making him look like a loser in public perception. But Dasamsa and divisional charts show real achievement.

[!NOTE] For education, use Upachaya (6th-from) progression — not the 8th-from method used for marriages. Education builds on prior learning (accumulation), whereas marriage destroys the prior state and creates a new one.

[!WARNING] PVR and Pandit Sanjay Rath disagreed on Bush's birth time rectification. When the birth time is uncertain, prediction reliability drops significantly regardless of technique.

🗝 Key Rules from Class 18

Rule 18.1 — Mother-in-Law of Sibling = 4th from Sibling's Upapada (Drekkana)

The 4th house from any Upapada in the Drekkana chart shows the mother of that person's spouse — i.e., the mother-in-law from the native's perspective for that sibling's family branch.

Rule 18.2 — AK Dasha = Material Difficulty, Spiritual Gold

The Vimshottari Dasha of Chara Atma Karaka is materially challenging but spiritually transformative. The AK's sole agenda is moksha; it teaches harsh lessons if the native is running after material pursuits during this period.

Rule 18.3 — Visaptati Sama Dasha: Probability ≈ 1/6

The Visaptati Sama Dasha (72 years total) applies when Lagna lord is in 7th OR 7th lord is in Lagna. Probability ≈ 1/6. When this condition is repeated in Navamsa and Dasamsa, the applicability is extremely strong. This Dasha always outranks more generic conditional Dashas (like Ashtottari = ~50% probability).

Rule 18.4 — Benefics in 3rd/6th from Arudha Lagna Show Loss

Benefics placed in the 3rd or 6th house from Arudha Lagna weaken public image/power (especially if exalted in Navamsa). Malefics in those houses show gain. Debilitated benefics in Navamsa reverse the effect.

Rule 18.5 — Moon in 7th (Dasamsa or Any Chart) Can Give Food Business

Classical dictum: Moon in the 7th house from Dasamsa Lagna (or relevant chart) can give a hotel, restaurant, or food-supply business. Moon = natural feeder; exalted in Taurus (natural 2nd house of sustenance).

Rule 18.6 — D24 Education: Upachaya (6th-from) Progression

For tracing education stages in the Siddhamsha (D24): basic = 4th house; bachelor's = 9th (6th from 4th); further studies = 2nd (6th from 9th). Use Rasi Drishti of planets on those houses to determine the subject of study. The 8th from each education house shows when that stage of education ends.

Rule 18.7 — Second Marriage House Sequence

First marriage = 7th house. Second marriage = 8th from 7th. Third marriage = 8th from 2nd (if 2nd showed 2nd marriage). Apply to Navamsa chart for marriage timing.

Rule 18.8 — Children from 2nd Spouse = 11th from 2nd Marriage House

If 2nd marriage is shown by the 2nd house (e.g., Scorpio), children of that union = 11th from Scorpio (fruits of the 2nd marital relationship).
