🕉️ Class 80 — Mundane Charts, Surgeon Career, Foreign Travel & Sub-Divisional Research
Two consultation charts (MD cardiologist Dr. Vasudeva Rao; teacher's wife married-then-abroad 1999) demonstrate D-10 surgeon career indicators, D-9 marriage Dasha validation, D-4 foreign travel Dasha analysis, and the advanced sub-divisional chart (Varga-within-Varga) technique. The opening discussion explains why mundane astrology charts (Lunar/Solar New Year) remain unreliable under Surya Siddhanta due to unresolved Kali Yuga reference-point ambiguity.

🌍 Mundane Astrology — Why New Year Charts Don't Work Yet {#mundane}
Japan Tsunami 2011 Case {#japan-tsunami}
The class opens with a request to analyze mundane astrology (country-level events). The teacher experimented with the Lunar New Year chart for Tokyo (March 16, 2010, 5:27 AM JST) for the Japan earthquake and tsunami of March 2011.
Findings from Tokyo Lunar New Year 2010 chart:
| Chart Type | What It Shows | Problem |
|---|---|---|
| Rasi | Jupiter in Lagna (2nd+11th lord = functional malefic) → some trouble | Not strong enough for this magnitude |
| Trimsamsa (D-30) | Lagna = Gemini; badha lord in Lagna; Lagna lord Mercury in Bhu Rashi afflicted by 6th lord Mars + 8th lord Saturn → earth problems possible | Cannot explain tsunami (water) or nuclear radiation |
| Navamsa | Nothing specifically indicating nuclear crisis | Missing |
[!NOTE] The teacher says: "Nothing really stands out. What really should stand up is water problem, earth problem, and more than all those things, the nuclear tension. Rahu, Ketu should also be involved. So something is amiss. Let's just leave it."
The teacher specifically looked for but did not find the tsunami's water element (Venus aspect = not bad, he's 5th lord), the nuclear radiation (Rahu/Ketu not prominently involved), or the earth's magnitude. The chart showed "some problem" but not the specific nature.
[!WARNING] Current position on mundane astrology: The teacher tested 20–25 major historical events against both Lunar New Year charts and Solar New Year charts under both Drik Siddhanta and Surya Siddhanta. Result: nothing consistently more convincing than before the switch. Teacher's conclusion: "We were seeing shapes in clouds earlier... Let's try to see something more genuine. We'll stick to natal charts until we have something better."
Kali Yuga Starting Point Problem {#kali-yuga}
The root issue with mundane chart definition:
[!IMPORTANT] At the start of Krta Yuga (beginning of current Mahayuga cycle), all planets were at 0° Aries and Sun–Moon conjoined. But at the start of Kali Yuga, as per Surya Siddhanta:
- Sun was at ~2° Aries (not 0°)
- Sun and Moon did not conjoin
- Only mean Sun and mean Moon were at 0° with corrections (samskara)
This means all current New Year definitions (Sun entering Aries for Solar New Year; Sun–Moon conjunction in Pisces for Lunar New Year) may have been appropriate for Krta Yuga but may be off by ~2° for Kali Yuga.
Proposed alternative definitions (unverified):
- Solar New Year = when Sun reaches ~2° Aries (matching Sun's position at Kali Yuga start)
- Lunar New Year = when Sun–Moon angle matches the specific angle at Kali Yuga start
timeline
title Yuga Cycle and New Year Reference Points
section Krita Yuga Start
0° Aries : All planets conjunct at 0° Aries
0° Aries : Sun-Moon conjunction exact
Standard definitions : Valid here
section Kali Yuga Start (current)
~2° Aries : Sun position (not 0°)
Delta angle : Sun-Moon NOT conjoined
Definitions possibly off : Current New Year charts may be wrong
section End of Kali Yuga
Return to 0° : Planets come back to zero
Realignment : 2° offset corrected naturally
[!TIP] Islamic calendar uses 360-tithi years but realigns with solar year via Adhik Masa every 2–3 years. For lunar counting this is accepted, but for mundane chart casting, the base reference remains unclear.
What Does Work: Independence Charts {#what-works}
Natal/foundation charts of countries — India, Pakistan, US — with an accurately known independence date and time do work. These are fixed charts, not periodically re-cast like New Year charts. Use these for country-level analysis.
Do NOT use (until further research): Lunar New Year charts, Solar New Year charts, Navamsa Pravesha, Dashamsa Pravesha, Simsamsa Pravesha, Fortnightly charts, Daily charts.
Do use: Independence/founding charts of countries; also Prashna (horary) charts using Rasi, D-3, and D-9 (fully applicable under Surya Siddhanta).
🏥 Chart 1 — Dr. Vasudeva Rao {#vasudeva}
Chart Data & Known Events {#vasudeva-data}
| Field | Details |
|---|---|
| Name | Dr. Vasudeva Rao |
| Date | August 5, 1970 |
| Time | 11:03 PM IST |
| Place | Kalyan (near Bombay/Mumbai), India |
| Coordinates | 73°9'E, 19°15'N |
| Profession | MD Cardiologist; runs own clinic + works in hospital |
| Marriage | August 27, 1998 |
| Question | Is moving to US as research scholar a good idea? |
Rasi chart features:
- Lagna: Aries (1°31'–32' Aries — very early degrees)
- Moon: 28°10' Leo
[!NOTE] Because the Lagna is at ~1.5° Aries, several divisional charts (D-9 Navamsa, D-10 Dashamsa, D-4 Chaturthamsa) all have Aries as their Lagna — the same sign rising in multiple charts. This is expected mathematically when natal Lagna is in the first 1.5° of any sign.
D-10 Dashamsa: Surgeon Career {#d10-surgeon}
D-10 Lagna: Aries
| House | Occupants | Significance |
|---|---|---|
| 2nd | Moon (exalted) | Strong but not career-defining by itself |
| 6th | Mars (Lagna lord) + Sun (5th lord) | Lagna lord + 5th lord Rajayoga in 6th house of service |
| 10th | Saturn (10th lord) | 10th lord in 10th house = very strong career indicator |
| 3rd | Rahu + Venus (7th+11th lords) | Kama Trikona lords in Kama house = enterprising desires |
[!IMPORTANT] Sun + Mars in 6th house = Surgeon indicator. Both are fierce, aggressive planets. Mars = karaka for enterprise and surgical action (using instruments, doing delicate work). Sun = royal force and heat. Their Rajayoga in the 6th house of service/healing indicates a highly active hands-on healer. Mars specifically is the planet of surgeons (not merely doctors).
Why he runs his own clinic even though 6th house is prominent:
- 6th house = working hard, overcoming obstacles, serving — can apply even to one's own business if the person works intensely
- 7th house (desire + business) = Venus+Rahu in 3rd house showing strong desires (Rahu = many desires; Venus = passion)
- Mars = karaka for enterprise → both a hard worker (6th) AND enterprising (7th-type nature) simultaneously
- Having both 6th and 7th house indicators = mix of employment and independent practice
D-10 Dashamsa Deities: Nirriti & Ananta {#d10-deities}
Each planet falls in a specific deity's amsa (degree-based subdivision). From the D-10 chart:
| Planet | Deity Amsa | Symbolic Meaning | Career Implication |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sun + Mars | Nirriti | Breaking barriers, cutting-edge, underworld OR frontier technology | High-tech surgery; latest medical instruments and practices |
| Saturn | Ananta (Shesha Naga) | The patient foundation-layer; base of all worlds | Research work that lays foundations; patient, systematic work |
[!NOTE] Nirriti correction from earlier tradition: Previously taught as "digging" (Brahma) vs "flying" (Ananta). Teacher corrects: based on Puranic story of Shiva Linga — Vishnu (Varaha avatar) actually digs, Brahma (swan form) goes up. In Puja, Brahma = Urdhva Dikpalaka (upward direction), Ananta = Adho Dikpalaka (downward). Logically, Ananta Sesa lives at the base of the 14 worlds = the patient upholder/foundation. Ananta's amsa = patiently building foundation-level work = research.
Combined career picture: A surgeon (Sun+Mars, Nirriti) who also has a research dimension (Saturn, Ananta). Going to the US as a research scholar is directly supported by Saturn's indications in D-10.
Sixth House for Service vs Seventh for Business {#sixth-seventh}
[!TIP] 6th house vs 7th house for career type:
- 6th house = overcoming obstacles, working under another's direction, fighting and serving. Characterizes employees or those who work very hard and solve problems.
- 7th house = strong desires, pursuing goals, ambitious. Characterizes entrepreneurs/businesspeople.
- Both can apply: Someone running their own business but working 24/7 = both 6th (hard work) and 7th (desires/enterprise). The 6th house planet being fierce (Mars, Sun) emphasizes the active, hands-on working style even in one's own business.
D-9 Navamsa Marriage Verification {#vasudeva-d9}
D-9 Lagna: Aries (same as Rasi — first degrees)
Key D-9 chart positions (Aries Lagna):
| Planet | D-9 House | Functional Role |
|---|---|---|
| Sun | 9th (Leo?) | 5th lord = great benefic; involved in Rajayoga |
| Moon | 9th (with Sun, Mars) | 4th lord = neutral; in powerful yoga in 9th house |
| Mars | 9th (with Sun, Moon) | Lagna lord = benefic; Rajayoga with 5th lord in 9th |
| Jupiter | 9th house (elsewhere) | 9th+12th lord = functional benefic; dispositor of the Rajayoga |
| Saturn | 9th house | Functional malefic; problematic despite being in 9th |
| Venus | 7th lord | In Aquarius; 7th lord = marriage significator |
Rajayoga in 9th house of Dharma: Moon (4th lord, Sukha) + Mars (Lagna lord) + Sun (5th lord, Purva Phalguni) — all three are friends. Moon and Mars are within 2° of each other; Sun not far behind. Saturn nearby is the only problematic planet.
Marriage Dasha: Moon MD, Jupiter AD (August 27, 1998)
| Planet | Why Marriage? |
|---|---|
| Moon MD | 4th lord in powerful 9th-house yoga; neutral = can give marriage if in a nice yoga; 10-year Mahadasha covers the relevant age |
| Jupiter AD | 9th+12th lord; dispositor of the entire Rajayoga (Moon, Mars, Sun all in Jupiter's sign); functional benefic; aspects 7th lord Venus (3rd aspect = partial link to 7th house) |
[!IMPORTANT] Why Jupiter AD and not Sun AD? Sun is technically a stronger functional benefic (5th lord only vs Jupiter's 9th+12th). But:
- Jupiter is the dispositor of all three Rajayoga planets (Moon, Mars, Sun) in his sign
- When a powerful Rajayoga exists and the dispositor is a functional benefic in a friendly position (adhimitra sthana), the dispositor gives the result of the entire yoga
- Sun AD would have been possible too (two thousand and four), but Jupiter came at the right time
General rule restated: In divisional chart analysis, look at only the functional benefics. Parasara's rule: subha grahas give subha, papa grahas give papa. Marriage = auspicious event = must be given by a functional benefic Dasha–Antardasha pair.
Full Parasara marriage list (comprehensive):
"Marriage is given by a functional benefic who is: (1) occupying the 7th house, (2) aspecting the 7th house, (3) associated with the 7th lord, (4) linked to Upapada, or (5) linked to 7th from Upapada."
Here: Jupiter → aspects 7th lord Venus (partial, 3rd aspect) = enough of a link.
Chara Dasha D-9: Leo Dasha Gave Marriage {#vasudeva-chara}
D-9 Chara Dasha at August 27, 1998: Leo Dasha
(Saturn and Mars are stronger in the chart → used for Chara Dasha calculation → Leo Dasha in 1998)
| Verification Step | Analysis |
|---|---|
| Natal sign content | Leo = 5th house; Venus (7th lord) aspects Leo ✓ |
| Taking Leo as Lagna | Lagna lord Sun + Yogakaraka Mars are in the 5th house (Poorva Phalguni = house of fortune/dharma). Seventh lord also in same house. Powerful yoga. |
| Transit at August 1998 | Sun + Rahu transiting in Leo = Lagna lord AND 7th lord (Rahu as 7th lord from Leo) both in the Dasha sign = very conducive marriage transit |
flowchart TD
L["Leo Chara Dasha"] --> A["Natal: 7th lord Venus aspects Leo from Aquarius"]
L --> B["Leo as Lagna: Yogakaraka Mars + Lagna lord Sun\nin 5th house (Poorva Phalguni)"]
L --> C["Transit Aug 1998: Sun+Rahu both in Leo\n= Lagna lord + 7th lord in Dasha sign"]
A & B & C --> D["Marriage: Aug 27, 1998 ✓"]
[!NOTE] The teacher notes that for Chara Dasha, you don't look only at transit. The natal sign must have indicators of why that area of life (marriage) can be given. Here: Venus (7th lord) aspecting Leo, and taking Leo as Lagna the 7th lord + Yogakaraka + Lagna lord are together.
D-4 Chaturthamsa: Foreign Travel 2011 {#vasudeva-d4}
D-4 Lagna: Aries (same Aries Lagna group — very early natal degrees)
Saturn Vimshottari Dasha running (Jupiter Dasha ended ~2010 November)
| Factor | Analysis |
|---|---|
| Saturn = D-4 what lord? | 11th lord (= Badhaka lord for Aries Lagna = movable sign, 11th is Badhaka) |
| Saturn aspects 12th house | By 3rd aspect: Capricorn → Pisces (12th house from Aries) ✓ |
| Saturn aspects 7th house | By 10th aspect: Capricorn → Libra (7th house from Aries) ✓ |
| Saturn aspects 9th+12th lord Jupiter | Jupiter at 26° Libra; Saturn at 21° Capricorn = 10th aspect within 5° orb; Jupiter = 9th+12th lord ✓ |
| Lagna lord Mars + 5th lord Sun with Saturn | Both benefics afflicted by Saturn = undermining patriotism/staying home |
| Saturn links all foreign houses | 7th ✓, 9th ✓ (via Jupiter), 12th ✓, Badhaka ✓ |
Verdict: Saturn Dasha will definitely take this person abroad, possibly to multiple countries. However, because Saturn is a functional malefic (not a benefic), he will NOT settle down permanently. Expect visits and short-to-medium stays, not permanent residence abroad.
[!WARNING] When the Dasha planet taking someone abroad is a functional malefic, expect instability of residence, frequent movement, going back and forth — NOT settling down and prospering abroad. For stable, prosperous foreign residence, the Dasha must be a functional benefic with links to 7th, 9th, or 12th house.
Libra Chara Dasha — Foreign Travel Analysis {#vasudeva-libra}
D-4 Chara Dasha: Libra Dasha (started August 2008)
| Verification Step | Analysis |
|---|---|
| Which house is Libra? | 7th house from Aries Lagna |
| Who occupies Libra? | Jupiter (9th+12th lord) — directly relevant to foreign travel |
| Who aspects Libra? | Saturn (Badhaka lord) — aspecting with 4th aspect |
| Libra as Lagna | Lagna lord Venus in 12th house (Virgo) in debility → leaving place, going somewhere ✓ |
| From Libra as Lagna | Mercury (9th+12th lord) in a Jal Rashi (water sign), with Rahu+Ketu, aspected by Karaka Rahu = going abroad ✓ |

The Chara Dasha analysis from the Rasi chart (not from D-4 compressed) is being applied here. The Dasha sign is interpreted both as a natal house AND as a temporary Lagna.
Transit Window: May 2011 {#vasudeva-transit}
Taking Libra as the Chara Dasha sign, transits from it:
May 14, 2011 — exceptional transit:
| Planet Transiting Aries (7th from Libra) | Why Significant |
|---|---|
| Mars | 7th lord from Libra Dasha sign |
| Venus | Lagna lord from Libra |
| Mercury | 9th lord from Libra |
| Sun | Badhaka lord from Libra |
| Jupiter | Moving into Aries in May/June 2011 |
All these planets simultaneously transiting the 7th house from the Chara Dasha sign = extraordinary confluence for foreign travel.
[!IMPORTANT] Participant confirmed: The doctor was indeed planning to come to the US around May 22, 2011 — right within this transit window. The analysis was done in ~March 2011, approximately two months before the planned arrival.
Additional confirmation: Saturn in Pisces (12th house from Libra) during this period, as Badhaka lord in the 12th house = further indication of departure from home.
Verdict: Going to US in the Saturn D-4 Vimshottari period + Libra Chara Dasha period is perfectly supported. The move is good for him. He may travel extensively (Saturn nature) rather than settle permanently.
Career Link to Foreign Travel (D-4 × D-10) {#vasudeva-career-link}
An important cross-divisional insight:
The same planet Saturn is:
- 10th lord in 10th house of the D-10 Dashamsa (career, research foundation via Ananta amsa)
- 10th lord in 10th house of the D-4 Chaturthamsa (residence/foreign chart)
When the planet dominating foreign travel (Saturn in D-4) is also the same planet showing career/research (Saturn in D-10), the foreign trip is career-driven. The person goes abroad for professional reasons, specifically research.
flowchart LR
S["Saturn"] --> D4["D-4 Chaturthamsa:\n10th lord in 10th\nDasha lord causing foreign travel"]
S --> D10["D-10 Dashamsa:\n10th lord in 10th\nShows research work (Ananta amsa)"]
D4 & D10 --> link["Foreign travel = FOR career/research\nNot for personal reasons"]
Cross-divisional house meaning rule:
- House a planet occupies in D-4 reveals the purpose behind the residence change
- 3rd house in D-4 = person's own initiative / self-driven travel
- 7th house in D-4 = travel because of spouse / marriage-related
- 10th house in D-4 = travel for career/profession
👩 Chart 2 — Teacher's Wife (Comparative Chart) {#wife}
This chart is given as a comparison to demonstrate the link between D-4 foreign travel and D-9 marriage when someone goes abroad because of marriage.
Chart Data & Event {#wife-data}
| Field | Details |
|---|---|
| Date | July 26, 1973 |
| Time | 9:48:10 PM IST |
| Place | Guntur, India (80°27'E, 16°18'N) |
| Gender | Female |
| Event | Married January 24, 1999; went to US within one week (H-4 visa) |
D-4 Chara Dasha: Gemini {#wife-chara}
D-4 Chara Dasha at January–February 1999: Gemini Dasha
| Factor | Analysis |
|---|---|
| Gemini contents | Saturn (12th lord) + Rahu (12th co-lord) |
| Both 12th lords in Gemini | 12th house = foreign lands; both lords in Gemini = very direct indication |
| Who aspects Gemini? | Mars + Ketu from Sagittarius (9th lords, 7th aspect) = 9th lords aspecting Gemini |
| Taking Gemini as Lagna | 9th lords Mars+Ketu are in Lagna (Sagittarius falls in 1st from Gemini) = going abroad from Gemini Lagna |
All four key foreign-travel factors active:
- 12th lords (Saturn+Rahu) in Gemini
- 9th lords (Mars+Ketu) aspecting Gemini
- Rahu = Karaka for foreign travel, right there
- Result: "This person settled down abroad — this is not a chart of staying in the motherland."
D-4 Vimshottari: Saturn–Mars {#wife-vimshottari}
D-4 Vimshottari Dasha at February 1, 1999: Saturn MD, Mars AD
| Planet | Role in D-4 |
|---|---|
| Saturn | 12th lord |
| Mars | 9th lord |
Saturn (12th) and Mars (9th) are in Samsaptaka (7th from each other). Together they show 9th+12th house energy = going abroad. Their Antardasha–Mahadasha together activating this is a "very straight case."
D-9 Seventh House Link to D-4 Twelfth House {#wife-link}
The teacher uses this chart to demonstrate the rule: When someone goes abroad because of marriage, look for a link between D-9's 7th house and D-4's 12th/9th house.
| Chart | What Shows |
|---|---|
| D-9 Navamsa, 7th house | Mars (Yogakaraka) + Ketu in 7th house = nice marriage, luck in marriage |
| D-9, 7th lords | Saturn + Rahu (same two planets!) |
| D-4 activation | Saturn+Rahu = 12th lords in Gemini = foreign travel |
The same two planets (Saturn and Rahu) that are the D-9 7th lords (marriage) are also the D-4 12th lords (foreign travel) occupying Gemini. This is why going abroad is linked to marriage.
[!IMPORTANT] Rule: When D-9 seventh-house lords are also D-4 12th/9th-house lords (or link those houses), the person will go abroad because of or through marriage. The cross-chart planetary overlap reveals the causal connection between events.
🔬 Sub-Divisional Chart Technique: D-4 by D-9 {#subdivisional}
This is an advanced Varga-within-Varga (divisional-chart-within-divisional-chart) research technique.
Concept: When the D-4 Chaturthamsa is the chart of interest (residence/foreign), taking the D-4 as the base "Rasi chart" and finding the Navamsa within the D-4 = blessings in the domain of residence. Finding the Trimsamsa within D-4 = weaknesses/problems in the domain of residence.
How to Access in JHora {#subdivisional-jhora}
- Click any divisional chart to get the pop-up menu
- Scroll past D-30 and Higher Divisions
- Find "Sub-divisional chart for research (DM by N)"
- Select: First divisional = Chaturthamsa (D-4); Second divisional = Navamsa (D-9)
- Result = D-4 by D-9 chart = the "blessings in your residence/foreign area"
[!WARNING] The Lagna of a sub-divisional chart is highly sensitive — changes with very small birth time adjustments. Do not trust the Lagna of a sub-divisional chart unless birth time is extremely precise (seconds level). Planetary positions in sub-divisional charts are more reliable than the Lagna (since they change at hours-level intervals rather than seconds-level).
Traditional Precedents: D-144, D-108, D-81 {#subdivisional-traditional}
The three classically used sub-divisional charts are:
| Chart | Formula | Traditional Use |
|---|---|---|
| D-144 | D-12 × D-12 (Dvasamsa of Dvasamsa) | Standard division |
| D-108 | D-12 × D-9 (Dvasamsa × Navamsa) | Blessings in Dvasamsa domain |
| D-81 | D-9 × D-9 (Navamsa of Navamsa) | Blessings in Navamsa domain |
The sub-divisional chart feature in JHora is an extension of this traditional concept to any combination (D-M by D-N).
Analysis: Saturn & Mars Navamsas Aspecting D-4 Twelfth {#subdivisional-analysis}
From the D-4 by D-9 chart of Dr. Vasudeva Rao's wife (the comparative chart):
| Planet | Position in D-4/D-9 | Aspect on... |
|---|---|---|
| Saturn | Taurus | 8th aspect → Aquarius (12th house from Aries Lagna) |
| Mars | Cancer | 10th aspect → Aquarius (12th house from Aries Lagna) |
Both Saturn and Mars — the key planets for foreign travel in this chart — have their Navamsas (blessings) aspecting Aquarius, the 12th house of the D-4 chart (foreign residence).
Interpretation: The blessings of both the 12th lord and the 9th lord fall on the 12th house. The sub-divisional Navamsa confirms that foreign residence is blessed for this person.
Katari on Dasha Sign {#katari}
| Technique | Details |
|---|---|
| Dasha sign (Gemini) | Has a Katari ("scissors") from the Navamsas of Saturn (Taurus) and Mars (Cancer) |
| Katari yoga | Two planets on either side of a sign create this — the sign is "hemmed in" between them; when the Dasha sign has a Katari from key planets, it strongly activates |
| Interpretation | The Chara Dasha of Gemini is strongly energized by the blessings of the two most important planets for foreign travel aspecting on both sides |
Similarly: If the Dasha sign had a Katari from the Trimsamsas (D-30 sub-divisions) of two malefic planets, you would expect problems during that Dasha.
[!TIP] This sub-divisional chart technique is open research — not classical Parasara, but an extension of classical principles. Limited testing has shown interesting results. Worth experimenting with, especially for major life domains (D-7 for children, D-9 for marriage, D-24 for education) to see if sub-divisional Navamsa confirms blessings.
🏠 Cross-Divisional House Meanings in D-4 {#d4-house-meanings}
| D-4 House | In Context of Foreign Travel/Residence |
|---|---|
| 3rd house | Initiative for travel; self-driven trip; own choice |
| 7th house | Travel related to or because of spouse/marriage |
| 9th house | Foreign travel for higher purposes; long-distance; good fortune |
| 10th house | Travel for career/profession; work-driven move |
| 12th house | Foreign lands; settling abroad |
| Badhaka (11th for Aries) | Obstacles to staying in home country; forces the person outward |
When the planet dominating D-4 Vimshottari Dasha is in the 10th house in D-4, the foreign move is career-linked. Verify by checking if the same planet is significant in D-10 Dashamsa.
🔭 Research Areas Mentioned {#research-areas}
Dasha lord's transit from its D-chart position: When using D-9 Vimshottari Dasha, the Dasha lord's position (or Graha Arudha = the manifestation of the Graha) in the D-9 chart may be a useful transit reference. Open research — no consistent rules established yet.
Antardasha lord's transit: Similarly, the Antardasha lord's transit from the relevant divisional chart position may be significant. Good research area but no consistent rules confirmed.
Ishta Kala, Ishta Phala, Kashta Phala, Shad Bala: These classical strength measures have not been studied carefully. After switching to Surya Siddhanta, the teacher intends to return to these Balas systematically. Future work.
Upapada (Arudha of 12th house): Shows the quality of marriage from an external/public perception standpoint. 7th from Upapada also shows marriage. This has been mentioned but full methodology not yet studied. Future work.
Mundane astrology New Year charts: Need to test alternate definitions based on Kali Yuga starting positions. 20–25 major events tested; nothing consistent yet. Ongoing research.
Sub-divisional chart Katari from Trimsamsas: If Dasha sign has Katari from Trimsamsas (D-30) of malefic planets = problems in that Dasha. Not yet validated systematically. Open research.
📊 Key Rules Consolidated {#key-rules}
Functional Benefic Priority Rule
Parasara's most fundamental rule: subha grahas give auspicious events, papa grahas give inauspicious events. When predicting events from divisional charts, identify the functional benefics of that chart's Lagna first. Only they can give major positive life events.
Dispositor Rule for Yoga Results
When a powerful Rajayoga exists (multiple benefics in conjunction), the dispositor of those planets — if also a functional benefic in a friendly sign — can give the result of that yoga. The dispositor takes credit as the primary channel.
Foreign Travel Houses
Houses related to going abroad: 7th (long journey, or with spouse), 9th (bhagya, fortune, long travel), 12th (foreign lands), Badhaka (obstacles to staying home). A planet linking all four = strong foreign travel indicator.
Sub-Divisional Chart Navamsa = Blessings
Taking any divisional chart D-M, find the Navamsa within it (D-M × D-9) = the blessings in that life domain. Trimsamsa within it (D-M × D-30) = vulnerabilities. Planetary positions reliable; Lagna not reliable unless birth time is within seconds.
Cross-Divisional Causal Links
When the same planet(s) show a specific house in two different divisional charts, the two life areas are causally connected. Example: Saturn+Rahu = D-9 7th lords (marriage) AND D-4 12th lords (foreign) → marriage causes foreign travel.
