Verse 23 — Gulika in Karakamsha + Full Moon Aspect

Gulkena Yute Swamshe Poorna Chandrena Vikshite Chaurae Huta Dhanojaatah Swayam Chauro Thava Bhavet

Gulika in Karakamsha, aspected by a strong (near-full) Moon:

[!NOTE] This is not "noble person victimized by thieves" — it describes someone involved in shady dealings where both being robbed AND robbing are possible. The two are not moral opposites here.

Why Full Moon? Moon = mind + pursuit of mental happiness. A full (strong) Moon aspecting Gulika in Atmakaraka = the person's very ego-sense is driven to seek fullness and pleasure to any extent, including theft.

Most applicable amsha: D30 (Trimsamsa) — chart of evil acts, suffering, sins. Possibly D10 (career).

Verse 24 — Gulika in Karakamsha (No Aspect)

Gulika in Karakamsha, no planetary aspect:

[!TIP] "Poison" (visha) should be understood broadly — ingesting chemicals, pollutants, plastics in modern life can qualify. Gulika shows unnatural causes of harm.

Mercury aspecting Gulika in Karakamsha → Bruhadbijah = many children (or large progeny). In Saptamsa (D7), Mercury's aspect can indicate licentiousness resulting in many children from different partners (Gulika = shady morals, Mercury = multitude/variety).

Hearing (shravana) is linked to Akasha tattva. Gemini (natural 3rd = ears) and Sagittarius (Jupiter's moolatrikona) are the key signs. Ketu is 6th (impediment) from Gemini and 12th (loss) from Sagittarius — hence, enemy of the ear faculty.

Verse 26 — Ketu in Karakamsha + Venus Aspect

Bhruguputrekshite tasmin deekshito jayate janah

Ketu in Karakamsha, Venus aspecting (no malefics): → Deekshito — the person is initiated into a spiritual tradition; religious, belonging to a parampara; practices sadhana and mantra.

Applicable amsha: D20 (Vimshamsa) — spiritual Upasana

Verse 27 — Ketu in Karakamsha + Mercury/Saturn Aspect

Budharkidrashte nirviryo jayate manavodbhavam

Ketu in Karakamsha, Mercury + Saturn aspecting: → Nirvirya = impotent or infertile; difficulty conceiving children.

[!NOTE] Mercury + Saturn = neutral planets; Ketu = depriver. In Saptamsa (D7), this combination shows inability to beget children, or adopted children.

Verse 27 (cont.) — Ketu in Karakamsha + Mercury/Venus Aspect

Budha Shukreshu dre tasmin dasi putra prajayate

Ketu in Karakamsha, Mercury + Venus aspecting: → Dasi putra — born of a servant maid, or of a mother without a husband (widow). Indicates socially irregular birth circumstances.

Astrological logic:

• Mercury = Budha (son of Moon and Tara — an illicit birth in itself)
• Venus = karaka of licentiousness
• Their combined aspect on Ketu in Karakamsha in Dvadashamsa (D12) → irregular parentage circumstances

Punarbhava — also possible: born of a widowed or re-married woman.

Verse 28 — Ketu in Karakamsha + Saturn Aspect

Tapaswi charanadrishte jatas tresyo athava bhaved

Ketu in Karakamsha, Saturn aspecting: → Tapaswi — person of penance; deeply ascetic. OR Tresya — one who merely appears to do penance (puts up a show).

Ravi Shukreshu Dreshite Tasmin Raja Dreshyo Jano Bhavet

Ketu in Karakamsha, Sun + Venus aspecting: → Raja Dreshyo — serves the king in an honorable position; royal court advisor; close to power with privileges.

• Sun = royalty; Venus = luxury; Ketu = humble service (not the king himself)
• Together: royal insignia without being at the top — advisor, spiritual minister, court dignitary

Most likely amsha: D10 (Dashamsa — career and public work).

🏠 Houses from Karakamsha (Verses 29–31)

2nd House from Karakamsha — Venus + Mars

Svan Sradhanecha Shukraravarge Syat Paradarikah

Second house from Karakamsha is owned by Venus or Mars (i.e., Pisces, Aries, Virgo, Libra): → Paradarikah — licentious; interested in other people's spouses.

Venus + Mars placed or aspecting the 2nd from Karakamsha makes this permanent and intense.

Why 2nd house?

• 12th from Karakamsha = pleasure-seeking
• 2nd house = initiative, drive, focus toward 12th-house matters (3rd from it = vitality for 12th house activities)
• 2nd house shows the desire and initiative regarding pleasure

Ketu's influence cancels this tendency (tatpratibandha — Ketu puts a brake). Even Jupiter cannot restrain — only Ketu (the depriver) breaks the drive.

Rahoutyartha nivruttisya karakamshadyage

Rahu in 2nd house from Karakamsha: → Artha Nivrutti — money/wealth departs. Financial losses. Rahu in 2nd from Karakamsha depletes wealth.

🌀 Gulika = Mandi: One Upagraha or Two?

[!IMPORTANT] The debate: Are Gulika and Mandi two different Upagrahas?

Pandit Sanjay Rath's view: Two separate bodies — one shows evils you do to others, one shows evils others do to you.

Parashara's evidence:

• Parashara defines Gulika's calculation (Saturn's portion)
• He uses Mandi without defining it — as if already defined
• Mandi = one coming from Manda (slow) = Saturn → same as Gulika
• In verse 23, the same body (Gulika) gives both robbing others AND being robbed

Conclusion: Gulika and Mandi are the same Upagraha — both names used for the same entity in different texts. One Gulika/Mandi shows all shady dealings, both doing harm AND receiving harm.

🌿 Ayurvedic Constitution from the Chart

Overview

Two dimensions to assess:

1. Physical body constitution (Prakriti of the body) → from Lagna (Ascendant sign, lord, occupants, aspects)
2. Mental constitution (Manaskriti / Prakriti of the mind) → from Moon (sign, lord, aspects on Moon)
3. Public persona/image → from Arudha Lagna

[!TIP] Always use exact planetary aspect percentages (via jHora's Planetary Aspect Evaluation window) rather than approximate house-based aspects. Planets with > 75% aspect strength are the decisive influencers.

• If dasha lord is 6th or 8th lord → extra dosha pumped into system = actual disease, not just imbalance

[!WARNING] When the current dasha lord is also the 6th or 8th house lord, the dosha imbalance doesn't just affect constitution — it actively causes pathology. Example: Saturn (6th lord) running Saturn dasha → Vata disease (arthritis, gout, joint pain).
