🌟 Hora Chart Overview

The Hora chart governs:

  • Finances — wealth in one's possession, resources owned
  • Risk-taking propensity — gambling, speculative investments
  • Partnerships linked to money — A7 in Hora

[!NOTE] The Hora chart is not about income from career (that is Daśāṃśa) but about the resources and wealth you hold.

⚔️ Risk-Taking Yogas

Karaka and house for risk/gambling:

Factor Significator
Karaka (planet) Mars
House 8th house
Tangible gambling A8 (Arudha of 8th)
Tangible gain A11 (Arudha of 11th)
Initiative A3
Desire / partnership A7

Chart under discussion (native in Saturn Dasha):

  • Mars (risk-taking karaka) and Jupiter (8th lord) are together in Lagna of the Hora chart → natural gambler confirmed
  • Lagna lord Venus is in Scorpio — the natural 8th sign — further reinforcing the risk-taking disposition
  • Saturn is Yogakaraka (9th and 10th lord) → gambling with gains, not merely losses

[!IMPORTANT] To determine whether a person profits from gambling, check if there is a link between A8 (risk) and A11 (tangible gain). Here Saturn has Argala on both A8 and A11, confirming profitable speculation.

💰 Arudha Analysis for Finances

Saturn (Yogakaraka) has Argala on:

  • A8 — tangible risk-taking / gambling
  • A11 — tangible financial gains
  • A3 — initiative
  • A7 — associations / partnerships formed through financial dealings

Caution sub-period: Moon Antardasha within Saturn Dasha

  • Moon is 11th lord placed in the 12th house (house of losses) from Lagna
  • Moon is also 12th lord from Saturn (Dasha lord)
  • A2 is in the 12th house
  • Paksha and Bhāga fall in the 8th house
  • Window of possible losses: August 1 – September 17

[!WARNING] In finances, the 12th house represents actual loss — there is no "investment" softening without a positive combination counterbalancing it. The Moon period here shows genuine loss potential.

📈 Saturn Dasha & Market Predictions

Using the Kārtika Śukla Pratipada Chakra (financial New Year chart — the day after Diwali, when Sun and Moon conjoin in Libra):

Chart for China (Beijing) — current year:
  Lagna: Scorpio
  8th lord Mercury in Lagna
  6th, 9th, 10th lords in 12th house → severe losses
  → Chinese market fell ~40% in the preceding 6–7 months ✓
Chart for India (New Delhi) — current year:
  Lagna: Libra
  Sun (11th lord), Moon (10th lord), Jupiter in Lagna
  Mercury (9th lord) in 2nd house of wealth
  → Good year for India so far ✓
Chart for India — NEXT year:
  Lagna: Scorpio, 29°27' (deep Gandānta)
  Lagna lord Mars in 12th house
  Same + additional planets in 12th house of loss
  → Prediction: Major crash after October 22, 2006

[!WARNING] The instructor explicitly predicted: After Diwali / November 2006 — a significant crash in the Indian stock market. Small pre-crash dips will occur first; people will buy back thinking it has bottomed. The real crash will cause panic selling among retail investors who entered during the bull run.

🔄 Narayana Dasha — Gemini Period

Gemini is a Śīrṣodaya Rāśi → results are delivered in the first one-third.

One-third Signifier Result
First Sign itself (Gemini = 2nd house of resources) Good — wealth; but UL there, some loss potential
Second Planets aspecting Gemini — Moon (3rd lord in 12th) and Rahu (10th lord) Income from career (Rahu); gains from foreign investments (Moon + 12th)
Third Sign lord Mercury (in 6th house with Sun and Saturn) Mercury 2nd & 5th lord; functional malefic here; mixed — chances for masters but with obstacles

🩺 Planetary Rulerships of Body Tissues

[!NOTE] These are the Saptadhātu (seven body tissues) as taught by Parāśara, summarised from classroom discussion:

Planet Body Tissue (Dhātu)
Sūrya (Sun) Bones (Asthi)
Candra (Moon) Blood (Rakta) — flowing blood
Maṅgala (Mars) Nervous system — conduits carrying electrical signals
Budha (Mercury) Rasa dhātu — skin, glands, connective tissues linking other dhātus
Guru (Jupiter) Fat (Meda dhātu)
Śukra (Venus) Sexual fluids / reproductive tissue
Śani (Saturn) Muscles (Māṃsa dhātu) — store and expend energy
Rāhu / Ketu Depletion of all dhātus — not specific to one tissue

[!TIP] Common misconception: Mars ≠ muscles. Mars = nervous system (fast signal transmission). Saturn = muscles (slow, sustained work). Similarly Jupiter ≠ muscles; Jupiter = fat.

🦵 Physical Disability — Sixth House Diagnosis

Native has a permanent leg disability (from birth); one leg affected — likely polio-related.

Houses for legs:

  • 9th house → thighs
  • 10th house → knees and calves
  • 11th house → ankles and lower leg

Sixth house combination causing the disability:

6th house: Rāhu + Mars + Sun (debilitated) + Mercury
  • Rāhu = Jñātikaraka (significator of suffering at soul level)
  • Sūrya is debilitated (weak) — wants to destroy Rāhu
  • Maṅgala allies with Sun against Rāhu
  • Together, Sun and Mars defeat Rāhu in the 6th house of sickness

Result: Rāhu controlling the 10th house (knees/calves) is severely afflicted → permanent weakness in the knee-calf region.

Tissues implicated:

  • Debilitated Sun → bone weakness
  • Mars → nervous system involvement
  • Conclusion: likely a bone deficiency as the primary cause

[!IMPORTANT] Saturn (10th lord) is in the 6th from the 10th, and is Vargottama in the 6th house from Lagna, with A8, Sun, and Mars — this is the compound affliction causing the permanent deformity.

🏥 Eighth Lord & Sixth Lord Rule for Disease Location

Sanjay Rath's rule (as taught):

flowchart LR
    A[Disease location] --> B{Which lord?}
    B --> C[8th lord]
    B --> D[6th lord]
    C --> E[Look at the SIGN it occupies\nin the natural zodiac\ne.g. Aries = head, Capricorn = knees]
    D --> F[Look at the HOUSE it occupies\nfrom Lagna in the natal chart\ne.g. 10th house = knees]

Examples:

  • 8th lord in Aries → head/brain problems
  • 8th lord in Capricorn → knee problems
  • 6th lord in 10th house → knee problems (via house, not sign)

In this chart:

  • 8th lord Jupiter in Taurus → face/eyes susceptible
  • 6th lord Venus in Scorpio (7th house from Lagna) → 7th house body parts (kidney, sexual organs) susceptible
  • Neither rule directly pointed to the leg — the actual cause was the Rāhu affliction in the 6th house

🎓 Master's Education — D-24 & Timing

Houses governing education:

  • 9th house / A9 → Bachelor's degree (Baccalaureate)
  • 2nd house / A2 → Master's degree

Birth time rectification: Lagna settled as Leo (not Virgo) based on:

  • Sagittarius Narayana Dasha correlating with bachelor's completion
  • From Leo: Sagittarius = 5th house (blessing from past karma) with Jupiter having Graha drishti on 9th house
  • A9 in Gemini; Sagittarius has Rāśi drishti on A9 ✓
  • Sagittarius as 7th (Maraka) from A9 → education ended in that dasha ✓

Master's education window:

Dasha Period Verdict for Masters
Virgo (current, ending) 2nd house — possible; Mercury (2nd lord) in 6th with Sun-Saturn affliction; not ideal but chance exists
Aries (next) 12th from A2, 8th from 2nd house — not conducive at all
Scorpio (2009–2015) No Rāśi/Graha drishti on A2; 7th (Maraka) from A2 — not favorable

[!IMPORTANT] Window: next 2–2.5 years (from class date ~2006). After that, native will likely lose interest. If master's happens, it will be MBA with engineering management focus (Venus + Mars dominating A2).

[!NOTE] D-24 (Siddhāṃśa) annual chart for the current year shows: 2nd house has Rāhu-Ketu (weak); 2nd lord Mercury in 12th house with AI → he may seriously consider but ultimately compromise on doing masters.

📅 Tithi Pravesh & Career Timing

Current year's Tithi Pravesh (Daśāṃśa):

  • Horāpati (ruler of the year) = Saturn
  • Saturn in Lagna = hard work, desire for enterprise (7th lord in Lagna)
  • Lagna lord Sun debilitated in 3rd → reluctance to take major initiative
  • No clear job change indicated this year

Next year's Tithi Pravesh:

  • Horāpati = Venus (Yogakaraka; 4th lord in 4th house in Daśāṃśa) → comfort, happiness
  • Raja Yoga: Venus (9th lord) + Mercury (10th lord) in Rāśi chart
  • A5 (recognition): Mars (10th lord), Argala from exalted Sun and 5th lord Mercury → great recognition
  • Best period for recognition: February–March (following year)
  • Best period for going independent: October–November (Sun sub-period: 7th lord exalted in 3rd in Daśāṃśa → initiative + independence)

[!TIP] Remedy suggested: Propitiate Durgā (Moon-Rāhu combination in natal Daśāṃśa Lagna). Recite Durgā Saptaśatī every Monday (for Moon) and/or Saturday (for Rāhu/Ketu). This will help form the internal initiative for independent work.

👶 Childbirth — Saptāṃśa Analysis

Child born ~5 weeks before class; first child; male.

Odd/Even rule for first child:

  • This is an even marriage → count backwards from 5th house
  • 5th house backwards from Lagna → Cancer → lord Moon
  • Moon in Libra (odd sign) → boy

Saptāṃśa (D-7) key findings:

Factor Observation
Putra Karaka (natural) Jupiter
Chara Putra Karaka Moon
Putra Sāhamam 11°36' Aries
Gaja Kesari Yoga Moon (exalted in Lagna) + Jupiter (7th house) on Lagna axis ✓
3rd house (= 11th from 5th = gain of child) A11 and A5 both present; Moon (3rd lord) exalted in Lagna
5th lord (natal Rāśi) Saturn — aspects 5th house and Putra Sāhamam
Jupiter Aspects Putra Sāhamam, its lord Mars, and 5th house

Dasha giving the child: Jupiter (Tithi Pravesh year) — child born April 28.

Instructor's retrospective ranking of likely planets:

  1. Moon (Chara Putra Karaka, exalted in D-7 Lagna, 3rd/5th lord, in Putra Sāhamam from natal)
  2. Saturn (5th lord in natal; 9th lord in Saptāṃśa for even-sign Lagna, aspects 5th)
  3. Jupiter (natural Putra Karaka, Gaja Kesari) ← actual planet

Second child: If dasha crosses Ketu, next sign lord is Venus (with Jupiter in Scorpio) → Jupiter dominates → likely boy again.

🔮 Natal vs. Tithi Pravesh — What Governs Prediction?

[!IMPORTANT] Key principle clarified in class:

flowchart LR
    A[Prediction question] --> B{Which tool?}
    B --> C[Using Vimshottari / Narayana Dasha\nfrom natal chart]
    B --> D[Using Tithi Pravesh Dasha\nfor a specific year]
    C --> E[Reference the NATAL chart\nfor house/planet meanings]
    D --> F[Reference the TITHI PRAVESH chart\nfor that year's planets]
    G[WHO TO PROPITIATE?] --> H[Always use NATAL chart\nexcept at the exact\nmoment the new year begins]
  • Different planets can produce similar combinations in natal vs. Tithi Pravesh — this is normal and expected.
  • When the same planet gives the same result in both charts, confidence in prediction is very high.
  • When a similar combination (not identical planet) appears in both, prediction is still valid.
  • Example: Natal chart had 7th lord Moon in Lagna; Tithi Pravesh had Lagna lord Saturn in 7th → different planets, same Lagna–7th axis theme → independence confirmed for post-November.

📚 Upcoming: Reading BPHS

The instructor announced: Starting next class, the group will read Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra (BPHS) directly.

  • Will not start from basic chapters (Sun's nature, etc.)
  • Will begin from a later chapter — likely Ādhāra / Argala (Śubha Argala)
  • Goal: understand what Parāśara actually wrote vs. what tradition (Sanjay Rath's lineage) teaches
  • Students are now considered ready for primary-source study

[!WARNING] The instructor cautioned against misattributing teachings to Parāśara without verifying the source text. Some Jyotiṣa teachers habitually say "Parāśara says..." for their own interpretations. Reading the original will help students distinguish the two.
