🌀 Narayan Dasha — The Three-Parts Rule in Detail

Each Narayan Dasha Mahadasha is divided into three equal parts. When each part gives results depends on whether the sign (Rasi) is Shirshodaya, Prishtodaya, or Ubhayodaya.

The Three Parts — What Each Contains

First one-third (Sign's own period):

• Results of the sign itself
• Arudha Padas falling in the sign (A3, A4, A7, A9, UL etc.)
• Signs aspecting the dasha sign (by Rashi Drishti)
• Houses aspecting the sign
• This is the inanimate portion — all static, non-personal factors peak here

Middle / Second one-third (Occupants + Aspecters):

• Planets occupying the dasha sign
• Planets aspecting the sign by Rashi Drishti
• These are the animate influences

Third one-third (Lord):

• Lord of the dasha sign
• The sign lord's own position, yogas, and avasthas determine quality

⏳ Malefic vs Benefic: Task-List Order in Sub-Periods

When a planet controls a sub-period within Narayan Dasha (as occupant, aspector, or lord), it gives results in a specific sequential order depending on whether it is a natural benefic or malefic:

Chart: Male, b. Jan 11 1978, 12:23 PM, Methuen MA. Aries lagna, Moon in Aquarius. Subject: Dropped out of college, in meditation/seclusion; mother sought consultation.

Leo Mahadasha (1998–2006) — Education Analysis

Leo is a Shirshodaya sign:

• 1st one-third (1998–2000): Leo itself — 5th house (abilities). Not inherently bad.
• 2nd one-third (2000 Sep–2003 May): Saturn occupies Leo (5th house)

Saturn's Sub-Period Breakdown

[!WARNING] Saturn in Sun's house: Saturn hates being with his father (Sun). He is waiting to leave. He is forced there, resentful. The dispositor will not cooperate. This is a deeply uncomfortable placement.

Chandra-Shani Yoga (Moon + Saturn conjunct or aspecting):

• At mild: disinterest in material things, lack of motivation

• At strong: can trigger renunciation-like withdrawal or depression

• Here: Moon in Aquarius (Saturn's sign) → strong Shani influence on Moon

• 3rd one-third (2003 May–2006 Jan): Sun (lord of Leo) gives his results

Sun's Sub-Period Breakdown

[!IMPORTANT] Sun + Venus conjunction: One of the most uncomfortable Raja Yogas. Venus is watery (Jal tattva); Sun is fire (Agni tattva). Their closeness causes Venus to lose power — like the Parasurama–Rama meeting where Parasurama lost all his energy to Rama. Planets to combine well in Raja Yoga: Sun-Mars, Sun-Jupiter, Venus-Saturn, Venus-Mercury. Not Sun-Venus.

Conclusion for this Mahadasha: The 2000–2003 Saturn period triggered the dropout. The 2003+ Sun period shows gradual improvement. By 2005 onward, the native becomes more interested in completing studies.

Virgo = Shirshodaya (Virgo is sign 6 → the 6th in the zodiac) Lord = Mercury (in Sagittarius = Prishtodaya) → lord gives results in last one-third

Sequencing the 6 Planets in 2nd One-Third

Order = decreasing longitude (AK before AMK, etc. using Chara Karaka order as guide):

Sun → Venus → Rahu → Ketu → Jupiter → Mercury

Each gets ~6 months (3 years ÷ 6 = 6 months each):

[!WARNING] The 2010 Jan–Jul Rahu period should be watched for health. Cross-check with the 2010 Tithi Pravesh chart: Hora lord Mercury (6th lord) is with Rahu and Gulika/Mandi within 3° → corroborates health concern. Advise precautions from 2009 onwards.

📚 D24 Siddhamsha & Education — The Right Narayan Dasha

Two D24 Narayan Dasha types:

[!NOTE] 4th house = basic/school education; 9th house = bachelor's/university education; 10th house = professional/career learning. Use appropriate house lord as seed for the corresponding educational concern.

In jHora: Options button in Narayan Dasha → change "Start dashas from" to the D24 sign containing the relevant seed lord.

Example: Taurus Dasha in D24 Education (1990–2001)

Taurus is Sirshodaya → sign gives results first, occupants/aspecters second, lord (Venus) last.

In the last one-third: the sign gives its results via inanimate factors — A8 and A3 are both aspecting Taurus in D24 → indicates a break in education (A8 = complete break; A3 = short break). This period indeed saw the native drop out of college.

Next dasha — Gemini (D24, 2001–2006):

• Gemini is Sirshodaya → lord Mercury (also Sirshodaya) gives in last one-third
• Last sub-period: Sun gives results of 4th lord in 2nd house (resources for learning) → relatively better; native tries to enroll
• Final sub-period: Saturn (9th and 10th lord in D24) aspects Gemini → Yogakaraka for this chart → duty, recognition, fulfilling dharma
• Tithi Pravesh 2005: Hora lord Sun in 5th house; lagna lord Venus + 9th lord Mercury in quadrant = Raja Yoga → strong candidate year for resuming bachelor's education

Conclusion: After March 2005, the native becomes more dutiful toward finishing his degree. The coming years (especially 2006–2012 in Rasi Narayan Dasha) are very good for career and lucky breaks.

🪔 Droha Dasha — Spiritual Progress Indicator

A special dasha that shows when God's light (Droha) falls on the native and guides spiritual progress.

For this chart: All four Droha Dasha signs from birth are dual signs → Ketu's influence is persistent from birth → native has been spiritually inclined from earliest age (confirmed: grew up in household frequently visited by swamis). Virgo dasha, however, brings Rahu's occupation → this is primarily a period of confusion, not true spiritual progress.

🏠 Dvadashamsha Narayan Dasha — Relationship with Parents

Purpose: Shows the give-and-take between the native and parents; how the native behaves with parents; how parents support the native.

Seed: Twelfth lord of Rasi chart placed in Dvadashamsha (D12).

Reading the current Pisces Dasha (D12):

Verdict: Worst phase of parent friction is over; subsequent years (after 2007) bring much better relationship with parents.

🧬 Pitra Narayan Dasha — What Happens to Father

Technique: Take the 9th house as Lagna (9th house = father). Find the stronger of the 9th house sign and its opposite. Run Narayan Dasha from the stronger sign. Interpret as if the 9th house sign were the father's personal Lagna.
