🙏 Opening Prayers & Acknowledgements
The class opens with the invocatory mantra sequence:
Om Gaṇānāṃ pa Gaṇapatiṃ havāmahe… Om śrī mahāgaṇapataye namaḥ… Om hrīṃ hrīṃ jyotirbrahmāya namaḥ. Om hrīṃ hrīṃ nyagājasnā mūrtaye namaḥ. Hare Rāma Kṛṣṇa (×3)
Teacher's note on gifts: The real gift is learning the knowledge. Material gifts are unnecessary. The best gift given this year — a summarized text-book of the lessons — is praised because it combines learning and giving: text is a multi-dimensional format; audio is one-dimensional. Gratitude should be directed to Mahārṣi, Achutananda Dāsa (originator of the paramparā), and Śrī Sañjay Rath who brought this knowledge into the open.

🌌 Annual Chart (Viparita Rayi) Analysis
The Viparita Rayi (solar return) was cast for 12 November 1979, 10:20 PM, Bangalore, covering the 37th year.
Annual Rasi Chart Highlights
| House | Occupants | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Lagna (Gemini) | Māṇḍi | Lagna is 9th from natal Libra — auspicious placement |
| 3rd | Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Rahu | Four planets, all interacting (see exchange rules) |
| 4th | Saturn | Sukha-lopa — depletes happiness/comfort |
| 6th | Debilitated Sun (Badhakesha), Venus, Mercury | Rāja Yoga from Lagna lord (Venus) + 5th lord |
[!IMPORTANT] Planet-exchange rule (four planets in one sign): Arrange by natural beneficence (Jupiter > Moon > Mars > Rahu), then exchange results in pairs: first ↔ last, second ↔ second-from-last. So Mars gives Moon results; Rahu gives Jupiter results — but see caveat below on Rahu exchanges.
Year ruler: Saturn (in 4th house). Hora lord well-placed in a kendra.
Yogas in the Annual Chart
- Graha Malika Yoga (4-sign chain in Rasi) culminating in the Venus–Mercury Raja Yoga in the 6th house.
- Raja Yoga: Lagna lord Venus + 5th lord Mercury conjunct (both at close degrees: Venus 6°, Mercury 11°).
- Sukha-lopa: Saturn in 4th robs happiness; Moon afflicted by Mars and Rahu → no mental peace that year.
[!WARNING] Moon (peace of mind karaka) is in the 12th from the 4th house and afflicted by both Mars and Rahu. Jupiter and Moon as 10th/2nd lords afflicted by Rahu in 3rd house. Despite the Raja Yoga, this year brings achievement without peace of mind.
Inference Before Knowing the Event
| Domain | Indication |
|---|---|
| Career | Good — Jupiter (10th lord) in Hansa Yoga in D10; but afflicted by enemy Venus (8th lord) in D10 |
| Marriage | Concern — 7th lord Jupiter in Māraṇa Kāraka Sthāna (MKS), Venus (karaka) also in MKS |
| Children | Concern — 5th lord Moon in MKS; Sun (karaka) in MKS; Ketu grahana in 5th house |
| Health/Body | Concern — Mars (6th lord) afflicted by Rahu, affecting 8th; Moon (2nd lord/maraka) in 3rd with Rahu |
🔬 Divisional Chart Deep Dives
Navamsa
- 7th lord again in MKS; Venus (karaka for marriage) also in MKS.
- From 7th house as lagna: 8th lord Moon in 7th house; Rahu in 8th house → afflictions to marriage.
- Saturn + Ketu strong in 2nd from 7th house (Māraṇa sthāna).
Saptamsa (D7) — Children
- Lagna lord Jupiter in 12th house.
- Children mapping rule: 1st child → Aries (lord Mars → Leo as reference lagna); 2nd child → Cancer; 3rd child → Aries; 4th child → Leo.
- All key indicators (5th lord, Jupiter as Putra karaka, Putra Sahamam) in or affected by MKS.
- Ketu afflicts Sun (another children karaka) in the 5th house (grahana of Sun).
- First child did not survive (confirmed). Concern for 3rd child also indicated.
Sahamams:
| Sahamam | Location | Implication |
|---|---|---|
| Vivāha Sahamam | Aries (lord Mars) | Marriage linked to Mars energy |
| Putra Sahamam | Gemini | 5th lord + Putra Sahamam lord conjunct → 6th + 7th lords there — some protection but afflicted by Ketu |
Sashtamsa D6 — Health & Accidents
[!NOTE] D6 rules: Sixth lord in eighth or eighth lord in sixth (Viparita Raja Yoga equivalents in D6) are not auspicious here — they indicate illness, accidents, quarrels, or attacks from other beings.
- Mars (6th lord in Rasi) is in 8th house of D6 → sudden injury/accident indicated.
- Jupiter (8th lord) conjunct Mars in D6's 8th house; Jupiter acts as Bhakhesha Mars → "terrible hit."
- Sixth lord of D6 is exalted but in Māraṇa Kāraka Sthāna, aspecting Mars.
- Parivartana between Saturn and Venus in D6 → Venus (vehicle karaka) indirectly involved; may have softened the violence.
Conclusion from D6: Some sudden serious injury/accident is likely. Not initially confirmed as vehicular from D6 alone.
Shodashamsa D16 — Vehicles
- Lagna lord and 9th lord in mutual aspect.
- Sixth lord Sun in 3rd house; 8th lord Venus in 2nd house.
- Hora lord not prominently involved in negative yoga → vehicular accident less confirmed here.
- Key clarification: D16 shows accidents involving one's own vehicle. If another vehicle struck the person, D16 of the native will not show it clearly — the accident appears in D6.
Trimsamsa D30 — Sufferings & Pancha-Tattva

🌀 Vimshottari Dasha & Gandanta Warning
Natal Dasha running at time of event: Venus Mahādāśā, Jupiter Antaradāśā

B --> C{Jupiter in Gandanta
29° Cancer
9 minutes from Leo border}
C --> D[Afflicted by Rahu
Atmakaraka
Functional malefic]
D --> E[VEHICULAR ACCIDENT
14 Jan 1980
Leg injuries — survived]
The Gandanta Principle
[!IMPORTANT] Gandanta = the junction between water and fire signs: Pisces/Aries, Cancer/Leo, Scorpio/Sagittarius. The last Navamsa of the water sign and first Navamsa of the fire sign (technically ~3°20′ on each side) constitute Gandanta. The final 1° of Cancer and first 1° of Leo are especially malefic.
Jupiter here is at 29°51′ Cancer — only 9 minutes from the Gandanta border. This is extreme Gandanta.
| Factor | Status |
|---|---|
| Planet | Jupiter |
| Functional role | 3rd & 6th lord (functional malefic) |
| Placement | Gandanta (29°51′ Cancer — 9′ from Leo) |
| Affliction | Rahu (moderately close conjunction) |
| Atmakaraka? | Yes |
| D6 position | 8th house with Mars (Bhakhesha) |
| D7 position | 8th house, owns 8th |
Lesson: Even a Devaguru like Jupiter, when placed in Gandanta as a functional malefic and afflicted, will deliver a serious blow in his Antardasha. The fact that Jupiter is Atmakaraka prevented death — Atmakaraka never wants to end the soul's journey; the accident became life-changing and potentially spiritually awakening.
[!TIP] If a client comes before a Jupiter Antardasha and Jupiter is in deep Gandanta, advise Mrityunjaya Mantra (108 times daily for 40 days) to reduce the magnitude of the event. Astrologers cannot avoid karma but can reduce its intensity.
Result-Exchange Rule Revisited: Rahu with Jupiter/Moon/Sun
flowchart TD
R[Rahu joins Jupiter or Moon or Sun] --> Q{Will they exchange results?}
Q -->|NO| E[Jupiter/Moon/Sun will not exchange with Rahu
They repel Rahu — no 'picking up habits']
Q -->|Maybe| M[Only if a mediator planet e.g. Mercury
is also present and convinces Jupiter]
E --> N[Each planet gives own results
Rahu adds affliction to Jupiter/Moon/Sun]
Rule: Jupiter, Sun, and Moon will never voluntarily exchange results with Rahu when conjunct (only two planets). Mars may sometimes exchange with Rahu. If a third planet like Mercury is present, it may mediate and an exchange could occur. When uncertain, use intuition and check additional factors (sign lord's friendship with Rahu, aspects, etc.).
🌐 Trimsamsa (D30) & Pancha-Tattva Doctrine
Three Variants of D30
| Variant | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Parashara D30 (standard) | Vulnerabilities / weaknesses in the body |
| Parivritti Trimsamsa | Evils the person is currently committing |
| Sashtamsya-like Trimsamsa | Sufferings due to past evils (karmic debts) |
Use Parivritti for moral/legal investigations ("did this person commit a crime?"). Use Sashtamsya-like for "will this person suffer this year?" Use standard Parashara D30 for identifying physical vulnerabilities.
Pancha-Tattva in Trimsamsa
In D30 no planet occupies Cancer or Leo (those signs are excluded). The remaining ten signs map to the five tattvas:
| Sign Owner | Signs | Tattva | Physical Manifestation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mercury | Gemini, Virgo | Pṛthvī (Earth) | Bones, skin — possible fractures |
| Venus | Taurus, Libra | Jala (Water) | Blood disorders, blood pressure, depression, semen, nerve marrow |
| Mars | Aries, Scorpio | Agni (Fire) | Metabolism, digestion, heart, lungs, thinking/mental fire |
| Jupiter | Sagittarius, Pisces | Ākāśa (Ether/Space) | Binds all elements; loss of Ākāśa = most serious, threatens holistic existence |
| Saturn | Capricorn, Aquarius | Vāyu (Air) | Vata disorders, anxiety, breathing, nervous system |
[!IMPORTANT] If Rahu and Ketu occupy a Mercury sign (Gemini/Virgo) in D30 and afflict a key planet → possible bone fracture in life. If in Jupiter sign → serious, even life-threatening event (Manuṣya Hatyā Yoga if Jupiter is also there with nodes).
In this annual D30: Rahu–Ketu in Sagittarius (Jupiter's sign = Ākāśa Tattva) conjunct Jupiter himself (Manuṣya Hatyā Yoga). Most serious possible outcome for that year confirmed.
Akasha Tattva: Unlike other tattvas, Ākāśa has no single physical signification — it binds all elements together. Ruled by Viṣṇu among the Pañca Loka Pālakas. When Ākāśa is afflicted, existential/systemic threats arise.
⚡ Shula Dasha (Shora Dasha) Principles
Shula Dasha (also called Shora Dasha) is Shiva's progression through the zodiac. It shows Shiva's śūla (trident) striking various houses — bringing serious illness, accidents, or death.
Computation
flowchart LR
A[Identify Lagna and 7th house] --> B[Take the stronger of the two]
B --> C[Start Shula Dasha from that sign]
C --> D[Move zodiacally, one sign at a time]
D --> E[Each sign = 9 years]
- No complex calculation needed — entirely mental.
- No Antardasha required; just the Dasha sign is sufficient for analysis.
Key Signs to Watch
| Priority | Sign Type | Implication |
|---|---|---|
| Highest | Trines from Arudha Lagna (AL, 5th, 9th from AL) | Maya/manifest existence of the person attacked |
| High | 3rd from AL | Circumstances relating to longevity/death |
| High | Sthira Karaka of the relative in question | Shiva's main spoke directly hitting that signification |
| Supporting | Malefic aspects from 6th/8th lord, Bādhakeśa, Gandanta planet to those signs | Intensifies the blow |
[!NOTE] Shula Dasha governs serious events only (not minor scratches). If a Shula Dasha sign is afflicted, it indicates major suffering, grave illness, or death — not small setbacks.
In this chart: Aquarius = most malefic trine from Arudha Lagna. Afflicted by Badhakesha Sun, Jupiter (6th lord in deep Gandanta afflicted by Rahu), and Moon. During Aquarius Shula Dasha, a major health blow is expected.
Pitru Shula Dasha (for Father's Events)
To see events affecting father from a child's chart, start Shula Dasha from the 9th house (stronger of 9th and its 7th).
From Kiran's chart:
- 9th house = Taurus. Stronger of Taurus/Scorpio = Taurus. First Dasha = Taurus.
- Event happened in Taurus Dasha itself (first Dasha).
- A9 (Arudha of 9th house) = Capricorn. Trines from Capricorn → Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn.
- In Taurus: Sun (pitru karaka) afflicted by Ketu (a maraka for 9th house); Ketu itself is a maraka.
- Sthira Pitru Karaka = stronger of Sun and Venus = Sun (daytime chart, 4 planets). Sun is in that same sign under attack.
- Conclusion: Serious suffering to father confirmed.
👨👦 Reading a Relative's Events from One's Own Chart
Three reference points for father (from native's chart):
flowchart TD
F[Seeing Father's Events] --> N[9th House
Guidance received from father
Obstacle = 6th lord as Dasha]
F --> A9[A9 — Arudha of 9th House
Manifestation of father in material world]
F --> L9[L9 — Arudha of 9th Lord
Father as a living/breathing entity]
N --> R1[Shows: quality of paternal guidance
Mercury 6th lord → obstacle to guidance]
A9 --> R2[Shows: material events around father
Trines from A9 during Shula Dasha]
L9 --> R3[Shows: what happens to father himself
Mercury Dasha: 6th+9th lord, 2nd house = possible accident
Moon Antardasha: Maraka lord in 6th = Maraka]
From Dvadashamsha (D12):
- Shows both what happens to parents and how the native feels about/is affected by it.
- Moon (12th lord, exalted) in 12th from AL, with A6 and A8 → loss/struggle relating to father; temporary break in fathering.
- Bhoga from Mercury to Moon = 4 houses → Leo = 8th house results for father as a person (sudden unexpected events).
[!NOTE] D12 does not show "father had a vehicular accident." It shows the native's experience of the father's event — loss of contact, suffering, obstacle to guidance. To know what happened to father, use L9 and A9 as reference lagnas, then apply standard Dasha logic.
🦴 Body-Part Correspondences by House
| House | Body Region |
|---|---|
| 1st | Head |
| 2nd | Face, eyes |
| 3rd | Shoulders, throat |
| 4th | Heart, chest |
| 5th | Stomach, upper digestive system |
| 6th | Lower abdomen, colon, intestines, liver, pancreas |
| 7th | Inner reproductive organs, uterus |
| 8th | Guhyāṅgas — anus, external genitalia (Parāśara) |
| 9th | Thighs |
| 10th | Knees |
| 11th | Calves, ankles |
| 12th | Feet |
Special rules for body-part prediction in Dasha:
| Lord | Reference for Body Part |
|---|---|
| 8th lord Antardasha | Sign occupied by 8th lord → count from natural zodiac (Aries = 1) |
| 6th lord Antardasha | House occupied → count from Lagna of the chart |
| Other lords | From Lagna generally |
Example: 8th lord Venus in Leo (5th sign of natural zodiac) → stomach issues. 6th lord Mars in 10th house → knee/leg area.
Confirmed for Chandrashekar: Jupiter (6th lord) in Gandanta (Cancer/Leo junction, late Cancer) → leg problems. Jupiter in 10th house from Lagna → knee area. Accident resulted in leg injuries.
💼 Career Reading from Dashamsa (D10)
| Planet | Career Indication |
|---|---|
| Mercury + Jupiter (8th house, D10) | Banking, insurance, finance; Mercury = commerce karaka; Jupiter = financial institutions |
| Saturn (10th lord in 6th from 10th, D10) | Routine jobs, laborious Saturn-type work; obstacles in career path |
| Rahu (with Saturn in 10th) | Routine/unconventional jobs (per Dr. Raman) |
Chandrashekar's career: Started with odd/Saturnine jobs → switched to banking (~age 35, joined bank in 1969). Mercury's Daśā gave the switch to Mercurian (banking) career. Assignment: Verify via D10 Dashas which exact period triggered the switch.
📊 Key Doctrinal Rules Consolidated
| # | Rule | Details |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Gandanta planets are never ignored | Any planet within 1 Navamsa (~3°20′) of Cancer/Leo, Scorpio/Sagittarius, Pisces/Aries borders will deliver a serious blow during its Dasha/Antardasha |
| 2 | Annual chart vs. natal chart | The natal Vimshottari Dasha provides stronger indication than the annual chart alone; always cross-check both |
| 3 | Hora lord involvement | If the hora lord is involved in a yoga in a divisional chart, that yoga is very likely to fructify |
| 4 | D6 Viparita Raj Yoga | 6th/8th lords together or in each other's houses in D6 = illness/accident indicator, not auspicious |
| 5 | D16 scope | Only shows accidents involving one's own vehicle; accidents by other vehicles appear in D6 |
| 6 | Atmakaraka Dasha | Unlikely to cause death; will cause serious suffering that awakens spirituality; protects life even in worst accidents |
| 7 | Maraka from 9th house | 2nd and 7th lords from the 9th house are Maraka for father; Ketu and Mars here |
| 8 | Planet-exchange with Rahu | Jupiter, Sun, Moon alone with Rahu → no exchange; Mars may exchange; Mercury as mediator may enable exchange |
| 9 | Shula Dasha targets | Trines from AL and 3rd from AL; Sthira Karaka of relative; malefic aspects to those signs intensify |
| 10 | D30 no Cancer/Leo | In Trimsamsa (Parashara), no planet occupies Cancer or Leo |
| 11 | Tattva → body part | Mercury signs = bones; Venus signs = blood/fluids; Mars signs = metabolism/heart; Jupiter signs = systemic/Akasha; Saturn signs = breathing/Vata |
| 12 | Parivartana softens | Saturn–Venus Parivartana in D6: Venus (vehicle karaka) softened the Mars–Saturn violent combination |
| 13 | 4th house Saturn | Sukha-lopa — Saturn in 4th house depletes happiness and comfort from that house regardless of other yogas |
| 14 | Bhaga / Bhoga | Count from Dasha lord to Antardasha lord; that house's results are experienced during the period |
🔗 Cross-References
