📋 Table of Contents

📘 v1 Series — 100 classes

v1 Batch 1 — Classes 01–10

Named Yogas — Batch 1 (v1–v10)

class-01

  • Raja Yoga: Kendra lord (1/4/7/10) + Trikona lord (1/5/9) combined (conjunct, mutual aspect, or exchange). Both must involve the same chart. Gives authority, success, recognition.
  • Maharaja Yoga: 1st and 5th lords together in 1st or 5th house. Most powerful Raja Yoga; native has kingly status.
  • Dharma Karma Adhipati Yoga: 9th lord + 10th lord together. Combination of dharmic fortune and righteous action.

class-02

  • Yoga Karaka: Single planet owning BOTH a kendra (1/4/7/10) AND a trikona (1/5/9). Makes that planet exceptionally auspicious for that lagna.
    • Venus = Yoga Karaka for Capricorn lagna (owns 5th + 10th) and Aquarius lagna (owns 4th + 9th)
    • Mars = Yoga Karaka for Cancer lagna (owns 5th + 10th) and Leo lagna (owns 4th + 9th)
  • Mahapurusha Yogas: Strong planet in own/exaltation/Moolathrikona sign AND in a kendra (1/4/7/10)
    • Hamsa Yoga: Jupiter in kendra in own/exaltation
    • Ruchaka Yoga: Mars in kendra in own/exaltation
    • Bhadra Yoga: Mercury in kendra in own/exaltation
    • Malavya Yoga: Venus in kendra in own/exaltation
    • Shasha Yoga: Saturn in kendra in own/exaltation

class-03

  • Viparita Raja Yoga: Dusthana lord (6th, 8th, or 12th) placed in another dusthana house. First brings turbulence/reversal, then gives unexpected great results at the end of the dasha period.
    • Example: 6th lord in 8th, 8th lord in 12th, 12th lord in 6th, etc.
    • Two dusthana lords together = Viparita Raja Yoga
  • Graha Malika Yoga: Four or more planets in consecutive houses (Rahu and Ketu excluded). Shows a chain of activity and significance.

class-04

  • Neecha Bhanga Raja Yoga: Debilitated planet whose dignity is cancelled. Two methods:
    1. Lord of the sign of debilitation OR lord of the exaltation sign of the debilitated planet is in a kendra from Lagna or Moon
    2. Debilitated planet is retrograde (vakra) — gives results of exaltation (Neecha Bhanga via vakra)
    • Result: Not just cancellation of weakness; gives Raja Yoga results after initial struggle
  • Parivarthana (Exchange) Yoga: Two planets each in the other's sign; they behave as if they are in each other's houses. Opens new connections and exchanges between those two house significances.

class-05

  • Tapasvi Yoga: Venus + Saturn + Ketu in conjunction, mutual trine, or opposition. Planets of aesthetics + detachment + moksha = combination for austere spiritual practice.
    • Seen in Swami Chandrasekhara Saraswati's chart (all three together)

class-06

  • Gaja Kesari Yoga: Jupiter in a kendra from Moon. Strength spectrum:
    • Weak: Jupiter in enemy sign/debilitation
    • Medium: Jupiter in neutral sign
    • Strong (full yoga): Jupiter in own/exaltation/Moolathrikona AND in kendra from Moon AND NOT in 6/8/12 from Lagna
    • Result: great wisdom, fame, prosperity; strength proportional to Jupiter's dignity
  • Tapasvi Yoga (confirmed): Seen in Shankaracharya chart — Venus+Saturn+Ketu. "Tapas" = austerity/penance; this combination produces great ascetics.

class-07

  • Dharma Karma Adhipati Yoga in Dasamsha: 9th + 10th lords together in D10 confirms ethical, principled career (seen in Tom Hanks' D10 — Jupiter-Saturn).
  • Parivarthana in Dasamsha: Jupiter-Mars exchange in Amartya Sen's D10 = benefics exchanging houses; scholar doing forceful, reformist economic work.
  • Vaisheshika Amsha: Not a yoga per se but a strength marker — planet achieving same position in multiple divisional charts.
    • Simhasana (5 vargas same): planet "sits on throne" — highly stable, powerful
    • Devaloka (7 vargas): planet among divine; great blessings
    • Sri Dham (all 16): rarest; planet fully manifest across all planes

class-08

  • Argala: Not a yoga but an "intervention" — planet in 2nd, 4th, or 11th from a reference point causes conclusive Argala (must manifest eventually). Planets in 12th, 10th, 3rd cause Virodha Argala (obstruction). Malefic in 3rd = secondary Argala.

class-09

  • Viparita Raja Yoga application (June 1949 chart): 8th lord debilitated in 3rd = Viparita; gave unexpected success after struggle.
  • Neecha Bhanga via Retrograde (PVR's example): Debilitated retrograde planet = exaltation results; "vakra graha neecha bhanga."

class-10

  • Viparita Raja Yoga (India's Navamsha): Venus (3rd+8th lord) + Saturn (12th+11th lord) in 11th house = two dusthana lords together. First struggle in foreign relations, then sudden rise — India's foreign policy under Venus Dasha culminating in Saturn Antardasha (2002-03).
  • Raja Yoga (Navamsha, personal chart): Lagna lord Mars + 7th lord Venus in same house = trikona lord + kendra lord = Raja Yoga for marriage/Dharma. Even enemies can create Raja Yoga.
  • Second marriage indicator: Take 8th house from 7th house in Navamsha = house of second marriage. Third marriage = 8th from that, and so on.
  • Deva/Manushya/Rakshasa Amshas in Navamsha: Quality of Dharma followed — Deva=compassion/giving, Manushya=human balance, Rakshasa=selfish/tamasic.

v1 Batch 2 — Classes 11–20

Yogas — Batch 2

Yoga — Pancha Mahapurusha (Five Great-Person Yogas)

Source: class-13 Required combination: One of the five planets (Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn) must be in a quadrant (kendra) from Lagna in its own sign or exaltation. Effect: The native becomes a Mahapurusha — a great person endowed with superhuman qualities related to that planet's element/Tattva. Mercury in kendra → Bhadra Yoga. Jupiter in kendra → Hamsa Yoga. Venus in kendra → Malavya Yoga. Mars in kendra → Ruchaka Yoga. Saturn in kendra → Shasha Yoga. Strength factors: The yoga is powerful when the planet is in its own sign or exaltation and actually in a kendra. Being vargottama adds strength. Cancellation: "First thing to remove from your mind is that Mahapurusha Yoga applies to all three Rashis" — it applies strictly when in kendra. Weak or debilitated planets cannot form strong yoga. Example: Jawaharlal Nehru had Venus in kendra forming Malavya Yoga (Venus Mahapurusha Yoga) — the Jala Tattva was dominant. He was tested in matters of Venus (relationships, desires). (class-13) Notes: "To be defined as a Mahapurusha, the person must be tested in the area of that planet and must pass the test. Only then can one be called a Mahapurusha." (class-13)

Yoga — Hamsa Yoga (Jupiter Mahapurusha)

Source: class-13, class-15 Required combination: Jupiter in a kendra (1, 4, 7, or 10) in own sign (Sagittarius, Pisces) or exaltation (Cancer). Effect: Extreme purity, wisdom, spiritual strength. Person is incorruptible. Jupiter's purity pervades the chart. Notes: "Jupiter's strength is his purity — if he is not pure, he is lost, he is not Jupiter." (class-13)

Yoga — Bhadra Yoga (Mercury Mahapurusha)

Source: class-11 Required combination: Mercury in a kendra in own sign (Gemini or Virgo) or exaltation (Virgo). Effect: Very strong analytical intelligence, superb speech, sharp learning ability. Example: In Sanjay Gandhi's son's Saptamsa, Mercury in own sign in a quadrant gave Bhadra Yoga — an exceptionally intelligent and logical person. (class-11)

Yoga — Gajakesari Yoga

Source: class-11, class-15 Required combination: Moon and Jupiter conjoined or in mutual quadrant. Effect: Great fame long after death; noble, large-hearted, compassionate nature; prosperity. Strength factors: Yoga is strongest when both planets are strong, in friendly signs, and in a kendra or trikona. Example: In George W. Bush's Navamsa, Moon and Jupiter in the 10th house form Gajakesari Yoga — making him famous for the karma he does based on his ideology, long after he is gone. (class-15)

Yoga — Chandra Mangala Yoga

Source: class-11 Required combination: Moon and Mars conjoined. Effect: Makes a person a great achiever; gives abundant resources (Moon = mind/resources, Mars = initiative); strong drive, material success. Strength factors: Yoga is powerful when both planets are in a friendly sign. In Rajiv Gandhi's Drekkana, Moon and Mars were in Jupiter's sign, giving full results. Example: Rajiv Gandhi's Drekkana chart showed Chandra Mangala Yoga with Moon and Mars in Sagittarius (Jupiter's sign) — strong materialising energy. (class-11)

Yoga — Raja Yoga (General)

Source: class-11, class-14, class-15, class-20 Required combination: Conjunction or mutual aspect of lords of a kendra (1, 4, 7, 10) and lords of a trikona (1, 5, 9). Effect: Rise to prominence, power, success in life according to the nature of the planets and the houses they rule. Strength factors: Tightest conjunction (within 6 degrees) gives strongest result. Conjunction in Lagna or 5th house = Maharaja Yoga. Notes: "If Lagna lord and 5th lord conjoin, that is Maharaja Yoga — especially in the 1st or 5th house." (class-20 — Bush Muhurta chart: Mars + Sun in 5th). Also: Atmakaraka + Putra Karaka in 1st or 5th = Maharaja Yoga through followers. Atmakaraka + Pitru Karaka in 1st or 5th = Maharaja Yoga through blessings of elders.

Yoga — Dharma Karma Adhipati Yoga

Source: class-11 Required combination: 9th lord and 10th lord conjoin or aspect each other. Effect: Person discharges duties sincerely in society; high integration of dharma and karma; typically rises in career through righteousness. Example: In Sanjay Gandhi's Navamsa, from Cancer Lagna: Jupiter (9th lord) and Mars (10th lord) together for Maneka Gandhi — she discharges duties sincerely. (class-11)

Yoga — Viparita Raja Yoga

Source: class-11 Required combination: Lord of a dusthana (6, 8, or 12) is placed in another dusthana. Effect: Sudden unexpected rise after struggle and adversity; reversals that ultimately benefit the native. Example: In Sanjay Gandhi's Dasamsa, Sun (12th lord) in the 8th house gives Viparita Raja Yoga — sudden political rise (1967–1973) after struggle. Rahu (8th lord) in 12th for Maneka Gandhi gives Viparita Raja Yoga — after constant tension and worry, she comes up trumps (1990–2008). (class-11)

Yoga — Neecha Bhanga Raja Yoga

Source: class-11 Required combination: A debilitated planet gets cancelled/compensated, typically when the lord of the debilitation sign, or the planet that would be exalted in that sign, is strong. Effect: The debilitation is neutralised and the planet gives powerful results, often making the native very successful after initial struggle. Notes: "If the 8th lord is debilitated, it is good — you don't want the 8th lord to be excited. When a dusthana lord is weak, that is good materially." (class-11) — Note: Nija Bhanga is referenced here; exact Neecha Bhanga rules are alluded to but not defined in full in these classes.

Yoga — Jaya Yoga

Source: class-11 Required combination: Lagna lord is reasonably strong; 10th lord is exalted; 6th lord is debilitated. Effect: Victory over enemies; obstacles reduced; achievements come relatively easily; smooth career path. Notes: "Jaya means victory. 10th lord exalted and 6th lord debilitated is good — 6th house becomes weak so not many obstacles to overcome." (class-11)

Yoga — Tapasvi Yoga

Source: class-14 Required combination: Saturn, Ketu, and Venus are together, OR in mutual trines, OR have significant argala relationships with each other. Effect: Tremendous spiritual perseverance; the native pursues a goal with cold discipline (Saturn), detachment (Ketu), and passionate energy (Venus). Makes a great researcher or spiritual ascetic. Example: In the chart of the Indian astrologer (October 12, 1931), Saturn and Ketu together in Dasamsa 4th house with Venus Argala on them formed an approximate Tapasvi Yoga — showing lifelong devoted research in Vedic astrology. (class-14)

Yoga — Graha Malika Yoga (Mala Yoga / Garland Yoga)

Source: class-18, class-20 Required combination: Planets occupy consecutive signs forming a chain/garland (minimum 4–5 consecutive signs each occupied by at least one planet). Effect: The first planet (seed) shows the starting point and nature of the theme; the last planet (culminator) shows the final fruit. The intermediate planets carry the story forward. Gives great and comprehensive results in the matters ruled by the planets/houses involved. Notes: "The Dasha of the AK seeding a Graha Malika is auspicious for spiritual growth — it sets the direction of spiritual development." (class-18). When the Atmakaraka is the seed, Venus Dasha (if Venus = AK) triggers spiritual search. The culmination in a strong Moon owning A9 and A8 means engagement with a religious order/ashram AND occult sadhana. (class-18)

Yoga — Budhaditya Yoga (Nipuna Yoga)

Source: class-20 Required combination: Sun and Mercury conjoin in the same sign. Effect: Intelligence, quick learning, capability. Strong in Dasamsa or Siddhamsha (D24). In Rashi chart alone, very common (nearly 50% of births) so weaker effect. Notes: "Budhaditya Yoga works best when they are very close — Mercury near the Sun shows the learning ability intimately conjoined with the soul." (class-20). Mercury combustion by Sun is NOT harmful for Mercury (unlike Venus) because Mercury is Sun's friend. The yoga is called Nipuna Yoga in some texts.

Yoga — Raja Yoga from AK+PiK Conjunction (Jaimini)

Source: class-15 Required combination: Atmakaraka and Pitru Karaka conjoin in the 1st or 5th house (Rashi or Navamsa). Effect: Great rise through blessings and favors from elders, father-figures, or authorities. Person is nurtured into power by people above them. Example: George W. Bush — Venus (AK) and Mercury (PiK) in Lagna → rose through his father's political influence. (class-15)

Yoga — Raja Yoga from AK+PK Conjunction (Parashara)

Source: class-15 Required combination: Atmakaraka and Putra Karaka conjoin, especially in the 1st or 5th house. Effect: Maharaja Yoga — rise through commanding blind devotion from followers. Person is a natural leader whom souls follow across lifetimes. Example: Vajpayee — Mercury (AK) and Saturn (PK) in Lagna → democratic rise through massive loyal following. (class-15)

v1 Batch 3 — Classes 21–30

Yogas — Batch 3 (classes 21–30)

Yoga — Parivrajak Yoga (Samrajya Yoga)

Source: class-22 Required combination: Moon in a Mars Navamsa (Mars-ruled Navamsa) AND Moon is either conjunct Saturn or aspected by Saturn in the Rashi chart. Effect: Makes the native a genuine renunciate (sanyasi). Without this yoga, even if someone takes sanyasa, it is only outward; they cannot genuinely abandon desires and material life. Strength factors: The strength increases if the sign involved is owned by Saturn (e.g., Moon-Saturn together in Aquarius or Capricorn). Still stronger if Moon is exactly in a Mars Navamsa and Saturn is closely conjunct. Cancellation: If only one condition is present (e.g., Saturn aspects but Moon is not in Mars Navamsa), the yoga is weakened. Example: Swami Jayendra Saraswati: Moon and Saturn conjunct in Aquarius (Saturn's own sign), Moon in Mars Navamsa — Parivrajak Yoga of the highest order.

Yoga — Mahapurusha Yogas (five types)

Source: class-22 Required combination: One of five planets (Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, Mars, Saturn) must be in a Kendra (1, 4, 7, 10) AND in its own sign, Moola Trikona, or exaltation sign. Effect: Produces a great, powerful person who achieves much. Does not guarantee goodness or honesty, only greatness. Each has its own name and nature:

  • Hamsa Yoga (Jupiter): diplomatic, polite, courteous.
  • Malavya Yoga (Venus): artistic, judgmental, unemotional; can say what they feel regardless of others' emotions.
  • Bhadra Yoga (Mercury): scholarly, communicative.
  • Ruchaka Yoga (Mars): aggressive, energetic, military prowess.
  • Shasha Yoga (Saturn): disciplined, hardworking, renunciate tendencies. Strength factors: If two Mahapurusha Yogas exist, the planet in Dharma Trikona (1, 5, 9) dominates over Artha Trikona (2, 6, 10) dominates over Kama Trikona (3, 7, 11) dominates over Moksha Trikona (4, 8, 12). Within each, exaltation > Moola Trikona > own sign. Cancellation: Not mentioned explicitly; but affliction or placement in a dusthana weakens. Example: Jayalalitha — Venus exalted in 10th (Artha Trikona) and Jupiter in Moola Trikona in 7th. Venus dominates = Malavya Yoga native; very direct/judgmental, not diplomatic. K.N. Rao — Venus in Lagna (Dharma Trikona) in Moola Trikona, Jupiter in 10th exalted: Malavya dominates.

Yoga — Gajakesari Yoga

Source: class-24 Required combination: Jupiter and Moon are together (conjunct) or in mutual Kendra (7th from each other). Effect: Fame, recognition, reputation. Long-lasting fame if the yoga occurs in Lagna or 7th house or aspects Lagna. Strength factors: Stronger when it involves Lagna or the 7th house. In Sri Rama's chart it occurred in Cancer Lagna (Jupiter and Moon together in Lagna), making the fame eternal. Cancellation: If confined to dusthanas without Lagna connection, some fame but not lasting. Example: MS Subbulakshmi — Moon and Jupiter in 7th house, aspecting Lagna; very strong Gajakesari → enduring fame even after death.

Yoga — Tapaswi Yoga

Source: class-24 Required combination: Saturn, Venus, and Ketu must be either in mutual trines (1-5-9 axis) OR all together in one house. Effect: Makes the native deeply devoted and dedicated to a cause. Such a person can devote their entire life to a single goal; makes a great Tapaswi or Tapaswini. Strength factors: Stronger when the signs involved are satvic or when these planets are strong by sign placement. Cancellation: Not specifically mentioned. Example: MS Subbulakshmi — Saturn, Venus, and Ketu in mutual trines in Rashi chart; confirmed by her lifelong, wholehearted devotion to music as service to God.

Yoga — Jaya Yoga

Source: class-29 Required combination: Sixth lord is debilitated (neecha) AND tenth lord is exalted (ucha) or strong (own sign, Moola Trikona). Effect: Gives victory over enemies, success in competition. During the relevant Dasha/Antardasha, enemies are depressed and the native triumphs. Strength factors: Strongest when the sixth lord is truly debilitated and the tenth lord is truly exalted. Partial Jaya Yoga when tenth lord is in own sign but not exalted. Cancellation: If the tenth lord is also afflicted (e.g., with Rahu), the yoga is weakened. Example (natal): George W. Bush Dasamsa — Jupiter (6th lord) debilitated in 7th, Mars (10th lord) exalted → Jaya Yoga. He ran Vimshottari Sama Dasha Jupiter from April 2000–2009; enemies depressed, he won two terms. Example (Dasha Pravesha): PVR's Sagittarius Narayana Dasha Pravesha chart — Jupiter (6th lord) debilitated, Mars (10th lord) exalted but with Rahu; Sagittarius Antardasha gave state-first in intermediate exams and IIT selection.

Yoga — Viparita Raja Yoga

Source: class-29 Required combination: Lords of dusthanas (6, 8, 12) placed in other dusthanas (6th lord in 8th or 12th, 8th lord in 6th or 12th, etc.). Effect: Sudden reversal of fortune — often brings rise after a fall or unexpected gain. Strength factors: In Shoda Shamsha (D-16), links between 6th and 8th houses indicate accidents rather than Viparita Raja Yoga; context of the divisional chart matters. Caution: PVR warns against jumping to this yoga interpretation in D-16; in that chart, the same combinations indicate accidents, not rises.

Yoga — Budha-Aditya Yoga

Source: class-24 Required combination: Sun and Mercury conjunct. Effect: Intelligence, communication skills. Strength factors: Requires the two planets to be within a reasonable orb. A very wide conjunction (e.g., Sun at 0° and Mercury at 25°) makes it very weak. Example: MS Subbulakshmi — Sun and Mercury together but very wide orb; PVR rated this as a very weak Budha-Aditya.

Yoga — Saturn/Rahu as Raja Yoga in Arudha context

Source: class-22 Required combination: Saturn or Rahu placed in the 12th from Arudha Lagna. Effect: Despite being "rejectors," Saturn and Rahu in the 12th from AL create a Raja Yoga — the native is perceived as very powerful, influential, authoritative. For Jupiter or Mercury, the 2nd from AL is the Raja Yoga position. Notes: Saturn in AL itself makes one appear like a renunciate; Saturn in 12th from AL makes people think one is rejecting sanyasa (giving up the attitude of giving up) — somewhat paradoxical. Example: Swami Jayendra Saraswati — Saturn in 12th from Arudha Lagna; hence some people question whether he's truly a sanyasi, yet this also gives him a powerful, authoritative image.

Yoga — Dharma-Karma-Adhipati Yoga

Source: class-23, class-26 Required combination: Lords of 9th and 10th houses are conjunct, in mutual aspect (Rashi or Graha drishti), or in Parivartana. Effect: Harmonizes Dharma (9th) and Karma (10th); the native attains success through righteous work. Great career with moral foundation. Example: PVR's own chart — Mercury (10th lord, Virgo lagna) and Venus (9th lord) in Parivartana in both Rashi and Dasamsa; if he wears emerald and diamond together, it is highly auspicious.

Yoga — Vimasa Yoga

Source: class-22 Required combination: A planet is in the 12th house but in its own sign. Effect: Despite the 12th house being a loss house, the planet in its own sign there creates a Vimasa Yoga, giving good results for that planet's matters from the 12th house. Example: Jayalalitha's Dasamsa — Jupiter (12th house but in own sign Sagittarius); Jupiter Dasha overall positive because Jupiter is relatively well-placed through Vimasa Yoga.

v1 Batch 4 — Classes 31–40

Yogas — Batch 4 (Classes 31–40)

Tapas Yoga (Class 36)

  • Definition: Venus and Ketu closely conjoined (tight conjunction), with Saturn placed in a trine (1st, 5th, or 9th) to that conjunction.
  • Result: Intense spiritual austerity; the person is drawn toward tapas (penance, deep meditation). In Pope John Paul II's chart, this yoga was confirmed.
  • Note: Requires close conjunction of Venus-Ketu, not just same sign. Saturn's trine presence activates it.

Katari Yoga (Class 36)

  • Shubha Katari Yoga: Benefic planets on both sides of a house/Lagna. Protects and strengthens that house.
  • Papa Katari Yoga: Malefic planets on both sides of a house/Lagna. Harms that house.
  • Class 40 clarifies: Shubha Kartari in Navamsa can be even stronger than having planets in Lagna itself (per Sage Satyacharya in Satya Jatakam).

Guru Chanda Yoga (Class 36)

  • Definition: Jupiter and Rahu conjunct in a house.
  • Result: Big problems related to that house's significations. The house in question suffers damage or crisis.
  • Example: If in the 7th → major problems in partnerships/marriage.

Viparita Raja Yoga (Class 38)

  • Definition: Exchange (Parivarthana) between lords of dusthana houses (6th, 8th, 12th) or between dusthana lords and trikona lords.
  • Result: Reversal of fortune — what appears to be a negative situation turns into a positive outcome.
  • Class 38 Example (Pakistan Chart): Jupiter as 9th lord in 12th, 12th lord in 9th — a classic Viparita Raja Yoga. During Jupiter's Vimshottari Dasha, Pakistan had great successes despite apparent adversity.
  • Caution: Works for the chart as a whole (Lagna-based Vimshottari or mundane chart); the reversal happens through dusthana-related means (foreign lands, losses, enemies → become blessings).

Lakshmi Yoga (Class 36)

  • Definition: Lagna lord and 9th lord placed together (conjunction or mutual aspect).
  • Result: Great wealth, prosperity, auspiciousness. The native is blessed with Lakshmi's grace.
  • Confirmed in Pope John Paul II chart analysis.

Vimal Yoga (Class 36)

  • Definition: 12th lord placed alone in the 12th house.
  • Result: Virtuous conduct in hidden/solitary activities; spiritual refinement through isolation; expenses are controlled and purposeful.

Graha Malaka Yoga (Class 34)

  • Definition: Multiple planets placed in consecutive signs (one after another in adjacent signs).
  • Result: The planets form a chain or garland (mala = garland) and influence each other through Rashi connectivity. Can indicate continuous travel, restlessness, or linking of multiple life domains.
  • Class 34: Discussed in context of student chart analysis (Leo Dasha).

Chandra-Shani Yoga (Class 34)

  • Definition: Moon and Saturn conjunct or in mutual aspect.
  • Result: Emotional discipline; tendency toward melancholy or hard work; can give ascetic qualities. Moon's comfort-seeking is disciplined by Saturn's austere nature.

Saptati Sama Dasha Yoga (Class 36)

  • Definition: Either the Lagna lord is in the 7th house, or the 7th lord is in the Lagna.
  • Dasha applicability: When this condition is present, Saptati Sama Dasha (70-year dasha cycle) is applicable and reliable.
  • Class 36 Example: Pope John Paul II — Saptati Sama Dasha gave Mars-Venus period when he became pope in 1978. Confirmed this dasha was applicable given his chart's Lagna-7th relationship.

Guru Chanda Yoga — Pope's Chart (Class 36)

  • Class 36: Pope John Paul II had Guru Chanda Yoga (Jupiter + Rahu) in a key house, which PVR analyzed in context of the Papacy and challenges he faced.

Tapas Yoga — Detailed (Class 36)

  • Dasha Dikpala connections in Dasamsa show the deity whose energy governs career events. Ishana (northeast) = spiritual authority. Pope John Paul II's Dasamsa was analyzed showing how Dasha Dikpalas (Ishana, Ananta, Indra, Agni, Yama, Nirriti, Varuna, Vayu, Kubera, Brahma) corresponded to career turning points.

Shubha Kartari in Navamsa (Class 40)

  • Sage Satyacharya (Satya Jatakam) emphasizes Shubha Kartari on Navamsa Lagna as very important.
  • When both flanking planets are different (one benefic, one not), the Kartari effect is reduced.
  • Jupiter + Mars flanking with Parivarthana between them → Mars acts like Jupiter → qualifies as Shubha Kartari.

Dual Guru Yoga (Class 40)

  • Definition: Jupiter and Venus both influencing Navamsa Lagna (or in Lagna).
  • Result: Two guru energies present → person has great learning potential from two traditions; spiritual depth combined with worldly wisdom.
  • Ketu acting as mediator between Jupiter and Venus softens the natural enmity between them.

Jaimini Navamsa Planetary Yogas (Class 40)

  • Sun + Rahu (Swamsa): Death by snake venom / poison / drug addiction.
  • Sun + Rahu + benefics: Doctor treating poison cases.
  • Sun + Rahu + Mars: Arsonist (burns others' property).
  • Sun + Rahu + Mars + Venus: Firefighter / ambulance worker.
  • Sun + Rahu + Mars + Jupiter: Sets fire to own property (insurance fraud).
  • These are Navamsa-level combinations per Jaimini Upadesa Sutras; PVR cautions against literal interpretation — use carefully, check examples first.

Parivarthana Yoga — Activation Timing (Class 40)

  • Rule: Parivarthana (exchange of signs between two planets) does not automatically activate at birth. It requires a trigger.
  • Trigger: During the Dasha-Antardasha period where one or both exchanged planets run together. Example: Jupiter-Mars exchange activates fully during Jupiter Dasha → Mars Antardasha.
  • Until trigger: Each planet behaves normally in its occupied sign for most purposes.

v1 Batch 5 — Classes 41–50

Yogas — Batch 5 (Classes 41–50)

class-41

Dvisaptati Sama Dasa Yoga (as a conditional dasha trigger)

  • Condition: 7th lord in Lagna OR Lagna lord in 7th house.
  • When either condition is met, Dvisaptati Sama Dasa (72-year dasha) becomes active.
  • This is not a yoga in the classical sense but a special conditional situation that activates an alternative dasha system.
  • Source: v41

class-42

Sarala Yoga

  • Formation: 8th lord in the 8th house.
  • Effect: The negative/dark aspects of the 8th house (obstacles, enemies, hidden things) are neutralized; the positive aspects of the 8th house (occult knowledge, research, inheritance, longevity) dominate.
  • The person becomes skilled in hidden knowledge, has strong protection from enemies, may outlive rivals.
  • Named "Sarala" = simple/straightforward — the 8th house becomes navigable rather than obstructed.
  • Source: v42

Hasha Yoga

  • Formation: 6th lord in the 6th house.
  • Effect: The person is largely free from worry, enemies, and diseases. Cheerful temperament. Enemies are contained. Debts are managed.
  • Named "Hasha" = laughter — the person laughs at obstacles rather than being troubled by them.
  • The 6th house's capacity to give troubles is turned inward on itself, neutralizing its negative effects.
  • Source: v42

Parivartana Yoga — Classification System

  • Good parivartana: Both lords exchange within the same trikona (1-5-9 axis) — mutually reinforcing blessings.
  • Neutral-to-good parivartana: One lord from a quadrant exchanges with a trikona lord — forms a type of Raja Yoga support.
  • Bad parivartana: Exchange involving a dusthana lord (6, 8, or 12) — the dusthana's difficulties are spread to the other house.
  • Worst: Exchange between two dusthana lords (e.g., 8th lord in 6th, 6th lord in 8th).
  • The quality of the exchange depends entirely on whether the houses involved are friendly/complementary or hostile/opposed.
  • Two planets in enemy relationship will NOT freely exchange results even if co-tenants — e.g., Sun and Rahu together will not exchange freely (Sun refuses).

Maha Purusha Yogas — Trigger by Dasha

  • Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas (Hamsa, Malavya, Ruchaka, Shasha, Bhadra) do not continuously give results from birth.
  • They are triggered by the dasha of the planet forming the yoga.
  • Ruchaka Yoga (Mars): Mars in own or exalted sign in a Kendra — gives leadership, forcefulness, natural commander energy when Mars dasha runs.
  • Hamsa Yoga (Jupiter): Jupiter in own or exalted sign in a Kendra — wisdom, teaching ability, righteous authority.
  • Before the triggering dasha, the yoga lies dormant or gives mild results.
  • Source: v43

Moon + Saturn Combination — Vairagyam

  • When Moon and Saturn are conjunct or in mutual aspect, the combination produces vairagyam (detachment, dispassion).
  • This can manifest as: deep introspection, depression, withdrawal from material life, or genuine spiritual renunciation.
  • Both vairagyam (positive spiritual detachment) and depression (negative emotional withdrawal) are possible manifestations depending on other chart factors.
  • This combination is considered one of the most powerful for producing sannyasa (renunciation) or deep yogic practice.
  • Source: v43

Dhimanta Yoga

  • Formation: 5th lord and 6th lord together, aspecting the Lagna.
  • Effect: Intelligence (5th) applied to overcome obstacles (6th) = a person who uses their intellect to surmount difficulties.
  • Makes the person sharp, problem-solving oriented, able to handle adversity through cleverness.
  • Also seen as 5th + 6th lords in Arudha Lagna = tangible manifestation of intelligent obstacle-overcoming.
  • Source: v43

class-45

Viparita Raja Yoga (Revisited — Conditions)

  • Formation: Dusthana lords (6th, 8th, or 12th) conjoined or exchanging in a dusthana house.
  • Effect: Very good results — the negative tendencies of dusthana lords, when confined to dusthana houses, implode and purify, leaving positive results.
  • Condition for Quadrant placement: If two dusthana lords are in a quadrant without the Lagna lord, it is just "Viparita" (opposition/hardship) but NOT a full Raja Yoga.
  • If two dusthana lords are in a quadrant WITH the Lagna lord = Viparita Raja Yoga (in a quadrant).
  • The full classical Viparita Raja Yoga requires the dusthana lords to be in dusthana houses.
  • Source: v45 (confirmed in v50 chart discussion)

class-46

Strong Malefic Planet + Bad Yoga = Amplified Bad Results

  • Yogas involving a strong malefic planet (high Shadbala, strong in chart) give very bad results — the strength amplifies the malefic agenda, not neutralizes it.
  • Shadbala measures strength only, not quality. A strong malefic is MORE dangerous than a weak one.
  • This principle must be applied when assessing whether a yoga will give good or bad results.
  • Source: v46

class-47

Kalaamrita Yoga

  • Formation: All planets fall between Rahu and Ketu, with Rahu leading in the natural zodiac direction (Rahu → planets → Ketu, moving against the zodiac).
  • Effect: Considered auspicious — the natural order of Rahu leading is harmonious. Person has spiritual depth, driven by Rahu's expansive desire toward moksha.
  • Most people confuse this with Kalasarpa (which is malefic) — the two are opposite formations.
  • Source: v47

Kalasarpa Yoga

  • Formation: All planets fall between Rahu and Ketu with Ketu leading (Ketu → planets → Rahu in the natural zodiac direction).
  • Effect: Classical malefic yoga. Obstacles, serpentine difficulties, life events blocked by unseen forces.
  • Ketu leading means the natural order is reversed — everything contracts rather than expands.
  • Source: v47

Yogakaraka + Balaga (Strong) Planet

  • When a Yogakaraka planet (owns both a trikona and a kendra) is also a Balaga (strong/well-placed) planet, it gives BOTH its results (trikona blessings + kendra efforts) simultaneously and powerfully.
  • The doubled result makes such a planet one of the most powerful contributors in the entire chart.
  • Source: v47

class-48

Graha Malaka Yoga in Annual Chart

  • Formation: Multiple planets occupying consecutive signs in the zodiac, forming a "garland" (malika).
  • In the Tithi Pravesh (annual) chart, a Graha Malaka involving the Lagna lord + Hora lord + key house lords = a year of linked, domino-like events where each event triggers the next.
  • The events unfold sequentially as each sign in the chain activates through the year's dasha periods.
  • Source: v48

Paapa Kartari Yoga

  • Formation: Malefic planets flanking a house (one on either side) — house is hemmed between malefics.
  • Effect: The house is weakened even if it contains good planets or yogas. Any Raja Yoga in that house gives results with difficulty, delay, or pain.
  • The good results DO come (the yoga is not cancelled) but the process is harder and the person must work through obstacles.
  • Source: v48

Raja Yoga in 6th House

  • A Raja Yoga formed in the 6th house is not cancelled — it still gives its results.
  • However, the results come through overcoming difficulties, service, competition, or conflict.
  • The person achieves success specifically by defeating enemies, overcoming health challenges, or winning in competitive situations.
  • This is actually an excellent placement for certain vocations (military, law, medicine, competitive sports).
  • Source: v48

class-49

Yoga Between Quadrant Lord and Trine Lord (Raja Yoga — Revisited)

  • The classical definition: trikona lords carry blessings/luck from past lives; kendra lords carry present effort.
  • When these two meet (conjunction, mutual aspect, exchange), the blessings and efforts fuse into one agenda = Raja Yoga.
  • The planets must interact strongly (close conjunction, aspect) for the full Raja Yoga to manifest.
  • If two planets are in the same house but at opposite ends (e.g., 1° vs. 29°), the Raja Yoga is weakened by distance — they interact less.
  • A close conjunction (within a few degrees) of a trikona lord + kendra lord gives the full Raja Yoga power.
  • Benefics and malefics: It does NOT matter whether the planets are natural benefics or malefics — only whether they are friends or enemies.
  • Source: v49

Akriti Yogas (Shape-Based Yogas — Generic)

  • Yogas based on the distribution of planets in houses (e.g., all planets in 4 houses, or specific geometric patterns) are generic yogas.
  • They apply to so many charts that they lose discriminative power — treat them with a "pinch of salt."
  • More important yogas: Specific house lord combinations (5th lord + 9th lord in 10th house = powerful specific Raja Yoga unique to that chart).
  • Specific yogas are rare; generic yogas are commonplace. Rarer = more significant.
  • Source: v49

Yoga Involving the Ruler of the Day (Daily Chart)

  • In the daily chart, if the ruler of the day (Hora lord) is involved in a Raja Yoga, that day is lucky and significant.
  • The close conjunction of Mercury and Saturn (9th + 10th lord + 5th lord in the same degree) in a daily chart = an excellent Raja Yoga indicating a major career development (job offer, recognition) on that day.
  • Source: v49

class-50

Material Raja Yoga (A9 + A10 Together)

  • When A9 (Bhagya Pada = tangible luck) and A10 (Karma Pada = tangible accomplishment) are in the same sign or associated, it forms a material Raja Yoga.
  • Analogous to the classical 9th lord + 10th lord Raja Yoga, but manifests as a perceived/tangible fusion of fortune and accomplishment in the material world.
  • The lord of that sign (containing A9 + A10) is the key planet — in its dasha, the person is seen as both fortunate and accomplished simultaneously.
  • Source: v50

Viparita Raja Yoga — 8th + 12th Lords Conjunct

  • 8th lord and 12th lord conjoining can form a Viparita Raja Yoga IF in a dusthana house.
  • If they conjoin in a quadrant without the Lagna lord, it is only "Viparita" (opposition/hardship) — no Raja Yoga.
  • The result of a Viparita that is NOT a Raja Yoga: disruption and change, but not necessarily good outcomes.

v1 Batch 6 — Classes 51–60

Yogas — Batch 6 (classes 51–60)

Yoga — Raja Yoga (Kona + Kendra lord conjunction)

Source: class-51, class-60
A Raja Yoga forms when a trikona lord (1st, 5th, 9th) and a kendra lord (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th) conjoin or exchange. This is the most basic raja yoga by Parashara. In George W. Bush's chart, the 9th lord and Lagna lord are together, conferring a Raja Yoga that gives Gajeswar Yoga (fame lasting a long time). In the Tithi Pravesha chart for 2005, two trikona lords (10th and 6th) conjoining in the 11th house give a blessing of sorts.

Yoga — Gajakesari Yoga

Source: class-60
Gajakesari Yoga forms when Jupiter and Moon are in a kendra from each other. In Bush's natal Rashi chart, this yoga activates during the Jupiter-Moon antardasha and produces events for which the native will be remembered for a long time. The bhoga (experiential result) of the yoga is placed in the 5th/9th axis — fortune and blessings.

Yoga — Jaya Yoga (Debilitated 6th lord + Exalted 10th lord)

Source: class-60
Jaya Yoga forms in Dashamsa when the 6th lord is debilitated and the 10th lord is exalted. Results: happiness, success, victory over enemies, long life. In Bush's Dashamsa, Jupiter (6th lord, debilitated) and Mars (10th lord, exalted) produce this Jaya Yoga, making enemies sad and elevating career achievements during the Jupiter dasha period.

Yoga — Vikrita Raja Yoga (Dusthana lord in another Dusthana)

Source: class-60
When the lord of a dusthana (6th, 8th, or 12th) is placed in another dusthana, a Vikrita Raja Yoga forms. In Bush's Dashamsa from Jupiter as reference Lagna, Mars (8th lord) in the 12th house gives Vikrita Raja Yoga — its bhoga falls in Lagna, a trine-quadrant combination, conferring power and success.

Yoga — Guru Chanda Yoga (Rahu + Jupiter conjunction)

Source: class-59
When Rahu conjuncts Jupiter, the result is Guru Chanda Yoga. The intellect (Jupiter) is obstructed — it still exists but cannot function optimally. Rahu eclipses Jupiter's pure yellow light. The intellect is like a dark glass covering it. This is considered a difficult yoga for mental clarity and dharmic judgment.

Yoga — Lakshmi Yoga (9th lord + Lagna lord involvement)

Source: class-60
When the 9th lord (fortune) and Lagna lord (self) are involved in a strong combination, it produces Lakshmi Yoga. In Bush's Rashi analysis during Jupiter-Moon antardasha, both Gajakesari and Lakshmi Yoga are active simultaneously, indicating fortune as a blessing from past life merits manifesting without effort in the current life.

Yoga — Functional Raja Yoga in Tithi Pravesha (Kendra + Kona lords)

Source: class-60
In Bush's 2005 Tithi Pravesha chart, Saturn (4th lord) and Venus (7th lord) conjoin in the 9th house — both are kendra lords together in a kona. Per the teacher, this shows effort (quadrant lords in trikona) but not necessarily fruits. Fruits require at least one trikona lord to be involved along with the kendra lord.

Yoga — Parivartana Yoga (mutual exchange)

Source: class-60
A parivartana (mutual exchange) between Moon and Venus in Bush's 2005 annual chart means Venus acts as Moon (9th lord, i.e., badhakesh) in the 9th house, and Moon acts as Venus (12th lord) in the 12th house. The result: the badhakesh is not really in 12th (loss of badha) but functionally in the badhaksthana itself — so inexplicable problems continue to surface rather than being dissolved.

v1 Batch 7 — Classes 61–70

Yogas — Batch 7 (v61–v70)

class-61

Raja Yogas in Cheney's Dasamsa

  • Mars-Saturn conjunction in 10th house of Dasamsa: natural authority, executive power, and secretive career (Scorpio Dasamsa Lagna).
  • Mars-Venus conjunction: Kendradhipati–Konadhipati Raja Yoga (Mars = Lagna lord / Konadhipati; Venus = 7th lord / Kendra + 12th lord in some configurations).
  • Jupiter-Ketu conjunction: Moksha trikona lords together, showing protection and spiritual underpinning of power.
  • Sun-Jupiter conjunction: Atmakaraka + Putrakaraka or trikona+kendra raja yoga.
  • Viparita Raja Yoga: Rahu (6th lord) in 8th house of Tithi Pravesha chart → unexpected rise through crisis of others.

class-62

Tribhagi Vimshottari Dasha Yogas

  • No new named yogas in v62; see Dashas file for Tribhagi explanation.

class-64

Simhasana Yoga

  • Simhasana Yoga: Saturn in Cancer Lagna. Saturn in the Lagna of a Cancer-rising chart = "throne yoga," giving administrative authority and political power.

Harsha / Sarala / Vimala Yogas (introduced, detailed in v68)

  • Mentioned in the context of beneficial dusthana lords.

class-65

Viparita Raja Yogas — Conditions

  • 6th lord in 6th = Harsha Yoga (cheerful, happy, defeats enemies).
  • 8th lord in 8th = Sarala Yoga (straightforward, survives crises).
  • 12th lord in 12th = Vimala Yoga (pure, moksha-oriented).
  • Mnemonic: H–S–V in alphabetical order for 6th–8th–12th.

class-68

Harsha / Sarala / Vimala Yogas (detailed)

  • Chart: Mar 2, 1946, 4 AM, Cambay Gujarat. Sagittarius Navamsa Lagna.
  • Venus = 6th lord in 6th house (Navamsa) = Harsha Yoga (beneficial: defeats enemies, healthy).
  • Saturn with Venus in Navamsa 7th (from Rashi 7th house perspective) → Saturn Antardasha showed marriage because Saturn aspects the UL/7th.
  • General rule: Viparita Raja Yogas (Harsha, Sarala, Vimala) apply in the Rashi chart and give good results. However, in D6 (Sashtamsa) and D30 (Trimshamsa), there is NO Viparita Raja Yoga — 6th/8th/12th lords in bad houses always show suffering in those charts.

class-69

Chandra Mangala Yoga

  • Chart (26 May 1923, Nellore): Moon-Mars Parivarthana = Chandra Mangala Yoga (Moon and Mars exchange signs, giving combined effects of both).
  • Also Gaja Kesari Yoga (Moon-Jupiter conjunction), Kendradhipati-Konadhipati Raja Yoga (Moon = 4th lord, Jupiter = 9th lord conjoined).

Hamsa Yoga (Pancha Mahapurusha)

  • Jupiter as 4th lord in 4th house = Hamsa Yoga (in D6 annual chart): gives comfort, happiness, and recovery from disease. Jupiter in Navamsa 4th in own sign with Mars = Guru-Mangala Yoga.

class-70

Multi-Planet Yogas in Leo (Arun's chart)

  • Chart (Arun, 28 Mar 1980, 6:43 AM, Boston, Cancer Dasamsa Lagna): Leo in Rashi contains Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Moon, Saturn; Ketu+Mercury in another house nearby.
  • Gaja Kesari Yoga: Jupiter+Moon in Leo.
  • Chandra Mangala Yoga: Moon+Mars in Leo.
  • Guru Mangala Yoga: Jupiter+Mars.
  • Kendradhipati-Konadhipati Raja Yoga: Lagna lord (Aries) and 4th lord Moon exchange → Raja Yoga.
  • When Leo Narayana Dasha comes (2014–2019), ALL these yogas trigger simultaneously — massive changes in life.
  • Fifth and Tenth lord conjunction in Vimshamsa (Jupiter 5th lord + Sun 10th lord in 7th house) = yoga showing spiritual/religious work for society and public recognition.
  • Dhana Yoga: Moon + Venus in Lagna = abundance of wealth (in Dasamsa annual Dasha Pravesha).
  • Papakartari Yoga: malefics hemming Sun on both sides (identified in Dwadashamsa mother's chart analysis).
  • Dhurandhara Yoga (also called Buddhaditya in some forms): planets in 2nd AND 12th from Moon simultaneously = very auspicious.

v1 Batch 8 — Classes 71–80

Yogas — Batch 8 (Classes 71–80)

Class 71 — Marriage and Divorce Yogas in Saptamsha

  • Moon-Jupiter = Marriage indicator in Navamsa Dasha: When Moon and Jupiter period runs in Navamsa Narayana Dasha, marriage is strongly indicated.
  • Mars-Mars = Divorce indicator in Navamsa Dasha: When Mars-Mars (Mahadasha-Antardasha or two Mars placements triggered) runs in Navamsa Narayana Dasha, fighting, separation, or divorce is indicated.
  • Kuja Samma (Mars-Rahu combination): Mars and Rahu together create explosive, tension-filled combination. If Mars is sixth lord and Rahu is eighth lord, there is actually a Raja Yoga between them — they can coexist without destroying each other if propitiations are done (pray to Subrahmanya).

Class 72 — D4 Yogas and Tithi Pravesh Yogas

  • Parivartana yoga between fourth and fifth lords in Tithi Pravesh D4: Jupiter (fifth lord of Purva Punya) in fourth house and Mars (fourth lord) in fifth house = Raja Yoga, Vishnu's blessings, strong indicator of home acquisition in that year.
  • A4, A9, A10 together in Lagna of Tithi Pravesh D4: Very auspicious for acquiring a nice house with tangible luck; person seen by society as very fortunate.
  • Mars in A3, A1 (Arudha Lagna) of Tithi Pravesh D4: Shows tangible initiative for property and status-related property transaction.
  • Raja Yoga in Dasha Pravesh D4 (between signs containing exalted/strong planets): The sign that has the most auspicious yoga in Dasha Pravesh D4 is the most likely Antardasha for property events.
  • Nripati Raja Yoga (twelfth lord+third lord+Ketu in third house): Shown in Manoj's Dasha Pravesh D4 in Gemini sign; adds to auspiciousness of Gemini as the buying period.

Class 73 — Yoga Review

  • Kenichandra Yoga in Arudha Lagna: Moon-Saturn together in Arudha Lagna = vairagya (disinterest in worldly life), discouragement, tendency to withdraw.
  • Viparita Raja Yoga (mentioned in passing): Lords of dusthana houses in mutual kendras or trikonas from each other can give power and rise.
  • Sun-Moon parivartana in Navamsa Tithi Pravesh (sixth/seventh lord exchange): Normally a bad yoga (sixth and seventh lord exchange), but between friendly planets Sun and Moon it can indicate a switch from bachelorhood to marriage. However, remains a dur yoga — careful analysis needed.
  • Gaja Kesari Yoga in Navamsa Tithi Pravesh: Moon-Jupiter in kendra relationship in Navamsa annual chart = overall auspiciousness for beginning of events.
  • Kama Trikona lord in Kama Trikona in Navamsa: Gives marriage desires and fulfillment (third, seventh, eleventh house lords placed in another Kama Trikona house = favorable for marriage).
  • Parivartana between Cancer lord and Capricorn lord in Navamsa: When Cancer (second marriage house) and Capricorn (eighth from first marriage) lords exchange, it is both indicator of divorce and potential remarriage.

Class 75 — Financial Yogas in D2 (Hora)

  • A8-A11 link for financial speculation gains: When A8 (sudden windfalls/unexpected) and A11 (gains) are connected in D2, speculation profits are indicated.
  • A9, A5, A10 yoga in D2 Lagna: Tangible luck (A9) + past karma manifestation (A5) + karma of financial life (A10) = exceptional financial fortune.
  • A8 lord (Venus, sudden financial change) + A9 (Sun, tangible luck) together in D2: Very auspicious for sudden financial fortune in Venus or Sun dasha.

Class 76 — Career Yogas

  • Guru-Mangala Yoga (Jupiter-Mars combination): Jupiter and Mars together create a powerful yoga for career success, leadership, and professional achievement. Jupiter brings wisdom/strategy, Mars brings action/execution.
  • Dharma-Karma Adipati Yoga: The lords of ninth and tenth houses combined = professional dharma yoga. When running in dasha, gives career rise and public recognition.
  • Saturn as Yogakaraka: When Saturn owns a Kendra (1st/4th/7th/10th) and a Trikona (1st/5th/9th) simultaneously, he becomes Yogakaraka and his dasha brings simultaneous career and financial advancement.

Class 77 — Jaimini Introduction Yogas

  • Pravarajya Yoga (renunciation yoga): Multiple planets in single sign, or specific Karakamsha placements with Ketu, can give Pravarajya Yoga — renunciation, becoming a sannyasi or monk.
  • Saturn in trine from Karakamsha: Concentration yoga — person excels in disciplines requiring sustained focus: archery, Hatha Yoga, history.
  • Jupiter+Ketu in trine from Karakamsha: Parampara yoga — deep knowledge of traditional systems, guru-shishya transmission.

Class 78 — Navamsa Mapping Yogas

  • Dharma Trikona mapping to Kendras in Navamsa: In Navamsa, the Dharma Trikona of Rashi (1st, 5th, 9th) maps to the Kendra axis. Dharma house = first, Artha = tenth, Kama = seventh, Moksha = fourth. This explains why Navamsa reveals dharmic duties.

Class 79 — Jaimini Sutras Yogas from Karakamsha

  • Jupiter in 9th from Karakamsha: Authority yoga — person becomes a landlord, commands authority, respected as an elder or master.
  • Benefics in 12th from Karakamsha: Auspicious afterlife yoga — good post-death state; smooth transition at death.
  • Ketu in 12th from Karakamsha: Liberation yoga — Moksha indicated; Ganesha devotion leads to liberation.
  • Saturn in 12th from Karakamsha in malefic sign: Black magic/tantra involvement yoga.
  • Sun+Ketu in 12th from Karakamsha: Shiva devotion yoga — highest form of Shaiva practice, Jnana marga.

Class 80 — Disease Yogas from Karakamsha / Swamsa

  • Rahu+Mars in 4th/5th from Swamsa: TB yoga (definite if Moon also aspects; probable without Moon).
  • Rahu+Gulika in 4th/5th from Swamsa: Poison/drug yoga (type of use/sale determined by aspecting planet: Mercury/Venus = pharmacy, Jupiter = personal use, Mars = dealing).
  • Mars alone in 5th from Swamsa + Saturn alone in 5th from Swamsa: Combination gives a fierce precision-oriented individual; Mars for action, Saturn for focus.

v1 Batch 9 — Classes 81–90

Yogas — Batch 9 (classes 81–90)

class-81 | Argala Yoga (Planetary Support Formation)

Definition: A cluster of planets positioned in the 2nd, 4th, 5th, or 11th house from any target house or planet, forming a supportive intervention on that house's results. Not formally called a "yoga" by that name but treated as a configuration that makes house results drdha (firm/fixed).

Subha Argala: Argala formed by benefic planets — promotes the house's significations.

Papa Argala: Argala formed by malefic planets — promotes the house's malefic dimension (e.g., enemies for A6, disease for 8th house).

Strength grades (net Argala after Badha cancellation):

  • 1 planet: Kanishtha — minimal effect (~1/4)
  • 2 planets: Madhyama — medium effect (~1/2)
  • 3+ planets: Uttama — full effect

Viparita Argala (term used in class): Argala formed by Rahu or Ketu in positions that are the opposite of normal planets. Rahu/Ketu in the 12th from a house = Argala (not Badha); in the 2nd = Badha (not Argala).

class-81 | Bhagya Udaya (Fortune Rising) via Argala

Definition: When the 9th house has a full (3+ planet) unobstructed Argala, Parashara says "Bhagya Udaya" — the person's fortune will rise.

Teaching: Used in GWB's Navamsa: four planets (Mars, Jupiter, Moon, Saturn) with unobstructed Argala on the 9th house = extremely fortunate nativity.

class-87 | Bhadra Maha Purusha Yoga with Retrograde Mercury

Context: Bhadra Yoga is one of the Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas — Mercury in own sign or exaltation in a Kendra.

Complication with Retrograde:

  • If Mercury forming Bhadra Yoga is also retrograde, the results are modified.
  • Retrograde exaltation ≈ debilitation effect in some respects.
  • But the yoga still gives intelligence and communication ability; the retrograde suggests the native expresses it in an unconventional or internalized way.

class-87 | Papakartari Yoga (Scissors Affliction)

Definition: A planet or house is hemmed in between malefic planets on both the 2nd and 12th sides (or equivalently, in adjacent houses).

Effect: The significations of the trapped planet or house are suppressed or twisted.

Example from class (D30): Mercury in Badhaka sthana with Papakartari (malefics on both sides) in D30 = severe speech and cognitive problems.

class-88 | Harsha Yoga (6th Lord in 6th House)

Definition: 6th lord placed in the 6th house itself.

Optimal version: Natural benefic (Jupiter, Venus, Mercury) as 6th lord in the 6th house.

Effect: The native is always happy, cheerful, overcomes enemies with ease. Natural benefic giving Harsha yoga is stronger than natural malefic giving it.

Teaching context: In a mental disability chart, after a Parivartana resolves, Jupiter ends up acting as 6th lord in 6th house — Harsha yoga — suggesting eventual relief/cheerfulness.

class-83 | Arudha Parivartana (9th-12th) for Marriage

Teaching from class-86: When the Arudha of the 9th house (A9) and the Arudha of the 12th house (A12) exchange signs (Parivartana), it indicates that marriage increases the person's dharmic practice — the marriage "becomes dharma."

class-89 | Dhimanta Yoga (Intelligence Yoga)

Definition: A yoga for high intelligence formed by connections between specific lords.

Perfect Dhimanta: All four of the following lords are connected (conjunct, mutual aspect, or exchange):

  • 1st lord (self/intelligence)
  • 3rd lord (skills, learning)
  • 5th lord (intellect, creativity)
  • 6th lord (analysis, problem-solving)

Partial Dhimanta: Any two of these four lords are connected → partial intelligence yoga. The more lords connected, the stronger the yoga.

Note: The 6th lord's inclusion is significant — analytical and competitive intelligence (not just creative) is part of high intelligence according to this formulation.

class-84 | Tithi Pravesh Raja Yoga (Annual Trine Lords)

Teaching: In the Tithi Pravesh (annual) chart for any year, when the trine lords (1st, 5th, 9th) of the annual Lagna are all placed together — especially in a kendra — the entire year is blessed.

Example given: Tula (Libra) Lagna with Venus (Lagna lord), Saturn (Yogakaraka, 4th/5th lord), and Mercury (9th lord) all in Cancer in the 10th house = outstanding Raja Yoga for accomplishment in that year.

class-81 | Parivartana (Exchange) — Argala Implications

Teaching: When two planets exchange houses (Parivartana), the planet in Antardasha will first deliver its own results, then — when the Parivartana is triggered (often by the planet's own Antardasha arriving) — it delivers the results of the planet it exchanged with.

Argala implication: After Parivartana triggers, the planet's Argala should be evaluated as if the planet is in the exchanged house (its "virtual" position).

Example: Mars in 4th exchanging with Sun in 1st; when Parivartana triggers, Mars acts as 1st lord in 4th → evaluate Mars's Argala from his virtual position (1st house), not his physical position (4th house).

class-88 | Viparita Raja Yoga (12th lord in 8th)

Reference: In a case analysis, the 12th lord in the 8th house was noted as Viparita Raja Yoga — a dusthana lord in another dusthana. This does not damage the chart; instead it creates an unexpected upliftment from apparent obstacles.

Teaching: Don't immediately interpret 12th lord in 8th as bad. In terms of Viparita Raja, it can actually be useful — especially for spiritual matters or for turning hidden problems into opportunities.

class-89 | Neechabhanga Raja Yoga — Effect Quality

Distinction: Neechabhanga of different house lords:

  • Trine lord debilitated + Neechabhanga: Excellent — fortune/blessings that were blocked now flow.
  • Quadrant lord debilitated + Neechabhanga: Moderately good — effort planets gain strength.
  • Dusthana lord debilitated + Neechabhanga: Less desirable — the useful weakness of the dusthana lord is now broken, potentially activating its malefic significations.

Special case: If the debilitated planet is the 8th lord with Neechabhanga, the situation can actually be dangerous — a strong 8th lord is a stronger Maraka.

v1 Batch 10 — Classes 91–100

Yogas — Batch 10 (classes 91–100)

Yoga — Amala Yoga

Source: class-91 Required combination: Only benefics occupy the 10th house from Lagna AND the 10th house from Moon; no malefics in either 10th Effect: Unblemished reputation; person achieves lasting fame and good name through virtuous conduct; career is marked by ethical behaviour Strength: Stronger when both 10th from Lagna and 10th from Moon are simultaneously clear of malefics; benefic strength increases the quality of reputation Cancellation: Any malefic in either 10th house weakens or cancels; even a single malefic in 10th from Lagna weakens it Example: Noted in class-91 while analyzing an example chart; the yoga was identified as present and the native had an unblemished public record Notes: "Amala" = spotless, pure; the yoga ensures the public image (Arudha domain) reflects genuine virtue

Yoga — Guru-Chanda Yoga (Jupiter-Rahu conjunction)

Source: class-91, class-92 Required combination: Jupiter and Rahu in conjunction (same sign) or in strong mutual influence Effect: Rahu attacks Jupiter's natural significations — wherever Jupiter rules or sits, Rahu poisons those results. Specifically: loss of dharma, guru-related troubles, distorted wisdom, false teachings absorbed or propagated Nuances (class-92):

  • The yoga does NOT simply mean "bad teacher/guru" — it is more specifically that the person may receive guidance that seems correct but contains a fundamental distortion (Rahu = illusion on Jupiterian matters)
  • In mundane charts: periods when this conjunction activates can coincide with religious scandals, false prophets gaining prominence
  • The native may be sincere but misled, or may be the source of distorted teachings Strength: Worse when Rahu is stronger than Jupiter; worse in Sagittarius or Pisces (Jupiter's signs, where Rahu hijacks the energy) Cancellation: Strong Jupiter in own sign or exaltation with benefic aspects can reduce the distortion; discrimination (viveka) helps the native see through the illusion Notes: PVR teaches this in context of distinguishing when a teacher/student relationship is genuine vs. compromised

Yoga — Viparita Raja Yoga

Source: class-96 Required combination: Lords of 6th, 8th, and/or 12th houses placed in each other's houses (e.g., 6th lord in 8th, 8th lord in 12th, or 12th lord in 6th, etc.) Effect: The negative becomes positive — obstacles, enemies, debts, and hidden adversaries work in the native's favour; rise through adversity; often unexpected success coming through apparent misfortune Strength key insight (class-96): Works regardless of whether the planets involved are strong or debilitated. Even a debilitated planet in the "wrong" house creates this yoga if it satisfies the positional requirement. The yoga's mechanism is about the negation of negation (dushtana lords in dushtanas = double negative = positive) — not about planetary strength. Cancellation: If the dushtana lords also aspect or associate with beneficial houses strongly (breaking their "dushtana isolation"), the yoga may be diluted Example: PVR confirms this during Arista Bhanga discussion — even when chart has many afflictions, if the afflicting planets are themselves in dushtanas, the harm reverses Notes: One of the most powerful yogas for overcoming adversity; confirmed to operate independently of dignity

Yoga — Papakartari Yoga (Malefic Hemming)

Source: class-95, class-96 Required combination: A planet (or house) is hemmed between malefics — malefic in the sign immediately before it AND malefic in the sign immediately after it Effect on Lagna (class-95): Severe Bala Arista — especially when malefics are in 12th and 2nd from Lagna; native is crushed by opposing malefic forces from both sides Effect on Moon (class-96): Danger to mother and child; if Moon is Papakartari in Lagna itself + malefic in 7th or 8th → both mother and baby at risk Effect on general planets: That planet's significations are suppressed, weakened, blocked from expressing Strength: More severe when the hemming malefics are both natural malefics (Saturn + Mars, or Saturn + Rahu, etc.) without any benefic relief; weakest when the planet being hemmed has strong dignity Cancellation: Subha Kartari (benefic hemming) = opposite effect — benefics on both sides = significant protection. In Arista Bhanga context: subha katari on a malefic neutralizes that malefic's harm Notes: Must distinguish Papakartari of the planet vs. Papakartari of the house; both matter but in different ways

Yoga — Dharma Karma Adhipati Yoga

Source: class-96 Required combination: 9th lord (Dharma lord) and 10th lord (Karma lord) in conjunction OR mutual aspect OR in exchange (Parivartana) Effect: Supreme Raja Yoga — person achieves status and authority through righteous action; the karma (work/profession) is aligned with dharma (duty/righteousness); success comes through ethical means; often results in leadership, kingship, or great professional achievement In baby charts (class-96): When this yoga is present in a natal chart with Bala Arista, the yoga is so powerful it negates or heavily mitigates the Arista — the divine arrangement ensures the child lives to fulfil its dharmic mission Strength: Stronger when both lords are well-placed, but even an exchange from difficult positions creates the yoga Cancellation: If both lords are debilitated AND in dushtanas without any relief, the yoga is weak; Viparita version (dhana lords in dushtanas) is different Notes: Often co-identified with the concept that the person has divine protection for their life's purpose

Yoga — Bala Arista Combinations (composite — BPHS Ch.9)

Source: class-95, class-96, class-97 Required combination: Multiple affliction patterns in an infant's chart; key clusters:

  1. Moon in 6/8/12 + malefic aspects + no benefic on Moon
  2. Waning Moon + malefics in kendras or 8th
  3. Lagna + 7th both occupied by malefics + Moon with malefic
  4. Moon Papakartari in 1/7/8/12
  5. All planets in Apoklimas (3/6/9/12) + weak Lagna
  6. 3 malefics aspecting Moon without benefic relief
  7. Sandhya birth (within 72 minutes of sunrise/sunset) with malefics on Lagna Effect: Early death (or severe suffering in milder cases) for the infant; also some combinations harm mother (verses 17–30) or father (verses 31–45) Cancellation: See Arista Bhanga (BPHS Ch.10) and techniques file Notes: Not a yoga in the positive sense — a negative combination cluster; listed here for completeness of Ch.9 study

📗 v2 Series — 99 classes

v2 Batch 1 — Classes 01–10

Yogas — Batch 1 (Classes 01–10)

Y-001 · Guru-Mangala Yoga

Source: class-01, class-10 Combination: Jupiter and Mars together in the same house (especially in a kendra or trikona); or Jupiter and Mars in mutual aspect Effect: Combines Jupiterian wisdom and Martian energy/courage — gives great initiative guided by wisdom, success in ventures requiring both intellect and boldness. In wealth contexts (2nd house): exceptional wealth yoga. PVR sees it in class-10 annual chart: "There is a Guru Mangal yoga in the 9th house. This doesn't look bad at all." Strength: Stronger when Jupiter is not debilitated and Mars is not combust; strongest in kendra/trikona positions

Y-002 · Dattaputra Yoga (Adopted Child)

Source: class-05 Combination (Type 1): Debilitated Saturn in the 5th house Combination (Type 2): 6 planets in the 5th house + 5th lord in the 12th house Effect: The native raises an adopted child (Datta = gift/adopted; putra = child). Type 1 shows a subtler form; Type 2 is the more definitive yoga from BPHS. Cancellation: Strong Jupiter and Venus along with a strong 5th lord can counteract the Type 1 form.

Y-003 · Sarpa Yoga

Source: class-06 Combination: (Debate between Parasara and Sanjayji's interpretation)

  • Parasara's version: All kendras (1,4,7,10) occupied only by malefics, with no benefic in any kendra
  • Sanjayji's version: Rahu in lagna or a kendra, with malefics occupying other kendras Effect: Curse-like yoga; causes repeated setbacks, obstacles, and difficulties. Named after the serpent — things keep going wrong despite effort. In annual charts, when multiple malefic Arudhas are in quadrants, this is called a "Sarpa Yoga" type effect: "Three malefic planets in quadrants, three Dussthana Arudhas in quadrants — this is a Sapa yoga, a very terrible Sapa yoga" (class-10). Cancellation: Strong benefic in a kendra or strong lagna lord can reduce its intensity.

Y-004 · Viparita Raja Yoga

Source: class-10 Combination: Lords of dusthanas (6th, 8th, 12th) in dusthanas or exchanging with each other

  • Sarala: 8th lord in 6th or 12th
  • Vimala: 12th lord in 6th or 8th
  • Aksha: 6th lord in 8th or 12th Effect: Apparent misfortune turns into good fortune; setbacks that become assets; unexpected gains through seemingly adverse circumstances. "Venus is the third and eighth lord in the twelfth house — he gives Viparita Raja Yoga" (class-10). Strength: The planet giving this yoga must be a functional malefic (dusthana lord) for the lagna. Natural benefics do not give Viparita Raja Yoga effectively.

Y-005 · Pravraja Yoga (Renunciate Yoga)

Source: class-07 Combination: Multiple versions, but key indicators:

  • 4 or more planets in one house (especially a dusthana or trikona)
  • Saturn, Ketu, 8th lord all strongly influencing the lagna
  • Moon and lagna lord both very afflicted with no benefic support Effect: The native renounces worldly life and takes to sannyasa (monasticism). PVR identifies it in P. Kalyan's chart (class-07): "Pravraja Yoga is there. So this is somebody — a renunciate." Notes: Presence of Pravraja Yoga alone doesn't guarantee renunciation if strong Raja Yogas are also present. Both must be considered together.

Y-006 · Dhimanta Yoga (Intelligence Yoga)

Source: class-10 Combination: 5th lord and 6th lord together in the 9th house (or: Sun and Moon as 5th and 6th lords combined in a trikona) Effect: Outstanding intelligence and analytical ability; mental sharpness in career. "Moon and Sun are giving Dhimanta Yoga" (class-10 annual chart analysis). Note: This is an annual chart application — the yoga in the Tithi Pravesh activates the natal promise of intelligence during that year.

Y-007 · Gaja Kesari Yoga

Source: class-04 (implied, referenced in context of Jupiter-Moon) Combination: Jupiter and Moon in mutual kendra (1,4,7,10 from each other) Effect: Fame, wisdom, prosperity, recognition — especially public acclaim. Named after "Gaja" (elephant) and "Kesari" (lion) — two noble animals. Cancellation: If both are debilitated, combust, or afflicted by multiple malefics, the yoga weakens significantly.

Y-008 · Hamsa Yoga (Pancha Mahapurusha for Jupiter)

Source: class-04, class-05 Combination: Jupiter in his own sign (Sagittarius or Pisces) or exaltation (Cancer), placed in a kendra (1,4,7,10) Effect: Noble, learned, spiritual, generous, respected personality; success in dharmic/educational/spiritual pursuits. Strength: Strongest when no malefics afflict Jupiter.

Y-009 · Malavya Yoga (Pancha Mahapurusha for Venus)

Source: class-01 (implied in Venus in 2nd context) Combination: Venus in his own sign (Taurus or Libra) or exaltation (Pisces), in a kendra Effect: Wealth, luxury, artistic talent, attractive appearance, romantic success, vehicles and comforts.

Y-010 · Ruchaka Yoga (Pancha Mahapurusha for Mars)

Source: class-02 (implied in Mars context) Combination: Mars in his own sign (Aries or Scorpio) or exaltation (Capricorn), in a kendra Effect: Courage, physical strength, military/police success, land ownership, leadership in conflict.

Y-011 · Papakartari Yoga (Scissors of Malefics)

Source: class-05 (implied) Combination: Natural malefics (Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu) flanking a house or planet — one on each side (in the 12th and 2nd from the reference point) Effect: The house/planet is "cut" or "scissored" — its significations are harmed, curtailed, or cause suffering.

Y-012 · Shubhakartari Yoga (Scissors of Benefics)

Source: class-05 (implied counterpart) Combination: Natural benefics (Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, waxing Moon) on both sides of a house or planet Effect: The house/planet is protected and enhanced — its significations flourish.

Y-013 · Kendradhipati Dosha (Kendra Lordship Flaw)

Source: class-10 Combination: A natural benefic (Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, waxing Moon) owning a kendra house (1,4,7,10) Effect: The natural benefic loses its benefic quality and becomes a functional malefic for that lagna. This does NOT apply to natural malefics — they become neutral (not harmful) when they own a kendra. Exception: The lagna lord is exempt — even if a natural benefic owns the 1st house, it remains benefic as lagna lord. Application (class-10): "Moon is the 7th lord, so he's either neutral or malefic. For that, you have to see the inherent nature. And this is Shukla Paksha. Being the benefic who owns the quadrant, he becomes a malefic. So Moon is a functional malefic."

Y-014 · Brahmana Spati Yoga (Jupiter's Strength Yoga)

Source: class-01 Combination: Jupiter in the 11th house or strong aspect to the 2nd/11th Effect: Wealth through righteous means, wisdom applied to earning; protection of wealth.

Y-015 · Amavasya Yoga (New Moon at Birth)

Source: class-05 (Mandi discussion) Combination: Sun and Moon in the same rasi AND same navamsa (or very close degrees) Effect: Unusual family circumstances; multiple parents (stepparents, adoptive parents); difficult childhood related to parents' relationship. Some texts associate this with spiritual potential as well.

Y-016 · Raj Yoga (General — 5th/9th lord + kendra lord)

Source: class-07 (P. Kalyan chart), class-10 Combination: Lord of a trikona (1,5,9) + lord of a kendra (1,4,7,10) in conjunction, mutual aspect, or parivartana Effect: Royal yoga — success, authority, recognition, rise to power in one's chosen field. Application (class-10): "The seventh and fourth lord Mercury with the ninth lord Ketu gives a raj yoga. Both of them are in friendly sign."

Y-017 · Sapa Yoga (Curse Yoga)

Source: class-10 Combination: Most/all malefic planets and malefic Arudhas concentrated in kendras; Rahu near lagna; Mandi and Gulika in lagna Effect: Indicates a strong curse from past lives manifesting as repeated severe suffering. PVR flags the 2009–10 annual chart of the CA businessman as having this: "Three natural malefics in quadrants, three Dussthana Arudhas in quadrants — this is a Sapa yoga, a very terrible Sapa yoga." Mitigation: Mrityunjaya mantra, Rudrabhishekam, Chandi Homam, Durga Saptasati (for Rahu in lagna).

v2 Batch 2 — Classes 11–20

Yogas – Batch 2 (Classes v11–v20)

Tapas Yoga (Austerity Yoga)

  • class:: v11, v12
  • Definition: Saturn + Venus + Ketu together in Lagna, 5th, 9th, 8th, or 12th house
  • Most powerful form: all three planets within 20 arc minutes of each other
  • Effect: extreme austerity, spiritual discipline, renunciation tendencies
  • The combination creates a powerful "tapas" (heat of austerity) energy
  • When a Vayu planet (Saturn or Rahu) is also present → orientation toward Raja Yoga path
  • Real-life context (v12): example of young man in Secunderabad with this yoga

Pravrajya Yoga / Parivrajaka Yoga (Renunciant Yoga)

  • class:: v11
  • Definition: 10th lord in a quadrant (Kendra) with 4 or more other planets
  • Effect: person abandons worldly life for spiritual/religious pursuit; becomes sanyasi
  • The concentration of planets in a Kendra with the karma lord overwhelms worldly desires
  • Related: Parivrajaka (wandering monk) = specific form of sanyasa yoga

Nirvikalpa Samadhi Indicator

  • class:: v12
  • Pattern in Dasha Pravesh Chakra (solar return / annual chart):
    • Sun + Moon eclipsed by Rahu + Ketu on the Lagna axis
    • Sun and Moon very close (near new Moon = amavasya) with Rahu/Ketu near horizon
  • This is a transit pattern within the annual chart, not a natal yoga
  • Effect: indicates a year in which the person may experience the highest state of meditation (nirvikalpa samadhi = awareness without any thought-modifications)
  • Example: Swami Sivananda's chart showed this pattern

Dharma Karma Sapthaka (Dharma-Karma Axis Yoga)

  • class:: v12, v20
  • Definition: 9th lord and 10th lord in a strong mutual relationship (exchange, mutual aspect, or conjunction)
  • Variants:
    1. 9th lord in 10th + 10th lord in 9th (pure exchange)
    2. 9th and 10th lords in mutual quadrants (Sapthaka = 7th from each other)
    3. 10th lord exalted + with Jupiter + 9th lord in 10th (most powerful form)
  • Effect: person performs great dharmic karmas; famous for righteous actions; highly respected
  • The strongest career + dharma yoga in Jyotish

Viparita Raja Yoga (Reverse Raja Yoga)

  • class:: v16, v17
  • Definition: Lord of a dusthana (6, 8, or 12) placed in another dusthana
  • Effect: longevity is protected; person survives or even benefits from difficult circumstances
  • Examples:
    • 6th lord in 8th or 12th
    • 8th lord in 6th or 12th
    • 12th lord in 6th or 8th
  • The destructive energy of dusthana lords destroys each other, protecting the native
  • Harsha Yoga (12th lord in 8th), Sarala Yoga (8th lord in 6th), Vimala Yoga (12th lord in 6th) = named sub-types
  • Indicates long life when present

Raja Yoga – Rahu Special Cases

  • class:: v17
  • Rahu in Simha (Leo) Lagna = Raja Yoga
    • Source: Rahu's 108 names — "Janma Simha Rajyada" (one who gives kingship to those born in Leo)
  • Rahu in Kanya (Virgo) Lagna = Raja Yoga
    • Source: "Janma Kanya Rajyada"
  • These are NOT standard Raja Yogas between Kendra and Trikona lords
  • These are special classical dictums about Rahu's exalted results in specific Lagnas

Raja Yoga – General (10th House Context)

  • class:: v20
  • 10th lord with functional benefics in a benefic house → patronized by kings, business success
  • 10th lord exalted + 9th lord in 10th + Jupiter with 10th lord → Dharma Karma Sapthaka
  • 10th and 11th lords in exchange (Parivartana) → very comfortable and successful life
  • 10th and 11th lords in mutual Kendras → same effect as exchange (supporting career and gains)

Neechabhanga Raja Yoga (Cancellation of Debility Yoga)

  • class:: v20
  • Debilitated planet: if the lord of its exaltation sign is in a Kendra from Lagna or Moon → debility cancelled, planet becomes powerful
  • Alternatively: if the planet that would be exalted in the sign of debilitation is in a Kendra
  • Effect: the planet behaves as if it were exalted; can give excellent results
  • Example (Narayan Iyer's chart): debilitated planet with Neechabhanga + exalted Venus in Pisces aspected by Jupiter → wealthy and knowledgeable

Karma Vaikalya Yoga (Handicapped Karma Yoga)

  • class:: v20
  • Definition: 10th lord weak (without strength — "balona")
  • Effect: karma vaikalyam — the person's work is handicapped; obstacles, undeveloped career, work doesn't flourish
  • Modifier: if Rahu is in Kendra/Trikona → Rahu compensates, gives ritualistic karma

Janadvesha Yoga (Misanthrope Yoga)

  • class:: v20
  • Definition: 10th lord in 8th house with Rahu
  • Effect: person hates/dislikes other people; great foolishness; evil deeds; social isolation

Shishnodara Parayana Yoga (Extreme Selfishness)

  • class:: v20
  • Definition: 10th lord in 7th with Mars or Saturn + 7th lord with functional malefics
  • Effect: person extremely self-centered, concerned only with personal desires and survival (shishna = genital, udara = stomach = the two base drives)
  • Person is manipulative and selfish; does not act for the good of others

Karma Chhetta Yoga (Non-finisher Yoga)

  • class:: v20
  • Definition: Sun + Mars + Rahu + Saturn all in the 11th house
  • Effect: person starts many things but does not complete them; no gains from work; no fruits of effort
  • Rare combination (requires 4 planets together in 11th)

Ratna Yoga (Gems Yoga)

  • class:: v20
  • Definition: 10th lord in 11th + 11th lord in Lagna + Venus in 10th house
  • Effect: person possesses many gems and jewels; adorns themselves with precious stones
  • Logic: Venus in 10th aspects 4th (house of possessions); 10th lord in 11th = karma completes and fructifies; 11th lord in Lagna = gains used to enrich oneself

Sukha Jivana Yoga (Comfortable Life Yoga)

  • class:: v20
  • Definition: 10th and 11th lords in exchange (Parivartana) OR in mutual Kendras (quadrants from each other) OR at minimum one placed in the other's house
  • Effect: person has smooth, happy, comfortable life; karma produces gains; gains feed back into karma
  • Represents the ideal cycle of productive work and received benefits

Vastra-Abharana Yoga (Clothes-Ornaments Yoga)

  • class:: v20
  • Definition: 10th lord strong + Jupiter in Pisces (Meena)
  • Effect: person enjoys fine clothes, beautiful ornaments, and comfort
  • Deeper logic: Venus is exalted in Pisces; Pisces = natural 12th house (expenses); Jupiter in Pisces = benefic influence on both Venus's exaltation and the house of expenditure
  • Not necessarily showing attachment — person may simply spend freely on luxury items

Jnana-Artha Yoga (Knowledge and Wealth Yoga)

  • class:: v20
  • Definition: Jupiter + Venus in Pisces + Lagna lord strong + Moon in Taurus (exalted)
  • Effect: person is very learned AND wealthy; recognized for both wisdom and material success
  • Example referenced: Narayan Iyer's chart approximates this (exalted Venus in Pisces aspected by Jupiter, exalted Moon, strong Lagna lord)

Spiritual Yoga – Tapas with Vayu Planet

  • class:: v12
  • Tapas Yoga (Saturn + Venus + Ketu) combined with a Vayu planet strong → Raja Yoga (Ashtanga/Patanjali path) orientation
  • Vayu planets: Saturn, Rahu (air element rulers)
  • This combination drives the person toward systematic, eight-limbed spiritual practice

Four Yoga Paths – Planetary Signatures

  • class:: v12
  • Jnana Yoga (path of knowledge/fire): strong Sun and Mars → analytical, discriminative inquiry
  • Bhakti Yoga (path of devotion/water): strong Moon and Venus → emotional, devotional worship
  • Karma Yoga (path of action/earth): strong Mercury → systematic, service-oriented action
  • Raja Yoga (path of meditation/air): strong Saturn and/or Rahu → systematic, disciplined practice
  • Dominant element in chart indicates natural yoga path inclination

Rahu + Ketu in 8th of D20

  • class:: v11
  • Psychic abilities yoga: Rahu or Ketu (shadow planets) in 8th house of Vimsamsa (D20)
  • Effect: occult perception, paranormal gifts, ability to perceive hidden/astral realities
  • D20 = chart for spiritual practices and progress

v2 Batch 3 — Classes 21–30

Yogas — Batch 3 (v21–v30)

Yoga — Graha Malika Yoga

  • Source: class-23
  • Required combination: All planets occupying consecutive houses (no gap), forming a garland/chain pattern
  • Effect: Chain of resource-sharing; each house pours into the next; career/life follows the chain from the starting sign through the ending sign. Very powerful for focus and single-minded achievement.
  • Strength: Power determined by (a) which signs begin/end the chain, (b) strengths of planets in the chain, (c) natural benefics vs. malefics in chain
  • Cancellation: Not cancelled; modified by sign qualities and planetary strengths
  • Example: Rajesh's son (class-23) — Oct 3, 1983, Leo Lagna; planets from 9th to 12th house; chain: 9th-10th-11th-12th; fortune/career/gains/liberation linked

Yoga — Gaja Kesari Yoga

  • Source: class-22/23
  • Required combination: Moon and Jupiter in mutual kendras (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th from each other)
  • Effect: Wisdom, intelligence, prosperity, fame; native is like an elephant-lion (unstoppable)
  • Strength: Reduced or nullified when Rahu conjuncts Moon or Jupiter; Rahu afflicts the yoga
  • Cancellation: Rahu's presence near Moon or Jupiter in the yoga weakens it significantly
  • Example: Abhijit (class-22) had afflicted Gaja Kesari — Rahu spoiling Moon's participation

Yoga — Guru Chandala Yoga

  • Source: class-22, class-24
  • Required combination: Jupiter conjunct Rahu (in same sign or close degrees)
  • Effect: Jupiter's benefic qualities are afflicted; wisdom becomes tainted; higher learning disrupted; can give learning disabilities, mental obstacles, unconventional wisdom
  • Strength: Severe when Jupiter is also functionally malefic or when in D24 (education chart)
  • Cancellation: Mitigated if Jupiter is very strong in the sign and Rahu is weak
  • Example: Child with asthma/learning disability (class-24) — Libra Lagna; Jupiter+Rahu in Gemini in D24; major educational obstacle

Yoga — Brahma Yoga (Saturn + Jupiter in Lagna)

  • Source: class-22 (incidental mention)
  • Required combination: Saturn and Jupiter together in the Lagna
  • Effect: Wisdom combined with discipline; spiritual authority; may also indicate challenges (Saturn debilitated in Jupiter's sign or vice versa can complicate)
  • Strength: Depends on sign; both dignified = powerful; one debilitated = mixed
  • Cancellation: Heavy malefic aspects on both planets
  • Example: Sethu (class-26) — Sagittarius Lagna, Saturn+Jupiter in Capricorn (2nd house, not Lagna in this case); discussed in context of 2nd house Argala on 4th

Yoga — Brahmana Sapa Yoga (Brahmin Curse Yoga)

  • Source: class-24
  • Required combination: Jupiter afflicted by two malefics; Atmakaraka involved; specifically when AK is Rahu and afflicts Jupiter further
  • Effect: Past-life karma of disrespecting or harming a Brahmin/teacher; causes blocked learning, speech/communication issues, obstacles to education and spiritual growth
  • Strength: Severe when Atmakaraka is involved in the affliction
  • Cancellation: Propitiation of Jupiter; Guru Puja; service to teachers
  • Example: Asthma child (class-24) — Libra Lagna; AK Rahu + two malefics afflicting Jupiter; diagnosed as Brahmana Sapa

Yoga — Kalamrita Yoga

  • Source: class-23
  • Required combination: All planets on one side of the Rahu-Ketu axis
  • Effect: Life experiences a sweeping transformation at the Rahu or Ketu Dasha; massive karmic shifts; one part of life is "eclipsed" until the axis Dasha activates
  • Strength: More pronounced when Rahu/Ketu are strong and well-placed
  • Cancellation: Planets close to Rahu/Ketu axis reduce the yoga's purity
  • Example: Rajesh's son (class-23) — all planets on one side; Rahu-Ketu in 2007 initiated interest in spirituality

Yoga — Dhimanta Yoga

  • Source: class-24
  • Required combination: 5th lord in the 6th house
  • Effect: Intelligence applied to overcoming obstacles; person is clever at dealing with competition, enemies, health issues; strategic thinker
  • Strength: Benefic 5th lord in 6th = constructive intelligence; malefic 5th lord = cunning
  • Cancellation: 6th house heavily afflicted can undermine the intelligence
  • Example: Referenced in class-24 analysis context

Yoga — Gaja Kesari (afflicted variant)

  • Source: class-25
  • Required combination: Moon + Jupiter in kendras BUT Moon afflicted by Rahu
  • Effect: Yoga does not give full results; wisdom and prosperity are blocked or delayed; Rahu hijacks Moon's participation in the yoga
  • Strength: Zero to minimal when Moon-Rahu conjunction is tight
  • Cancellation: Mars (Yogakaraka for Cancer Lagna) can partially compensate
  • Example: Autism child (class-25) — Cancer Lagna; Moon at 0°49' Gemini + Rahu at 1°10' Gemini (21 arcmin apart = very tight); Gaja Kesari destroyed by Rahu

Yoga — Viparita Raja Yoga

  • Source: class-30 (rule discussion)
  • Required combination: 6th, 8th, or 12th lords placed in each other's houses (mutual exchange or sequential placement)
  • Effect: In Rasi and most divisional charts: apparently bad placement gives sudden rise/power; dushtana lords negate each other's negativity
  • Strength: Strongest when all three dusthana lords are in dusthana houses
  • Cancellation: Not applicable in D6 (Sashtamsa) — there it creates health problems instead
  • Example: General teaching principle; contrasted with D6 where it's harmful

Yoga — Dharma Karma Adhipati Yoga

  • Source: class-26
  • Required combination: 5th lord and 9th lord (Dharma trinal lords) together with 10th lord (Karma lord)
  • Effect: Highly auspicious career yoga; professional life aligned with Dharma; sudden positive career developments
  • Strength: All three dignified and together = exceptional; even in 8th house = sudden positive outcomes
  • Cancellation: Heavy malefic affliction on the combination
  • Example: Visakhapatnam native (class-26) annual chart — 5th, 9th, and Lagna lords in 8th house together with A5; sudden positive development predicted

Yoga — Hasta Yoga

  • Source: class-26, class-29
  • Required combination: Specific planetary combination in Hasta Nakshatra (Moon's nakshatra); also referenced as Mercury in Hasta giving skill and precision
  • Effect: Skill, dexterity, precision in work; good for technical careers
  • Strength: Mercury in Hasta = excellent for accountants, technicians, skilled professionals
  • Cancellation: Heavy affliction on Mercury
  • Example: CA exam native (class-29) — Mercury in Hasta yoga; favorable for CA exam

Yoga — Saturn-Jupiter in 2nd house (Argala on 4th)

  • Source: class-26 (Sethu's chart discussion)
  • Required combination: Saturn and Jupiter together in 2nd house; they have powerful 11th Argala on 4th (peace/direction)
  • Effect: Mixed peace — Jupiter as 4th lord supports peace; Saturn as 3rd lord (loss of peace from 4th) and enemy of Moon (4th significator) disturbs peace; Saturn stronger when in own sign (Capricorn)
  • Strength: Saturn dominates in Capricorn (own sign) vs. Jupiter debilitated there
  • Cancellation: N/A — ongoing tension between the two planets' agendas
  • Example: Sethu (Sagittarius Lagna, Saturn+Jupiter in Capricorn) — class-26

Yoga — Satkarma Nirata Yoga

  • Source: class-21, BPHS Ch. 21
  • Required combination: Lagna lord + 10th lord in Lagna + Moon strong
  • Effect: Person is devoted to virtuous deeds (satkarma); highly ethical in career
  • Strength: Depends on Moon's strength
  • Cancellation: Afflicted Moon weakens the yoga
  • Example: Theoretical BPHS teaching

v2 Batch 4 — Classes 31–40

Yogas — Batch 4 (classes 31–40)

Yoga 33.1 — Amala Yoga

  • Source: class-33
  • Definition: Natural benefics (Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, Moon) placed in the tenth house from Lagna and/or from Moon.
  • Effect: The person has a spotless, irreproachable reputation in society. Conduct in the world is exemplary. Some authorities restrict it to Lagna only; PVR says both Lagna and Moon count.
  • Reasoning: Tenth house is the house of one's actions and conduct in the world. Benefics there make the person "spotless" — the word amala literally means pure/blemishless. Distinguished from fifth-house fame (following/attachment) versus tenth-house reputation (based on deeds).
  • Contrast: Vimala Yoga (twelfth lord in twelfth) — purity in private expenditure/renunciation; Amala Yoga — purity of public conduct.

Yoga 33.2 — Vimala Yoga

  • Source: class-33 (mentioned in passing while discussing Amala Yoga)
  • Definition: Twelfth lord placed in the twelfth house.
  • Effect: The person's expenditure is pure or directed toward beneficial ends; personal conduct relating to loss/giving/surrender is good.
  • Reasoning: Dusthana lord in own dusthana is a form of Viparita Raja Yoga — the evil is neutralised or redirected.

Yoga 33.3 — Gnimanta Yoga (also Gnayimanta Yoga)

  • Source: class-33
  • Definition: Fifth lord placed in the sixth house.
  • Effect: Very sharp, analytical intelligence. The person is adept at analysing problems and applying intellect to solving obstacles.
  • Conditions: Applies when this is the defining feature; in Saptamsa context the exception applies (see misconceptions).
  • Reasoning: Fifth house is intelligence; sixth house is overcoming obstacles. The lord of intelligence being in the house of problems produces a sharp analyst who uses intelligence to defeat enemies/obstacles.
  • Exception (Saptamsa): In Saptamsa, fifth lord in sixth gives different results than the standard BPHS verse — children-related results differ.

Yoga 35.1 — Harsha Yoga

  • Source: class-35/36
  • Definition: Sixth lord placed in the sixth house itself.
  • Effect: The person is very cheerful, content, and generally happy.
  • Reasoning: The sixth lord, whose agenda is to give obstacles to the Lagna, is in its own house — the obstacles are self-contained and do not trouble the person heavily. The person has a good disposition. Confirmed explicitly in class-35/36: "he'll be cheerful, yes."
  • Note: The person may still have some wealth challenges (contentment from wealth is medium) but the overall mood is positive.

Yoga 35.2 — Upachaya Raja Yoga

  • Source: class-35 (and class-33, 34)
  • Definition: Lord of one Upachaya house (3, 6, 10, 11) placed in another Upachaya house from a reference house.
  • Effect: Accumulation and growth in the matter signified by the reference house; a "Raja Yoga" of accumulation for material things.
  • Reasoning: Upachaya houses are houses of growth and accumulation. When an Upachaya lord moves to another Upachaya from a given reference (e.g., from second house of wealth, third lord in sixth house = Upachaya lord in Upachaya), the result is compounding accumulation.
  • Examples:
    • From second house: third lord in sixth = wealth accumulation through initiative + obstacles.
    • From fifth house: third lord in sixth = some child-related difficulties but eventual abundance.
    • From tenth house: third lord in sixth = accumulation of karma/accomplishments.

Yoga 36.1 — Viparita Raja Yoga (VRY)

  • Source: class-36 (confirmed) — also class-32, 33, 34, 37
  • Definition: A dusthana lord (6, 8, or 12) placed in another dusthana house. Specifically:
    • 6L in 8H or 12H
    • 8L in 6H or 12H
    • 12L in 6H or 8H
  • Effect (general): The evil is contained; after some initial struggle or upheaval the person gets good results, often unexpectedly. Can give sudden rise.
  • Critical exception (health): VRY does NOT apply when evaluating health/disease. If 6L is in 8H or 8L is in 6H, the person will still have diseases — the Viparita principle does not protect the physical body. Quoted directly from class-36: "Viparita Raja Yoga doesn't apply in the matter of health."
  • Examples from batch:
    • 8L in 6H (class-36): Person wins over enemies (VRY for enemies), but has diseases (VRY does NOT neutralise health problems).
    • 3L in 9H (class-31): Viparita RY for the second house of speech — some problems initially, but eventually good speech/communication.
    • Eleventh lord in eighth (class-37): VRY gives eventual Dharmic virtue despite initial difficulty.

Yoga 36.2 — Sadaya Yoga

  • Source: class-33 (implied), class-36 (named)
  • Definition: Eighth lord placed in the eighth house itself.
  • Effect: From the tenth house of karma/reputation, this represents eighth lord in eighth — Sadaya Yoga — giving straightforwardness and honesty. The person has an honourable, transparent reputation.
  • Context: When fifth lord is in fifth house (fifth lord's own house), taking the tenth house as Lagna, the eighth lord falls in its own house (eighth), which is Sadaya Yoga. Result: the person is honourable in the eyes of society.

Yoga 37.1 — Partial Raja Yoga (Trine lord in Quadrant / Quadrant lord in Trine)

  • Source: throughout batch 4 (classes 31–40, confirmed repeatedly)
  • Definition: Any connection between a trine lord (1, 5, 9) and a quadrant lord (1, 4, 7, 10).
  • Effect: Partial or full Raja Yoga — good status, honour, karma, prosperity. The more lords involved and the stronger their placements, the stronger the yoga.
  • Examples from batch:
    • Fourth lord in ninth (class-32): Kendra lord in trine = all-round good results.
    • Fifth lord in tenth (class-34): Trine lord in quadrant = Raja Yoga, enjoys comforts (sukhabhogi), accumulates fame.
    • Sixth lord in tenth (class-36): Upachaya lord in tenth creates some Raja Yoga; from tenth house, ninth lord in Lagna.

Yoga 37.2 — Neechabhanga Raja Yoga

  • Source: class-34
  • Definition: A debilitated planet's debility is cancelled (bhanga) by specific conditions (e.g., the sign lord of the debilitation sign is in a kendra, or the planet that would exalt where the debilitated planet sits is in a kendra from Lagna or Moon).
  • Effect: The planet gains Raja Yoga status and can give very good results.
  • Key clarification: The planet having Neechabhanga gives the Raja Yoga effect, not necessarily the planet that caused the Neechabhanga. (Quoted: "not necessarily the planet who resulted in that Neechabhanga... Saturn can give.")
  • Example: PVR's own chart — Saturn as fifth lord in Aries (debilitated) with Neechabhanga; all major academic achievements (IIT, two BA gold medals in Sanskrit, coming first in state) happened in Saturn Dasha.

Yoga 38.1 — Amavasya Yoga (Mundane context)

  • Source: class-40
  • Definition (mundane): Sun and Moon very close together (new moon conjunction) in the Lunar New Year chart, falling in or afflicting a particular house.
  • Effect: Whichever house Sun and Moon conjoin in is troubled or afflicted during that year for that country. Spoils the significations of that house and the planets associated with it.
  • Critical note: Amavasya Yoga Shanti (remedial ritual) does NOT apply to Lunar New Year mundane charts. These charts are cast at the moment of Shukla Pratipada, so they always contain Amavasya Yoga by definition. No shanti is performed; the question is only which house it falls in.
  • Example (US 2009): Amavasya Yoga in tenth house — afflicts Lagna lord Mercury and Venus; problems in executive branch of government. Sun-Moon dasha (Aug 21–Oct 8) and Jupiter dasha (Dec 21 – Feb) identified as problematic periods.

Yoga 38.2 — Gaja Kesari Yoga (Mundane)

  • Source: class-40
  • Definition: Jupiter and Moon in mutual kendras (quadrants from each other).
  • Effect: Blessings, prosperity, good fortune.
  • Context in batch: Mentioned for India's Navamsa in the 2009 Lunar New Year chart — Jupiter (ninth lord) in fifth house as saviour/protector. "Gaja Kesari Yoga is there."

Yoga 38.3 — Kandaka Saptamsa / Purushottama Saptamsa

  • Source: class-40
  • Definition: Special categories of Saptamsa (D-7) partitions used in mundane assessment.
    • Purushottama Saptamsa = "thesis" — shows undesirable things for that planet's Dasha in a mundane chart.
    • Kandaka Saptamsa = "fall" — planets here are specially weakened or causing falls/crises.
  • Context: Used to assess the quality of Dashas in the Lunar New Year chart. Sun and Moon in Kandaka Saptamsa = problematic dasha period for the country.

Yoga 38.4 — Satabdi Dasha applicability condition

  • Source: class-40
  • Definition: Satabdi Dasha (a hundred-year dasha) applies when the Lagna lord is in the seventh house in the relevant chart.
  • Effect: Gives a broad sweep dasha for mundane charts with probability of one-twelfth.
  • Context: Applied to Iran's 2009 Lunar New Year chart — Mercury (Lagna lord) is in seventh house (debilitated), so Satabdi Dasha is used.

Yoga 38.5 — Isha-3 Dasha (Imsho Three)

  • Source: class-40
  • Definition: A Dasha system based on three planets in kendras. Applied to mundane Lunar New Year charts. PVR uses Moon-based Isha-3 when there are three planets in kendras from Moon (and similarly from Lagna).
  • Context: Used for analyzing the US 2009 Lunar New Year chart. "Imsho Three, right. Exactly."

v2 Batch 5 — Classes 41–50

Yogas — Batch 5 (v2 Classes 41–50)

Yoga — Amavasya Yoga

Source: v41 Required combination: Sun and Moon in conjunction (within the same house, typically within 12° for exact new moon). Effect: Creates an intensity in the house occupied — assertive, forceful, ego-driven energy for the house's matters. In mundane charts (10th house): military aggression, bold government action. In natal charts: single-pointed drive but poor compromise ability, difficulty balancing ego and emotions. Strength: Stronger when Sun and Moon are very close (within 1–2°); weakened when the conjunction is in a sign inimical to both. Cancellation: Strong benefic influence (Jupiter aspect) can soften the aggression but rarely cancels the yoga fully. Example: US Lunar New Year 2009–2010 chart — Sun-Moon conjunction in the 10th house correlated with aggressive military policy (v41).

Yoga — Viparita Raja Yoga (General)

Source: v47, v48 Required combination: A lord of a dusthana house (3rd, 6th, 8th, or 12th) placed in another dusthana house. Effect: After initial difficulties related to the dusthana, the native rises to success — enemies are destroyed, obstacles become stepping-stones. Three named variants: Harsha (6th lord in 6th/8th/12th), Sarala (8th lord in 6th/8th/12th), Vimala (12th lord in 6th/8th/12th). Strength: Strongest when the involved planet is also strong (exalted, own sign, or Vargottama) AND when no additional malefics afflict the combination. Cancellation: If functional benefic planets are also placed in those dusthanas and get harmed, the yoga is diluted. Example: 12th lord in 6th (Harsha Yoga), 12th lord in 8th (Sarala Yoga) — v47, v48.

Yoga — Vimarga Yoga

Source: v48 Required combination: 12th lord in the 12th house (in own sign or returns to the 12th). Effect: Many expenses, no physical happiness, excessive anger, and specifically the misuse or perversion of sensory pleasures. The 12th house energy (bed pleasures, moksha, foreign lands) turns destructive when its own lord is placed there without any benefic influence. Strength: More severe when the 12th lord is also a natural malefic (Saturn/Mars) and is in a difficult nakshatra. Cancellation: Strong lagna lord with Jupiter's aspect can redirect the 12th lord's energy toward spirituality rather than sensual excess. Example: 12th lord in 12th in BPHS Ch. 24 analysis — v48.

Yoga — Harsha Yoga

Source: v47 Required combination: 6th lord placed in the 6th, 8th, or 12th house. Effect: Health, wealth, and happiness increase over time; enemies are subdued; the native prospers despite initial hardships indicated by the 6th house. Strength: Best when the 6th lord is in its own sign (in 6th) — maximum Harsha. Cancellation: If the 6th lord also rules an angular or trinal house (dual lordship), the Viparita effect is weakened. Example: 12th lord in 6th (and by extension, when 6th lord is in another dusthana) — v47.

Yoga — Sarala Yoga

Source: v48 Required combination: 8th lord placed in the 6th, 8th, or 12th house. Effect: Long life, courage, victory over enemies, gains from unexpected sources. The native thrives through handling what others fear. Strength: Stronger when 8th lord is also in own sign (in 8th) — extreme courage and occult ability. Cancellation: Additional strong malefic influence on the same dusthana can make the 8th lord cause harm before giving the Yoga's benefits. Example: 12th lord in 8th ("always profitable") — v48.

Yoga — Vimala Yoga

Source: v47, v48 Required combination: 12th lord placed in the 6th, 8th, or 12th house. Effect: Purity of character, freedom from enemies, good reputation, and expenses spent on noble/spiritual causes rather than wasteful ones. Strength: Strongest when 12th lord is in own sign in 12th — maximum spiritual detachment, but see also Vimarga Yoga (when 12th lord in 12th turns negative without support). Cancellation: Malefic conjunctions or strong enemy sign placement reduces purity. Example: 12th lord in 6th (Harsha or Vimala variant) — v47.

Yoga — Raja Yoga (Dharma-Karma Adhipati)

Source: v43, v44 Required combination: Lord of a Kendra (1, 4, 7, 10) links with lord of a Trikona (1, 5, 9) — by conjunction, mutual aspect, or exchange. Effect: The native rises to kingship, high status, or authority. The combination of worldly power (Kendra) with spiritual merit (Trikona) elevates the native. Strength: Strongest when both lords are strong and in an angle or trine; further elevated by Vargottama or exaltation of either lord. Cancellation: If either lord is debilitated, combust, or in dusthana without cancellation, the Raja Yoga is weakened. Example: 10th lord in 9th (Rule 44.3) — the Dharma-Karma connection is itself a Raja Yoga — v44.

Yoga — Dur Yoga

Source: v47 Required combination: Lord of a Kendra (angular house: 1, 4, 7, 10) and lord of a dusthana (3rd, 6th, 11th by some definitions; more precisely 6th, 8th, 12th) in conjunction or mutual aspect. Effect: Mixed results — angular house power is tainted by dusthana malefic influence; success comes with friction, obstacles, or health/relationship complications. Strength: Worse when the dusthana lord is a natural malefic (Saturn, Mars, Rahu/Ketu). Cancellation: Jupiter's full aspect can reduce the Dur Yoga's negative impact. Example: Mercury (4th lord from Scorpio lagna) conjunct Saturn (3rd/4th lord) in D24 for Srini Nita — educational blockages — v47.

Yoga — Guru Chandra Yoga (Jupiter-Rahu Conjunction)

Source: v41 Required combination: Jupiter and Rahu in conjunction in the same house. Effect: A complex yoga — on the surface, expansive and knowledge-seeking, but Rahu's shadow distorts Jupiter's wisdom. Can give fame, expansion, and success that is unconventional or achieved through unorthodox means. In mundane charts, indicates diplomatic/international complexities. Strength: More prominent when Jupiter is in its own sign or exaltation and Rahu is in an upachaya house. Cancellation: Saturn's aspect can ground Rahu's excesses. Example: Mentioned in mundane analysis context — v41.

Yoga — Kantakashani (Transit Yoga)

Source: v42, v43 Required combination: Saturn transiting through the 4th or 10th house from natal Moon or natal lagna. Effect: Period of great pressure — loss of position, emotional difficulties, obstacles in home and career (kantaka = thorn). The native faces major life disruptions during this transit. Strength: More severe when Saturn is also afflicting natal Moon or lagna lord by aspect. Cancellation: Strong Shani in own sign (Capricorn/Aquarius) or in upachaya from lagna can reduce severity. Example: Discussed for Shashi's chart (Saturn 8th from Moon) — v42; woman returning to India analysis — v43.

Yoga — Graha Yuddha (Planetary War)

Source: v48 Required combination: Two planets (excluding Sun, Moon, Rahu, Ketu) within 1° of each other in longitude (in the same sign). Effect: The planet with the lower longitude (further behind) is considered to "lose" the war — its significations and house lordships are weakened or destroyed. The winning planet (higher longitude) gains additional strength. Strength: Within 1°: war declared; within 0°20': the weaker planet is effectively destroyed. Cancellation: If the losing planet is in its own sign or exaltation, it may not be as severely damaged. Example: Venus-Mars Graha Yuddha (11 arc-minutes apart) in the 8th house for Proddatur woman — Venus (with lower longitude) loses — destroying 7th house matters (marriage, relationships) — v48.

v2 Batch 6 — Classes 51–60

Yogas — Batch 6 (classes 51–60)

Yoga — Viparita Raja Yoga

  • Source: class-52, class-54
  • Required-combination: Lord of a dusthana (6th, 8th, or 12th house) placed in another dusthana house. E.g. 8th lord in 6th, or 6th lord in 12th.
  • Effect: Material success through what appear to be obstacles, losses, and reversals. The person rises as enemies/obstacles destroy each other. Career and wealth come in roundabout or unconventional ways. Often involves working outside normal social structures.
  • Strength: Stronger when the dusthana lords involved are also natural malefics. Most powerful when two or three such lords are mutually placed in dusthanas. The overall strength of the chart (lagna, 10th, 11th) determines whether the yoga fully fructifies.
  • Cancellation: If a benefic planet (natural or functional) is conjunct the dusthana lords, it can dilute the viparita yoga by "rescuing" them from the dusthana's destruction pattern.
  • Example: Seshan Subramanian's chart (class-52): 8th lord placed in 6th — classic Viparita Raja Yoga giving material rise through struggles; career came through adversarial/legal/government routes.

Yoga — Dvisaptamsa Dasha Yoga (trigger for this dasha)

  • Source: class-52
  • Required-combination: 7th lord placed in the Lagna (1st house). This specific placement activates the Dvisaptamsa Dasha system as a relevant timing tool alongside Vimshottari.
  • Effect: When this yoga is present, the Dvisaptamsa Dasha (calculated on 7th house principles) becomes operative and should be used alongside Vimshottari Dasha for timing events related to career, partnerships, and public life.
  • Strength: Applicable only when the combination is precise — 7th lord in lagna. Does not apply for 7th lord in other houses.
  • Cancellation: N/A — this is a trigger condition, not a beneficial yoga per se; it activates a dasha calculation method.
  • Example: Seshan's chart (class-52): 7th lord in lagna triggers Dvisaptamsa Dasha which, combined with Vimshottari, explained his career transitions precisely.

Yoga — Raja Yoga from 11th from Arudha Lagna

  • Source: class-53, class-55
  • Required-combination: Multiple planets (ideally including benefics, or an exalted planet) placed in the 11th house from the Arudha Lagna (AL). Parasara's statement: "all planets in 11th from arudha = native is like a king."
  • Effect: Material wealth, prosperity, and fulfilment of desires in the domain represented by the arudha. The native achieves king-like status in their worldly sphere. Exalted planet specifically in 11th → wealth + satkirti (good reputation), unobstructed gain.
  • Strength: Stronger when more planets occupy 11th from AL. An exalted planet alone in 11th is very strong. Argala from 11th (without obstruction from 12th) amplifies the effect.
  • Cancellation: If 12th from AL is simultaneously heavily loaded with malefics, expenses may neutralise the gains.
  • Example: Class-55 Jaffna native: exalted planet in 7th from AL gave wealth + satkirti from partnerships/public interactions.

Yoga — Sahasi Yoga (warrior/brave image)

  • Source: class-55
  • Required-combination: Ketu (alone or with a functional malefic) in the 7th house from the Arudha Lagna.
  • Effect: The native projects a brave, warrior-like, unconventional image to the world. They are perceived as sahasi (courageous), possibly also vridha-kesi (unusual hair/appearance), and may have unconventional physical characteristics. The projected persona is one that challenges norms.
  • Strength: Stronger when Ketu is with a functional malefic. Weaker when benefics aspect the 7th from AL.
  • Cancellation: Benefics in 7th from AL or aspecting it redirect the image toward wealth and virtue rather than courage/eccentricity.
  • Example: BPHS verse referenced in class-55: Ketu + functional malefic in 7th from AL → sahasi, vridha-kesi, large genitals (indicating physical distinctiveness).

Yoga — Chora Yoga (thief yoga in Upapada context)

  • Source: class-60
  • Required-combination: 2nd lord (lord of the second house from Upapada Lagna) placed in the 2nd house from UL, along with a malefic planet.
  • Effect: Spouse has dishonest tendencies; the marriage partner may be deceptive, prone to theft, or morally compromised in material dealings. The second house from UL shows family of spouse and their values; this combination corrupts those values.
  • Strength: Stronger with natural malefics (Saturn, Mars, Rahu, Ketu) rather than mere functional malefics.
  • Cancellation: Benefics in 2nd from UL counteract this yoga.
  • Example: BPHS Chapter 30 verse cited in class-60.

Yoga — Satkirti Yoga (good reputation from arudha)

  • Source: class-55, class-56
  • Required-combination: Exalted planet placed in the 7th house from Arudha Lagna, OR functional benefic in 2nd from UL.
  • Effect: The native gains not just material wealth but also satkirti — genuine good reputation, fame, and public honour. Others speak well of them without being prompted. Their image in the world reflects nobility.
  • Strength: Exalted planets are most powerful. Benefics in multiple key arudha positions (7th from AL, 11th from AL, 2nd from UL) compound the satkirti effect.
  • Cancellation: Malefic influence on the same positions undermines reputation even if wealth remains.
  • Example: Class-55 discussion of BPHS verse: "If exalted planet is in 7th from AL → wealth and satkirti (good fame)."

Yoga — Foreign/Unconventional Income Yoga

  • Source: class-54
  • Required-combination: Rahu placed in the 12th house from the Arudha Lagna.
  • Effect: The native earns through foreign connections, unconventional means, or outside mainstream society. Expenses and income are both routed through non-traditional channels. Rahu in 12th from AL specifically indicates adharmic or at least irregular income paths — may indicate earning from abroad, from unusual professions, or through speculation.
  • Strength: Amplified if Rahu is also receiving supportive aspects from lagna lord or 11th house factors.
  • Cancellation: If 11th from AL simultaneously has strong benefics, the irregular income is balanced by more legitimate gains.
  • Example: Dhirubhai Ambani chart discussion (class-54): Rahu's placement relative to AL as one factor in his unconventional rise.

Yoga — Luxury Expense Yoga

  • Source: class-54
  • Required-combination: Sun, Venus, or Rahu placed in the 12th house from Arudha Lagna.
  • Effect: The native spends lavishly on luxury items, comforts, pleasures, and indulgences. Their expenses are directed toward high-end living. This is not necessarily adharmic (Sun/Venus are not always malefic) — it simply means their money flows toward sensory comfort and luxury.
  • Strength: Most powerful when two of these three planets are together in 12th from AL.
  • Cancellation: Functional malefic overlay or Saturn aspecting can redirect toward obligation-based spending instead.
  • Example: BPHS Chapter 29 verse cited in class-54: "If Sun, Venus, or Rahu is in 12th from AL, person spends on luxury."

Yoga — Wealth Through Jupiter/Venus/Moon in 7th from AL

  • Source: class-55
  • Required-combination: Jupiter, Venus, or Moon in the 7th house from the Arudha Lagna.
  • Effect: The native gains wealth through partnerships, public dealings, and interactions with others. These planets in 7th from AL make the projected image attractive and beneficial — others are drawn to the native and bring prosperity. Moon specifically gives popularity with the masses.
  • Strength: All three together is extremely powerful. Even one of the three is beneficial.
  • Cancellation: Malefics conjunct these planets in 7th from AL can restrict the flow of wealth through partnerships.
  • Example: BPHS Chapter 29 verse cited in class-55.

v2 Batch 7 — Classes 61–70

Yogas — Batch 7 (v61–v70)

Source: PVR Narasimha Rao, BPHS Chapter 33 Classes

Yoga — Hansa Yoga

  • Source: Class 70 (Srirama's chart analysis)
  • Required-combination: Jupiter in its own sign (Sagittarius or Pisces) or exaltation in a Kendra (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th house)
  • Effect: Person is dharmic, spiritual, wise, respected; has excellent moral character; Kapha constitution; tends toward contentment and optimism
  • Strength: Strongest when Jupiter is in Lagna in own sign; modified by Saturn's aspect
  • Cancellation: Heavy Saturn influence can reduce the expression of Hansa Yoga to mere contentment/laziness rather than active wisdom
  • Example: Srirama's chart (July 26, 1951, Visakhapatnam) — Jupiter in Pisces in Lagna = Hansa Yoga, giving spiritual, dharmic nature

Yoga — Brahma Yoga

  • Source: Class 70 (Srirama's chart)
  • Required-combination: Jupiter and Saturn both associating with Lagna (conjunct or aspecting)
  • Effect: Person has spiritual wisdom combined with discipline; deeply dharmic; potential for spiritual attainment through both knowledge and austerity
  • Strength: Full Brahma Yoga requires close conjunction; Srirama's case is partial (Jupiter in Lagna, Saturn aspecting from distance = "partial Brahma Yoga")
  • Cancellation: Large angular separation between Jupiter and Saturn reduces to partial expression

Yoga — Gaja Kesari Yoga

  • Source: Class 70
  • Required-combination: Moon and Jupiter in Kendra positions from each other (1/4/7/10 relationship)
  • Effect: Fame, wealth, wisdom, kingly qualities; person rises above circumstances
  • Strength: Stronger when both planets are in good dignity and in Kendra from Lagna as well
  • Example: In Srirama's chart, Sun is in 6th house in Gaja Kesari context (fighting aspect)

Yoga — Viparita Raja Yoga (refuted for D6/D30)

  • Source: Class 70
  • Required-combination: Dusthana lords (6th, 8th, 12th) in other Dusthanas
  • Effect: In standard charts, can give unexpected rise after suffering; however PVR explicitly states there is NO Viparita Raja Yoga in D6 (Shashtamsa) — when analyzing health problems, dusthana lords in other dusthanas simply worsen the problem, not improve it
  • Strength: Valid in Rasi chart for worldly matters; NOT applicable in D6 for health
  • Cancellation: D6 context removes the "Viparita" (reversal) benefit

Yoga — Udaya Raja Yoga (Vikritha Raja Yoga)

  • Source: Class 70 (Srirama's D6 chart)
  • Required-combination: Dusthana lord in another Dusthana, specifically in D6 context
  • Effect: In D6, even though it doesn't create Viparita Raja Yoga, it can give a "fighting" quality — the person struggles but there is possibility of temporary relief or improvement
  • Strength: Moderate; gives hope of recovery but not complete cure
  • Example: Venus as 8th lord in 6th house in D6 — some fighting against the ailment, possible partial recovery

Yoga — Granthakarta Yoga (Author/Writer Yoga)

  • Source: Classes 65, 70 (BPHS Ch. 33)
  • Required-combination: Moon + Jupiter in Karakamsha or 5th from Karakamsha
  • Effect: Person becomes a celebrated author with scholarship in all knowledge
  • Strength: Moon+Jupiter is best; Venus second; Mercury third; Jupiter alone = knowledgeable but not necessarily famous as author
  • Cancellation: Malefic influence can reduce fame; Venus in the combination reduces caliber slightly
  • Example: Aurobindo (discussed in Class 65) as an example of authorship yoga

Yoga — Paramahamsa Yoga

  • Source: Classes 63, 70 (BPHS Ch. 33)
  • Required-combination: Mercury in 5th from Karakamsha (or in Karakamsha itself)
  • Effect: Person attains the Paramahamsa quality — ability to communicate highest spiritual truths to anyone at their level; transcends barriers of caste, class, education
  • Strength: Strongest when Mercury is well-placed and aspected by benefics
  • Cancellation: Malefic influence on Mercury reduces the purity of communication
  • Example: Ramakrishna Paramahamsa exemplifies this quality (to be verified with his chart)

Yoga — Kuntastra Yoga (Spear Skill)

  • Source: Class 70 (BPHS Ch. 33)
  • Required-combination: Mars alone in 4th or 6th from Karakamsha
  • Effect: Person is skilled with spear (kunta) or hand-to-hand combat weapons; aggressive fighter
  • Strength: Mars alone (without benefic influence) maximizes the martial quality

Yoga — Dhanurvidya Yoga (Archery Skill)

  • Source: Classes 65, 70 (BPHS Ch. 33)
  • Required-combination: Saturn in 5th (or 4th/6th) from Karakamsha
  • Effect: Person is skilled in Dhanurvidya — archery or ranged combat; uses patience and distance rather than aggression; disciplined in warfare
  • Strength: Saturn in own sign or exalted maximizes the skill

Yoga — Sarva Darshana Yoga

  • Source: Class 70 (BPHS Ch. 33)
  • Required-combination: Jupiter in 5th from Karakamsha
  • Effect: Person has perfect understanding of all subjects (Sarvavidgranthika); knows Vedas and Vedanta; not necessarily eloquent in public but has fine deep understanding; knows grammar, meter, and theory of words
  • Strength: Stronger when Jupiter is in good dignity; independent of other influences showing deep scholarship
  • Cancellation: Jupiter's inability to give public eloquence noted — this is the distinction from Mercury's Paramahamsa yoga

v2 Batch 8 — Classes 71–80

Yogas — Batch 8 (v71–v80)

Yoga — Raja Yoga (kendra-kona conjunction/exchange/aspect)

  • Source: v72 (BPHS Ch. 34, v.11–12)
  • Required combination: A kendra lord and a trikona lord are (a) in exchange of signs (parivartana), (b) in the same sign, or (c) aspecting each other with full or partial aspect.
  • Effect: The native becomes a king or a particularly famous person (bhūpo vikhyāto vā jano bhavet). Success and fame.
  • Strength: If they are in one of their own houses (kendra or trikona), the yoga is stronger. If in another sign, it still applies but with lesser intensity. Full aspect gives more power than partial aspect.
  • Cancellation: If either planet also owns a dussthana (3, 6, 11), the yoga is weakened. A tainted raja yoga gives success through effort rather than ease.
  • Example: 9th and 10th lords together in the 9th or 10th house = strong dharma-karma adhipati yoga (raja yoga).

Yoga — Yogakaraka (single-planet raja yoga)

  • Source: v72 (BPHS Ch. 34, v.12); also implicitly across all lagna verses v73–v75
  • Required combination: A single planet that (a) owns both a kendra and a trikona, OR (b) a kendra lord placed in a trikona, OR (c) a trikona lord placed in a kendra.
  • Effect: That planet becomes a special yogakaraka and independently delivers raja yoga results—prosperity, success, recognition—without requiring another planet's participation.
  • Strength: Varies by lagna: Saturn is yogakaraka for Taurus and Libra; Mars for Cancer and Leo; Venus for Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces; specific pairings for others.
  • Cancellation: If the same planet also owns a 6th or 11th house (dussthana without a redemptive trikona), the yoga is neutralized.
  • Example: For Cancer lagna, Mars owns 5th (trikona) and 10th (kendra)—classic yogakaraka. For Taurus lagna, Saturn owns 9th (trikona) and 10th (kendra)—yogakaraka.

Yoga — Dharma-Karma Adhipati Yoga

  • Source: v72 (mentioned in chart readings, v73, v74 repeatedly)
  • Required combination: 9th lord and 10th lord in conjunction, mutual aspect, or exchange.
  • Effect: Career aligned with dharma; fame, authority, recognition in society; person becomes a leader or public figure.
  • Strength: Stronger if one of them is in own house or exalted; stronger if they are natural friends; weakened if one is a functional malefic.
  • Cancellation: If one planet owns a 3rd, 6th, or 11th house also, the yoga loses purity.
  • Example: Sun (9th lord) and Mercury (10th lord) in Sagittarius lagna = dharma-karma yoga. For Virgo lagna, Venus (9th lord) and Mercury (1st & 10th lord) together = raja yoga.

Yoga — Gajakesari Yoga

  • Source: v71 (mentioned in Graha Pravesh muhurta discussion)
  • Required combination: Moon and Jupiter together or in mutual quadrants.
  • Effect: Fame, prosperity, good reputation. Traditional interpretation: person lives like a king.
  • Strength: Varies by lagna—for Cancer lagna, Moon-Jupiter combination is NOT auspicious because Jupiter is malefic (owns 6th); for Gemini lagna, Jupiter is malefic so Gajakesari becomes a potentially problematic yoga.
  • Cancellation: If Jupiter is a functional malefic for the lagna, Gajakesari does not give the expected results; may even indicate death-related events.
  • Example: In a Graha Pravesh muhurta (Jan 11, 2011), Moon and Jupiter together in Pisces lagna = auspicious Gajakesari. But for Cancer lagna natives, the same yoga is problematic.

Yoga — Mala Yoga (garland yoga)

  • Source: v76 (BPHS Ch. 35 — Nabhasa Yogas, v.9–10)
  • Required combination: Natural benefic planets occupy three of the four kendras (1, 4, 7, 10).
  • Effect: Auspicious yoga—the native is garlanded (gifted) by benefic energies in the main quadrants; life flows with benefic support in key areas of effort.
  • Strength: All three benefics in kendras = strongest form.
  • Cancellation: If the three planets are natural malefics instead, it becomes Sarpa (snake) Yoga—inauspicious.
  • Example: Jupiter in lagna, Venus in 4th, Mercury in 7th = Mala Yoga.

Yoga — Sarpa Yoga (snake yoga)

  • Source: v76 (BPHS Ch. 35, v.9–10)
  • Required combination: Natural malefic planets occupy three of the four kendras.
  • Effect: Inauspicious yoga—the native is afflicted by malefic energies in key quadrants; obstacles, difficulties, and suffering in main areas of life.
  • Strength: More malefics = stronger negative effect.
  • Cancellation: Benefics in the same kendras offset the malefic concentration.
  • Example: Mars in lagna, Saturn in 4th, Rahu in 10th = Sarpa Yoga.

Yoga — Rajju Yoga (rope yoga)

  • Source: v76 (BPHS Ch. 35, v.3–5)
  • Required combination: All seven planets (excluding nodes) placed in movable (chara) signs: Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn.
  • Effect: Person has a tendency to keep moving, changing, not settling. If planets are strong, the "rope" quality can mean being tied down (focused) despite mobile signs. If weak, person is restless and cannot commit.
  • Strength: Strong planets give stability paradoxically; weak planets increase instability.
  • Cancellation: If even one planet falls outside the four movable signs, the yoga does not form.
  • Example: All planets in Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn = Rajju Yoga.

Yoga — Musala Yoga (plow yoga)

  • Source: v76 (BPHS Ch. 35, v.3–5)
  • Required combination: All seven planets in fixed (sthira) signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius.
  • Effect: Person is perseverant, persistent; efforts are like plowing—slow but fruitful. Long-term projects succeed. Person is stable and productive.
  • Strength: Strong planets make efforts very fruitful; weak planets make person stubborn without results.
  • Cancellation: Any planet outside the four fixed signs breaks the yoga.
  • Example: All planets in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius = Musala Yoga.

Yoga — Nala Yoga (dual-sign yoga)

  • Source: v76 (BPHS Ch. 35, v.3–5)
  • Required combination: All seven planets in dual (dvisva-bhava) signs: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces.
  • Effect: Results to be determined from the name (PVR noted uncertainty about "Nala" meaning); likely relates to dual nature, adaptability, or flowing quality.
  • Strength: See notes on Rajju and Musala for parallel interpretation.
  • Cancellation: Any planet outside the four dual signs breaks the yoga.

Yoga — Gada Yoga (mace yoga)

  • Source: v76 (BPHS Ch. 35, v.11)
  • Required combination: All seven planets in two consecutive kendras (e.g., 1st & 4th, 4th & 7th, 7th & 10th, or 10th & 1st).
  • Effect: Strength, vitality, power. One quadrant and its directional house (4th from it) are strongly endowed. Something involving Vishnu-sthana effort will strongly flourish. The person's strength of character is notable.
  • Strength: Whichever quadrant-pair is occupied determines what area flourishes (career vs. desires vs. direction in life, etc.).
  • Cancellation: Any planet outside the two kendras breaks the yoga.
  • Example: All planets in 1st and 4th houses = Gada Yoga; suggests flourishing of self-expression and direction in life.

  • Cancellation: Any planet in any house other than 1st or 7th breaks the yoga.

Yoga — Vihanga Yoga (bird yoga)

  • Source: v76 (BPHS Ch. 35, v.11)
  • Required combination: All seven planets in the 4th and 10th houses only.
  • Effect: Workaholic nature; highly work-oriented, very hardworking like a bird. Person is flexible, industrious, and always in motion accomplishing tasks. Has strong direction in life combined with action.
  • Strength: Strong planets = highly productive achiever.
  • Cancellation: Any planet in any house other than 4th or 10th breaks the yoga.

Yoga — Shrngataka Yoga (mountain peak / three-pointed yoga)

  • Source: v76 (BPHS Ch. 35, v.12)
  • Required combination: All seven planets in the three trines (1st, 5th, 9th houses).
  • Effect: Highly auspicious yoga. All planets concentrated in the Lakshmi-sthanas (blessings houses). Person receives abundant blessings from past karma; things come easily; strong purva punya, dharma, and lagna.
  • Strength: Strongest possible nabhasa auspicious concentration.
  • Cancellation: Any planet in a non-trine house breaks the yoga.

  • Effect: Gentle, divine person with pure desires, but ruthless in execution of work. Works for dharmic causes but is uncompromising in getting the work done. Strong character, indestructible purpose.
  • Strength: Strong malefics in 4th/10th = more power/ruthlessness in work; strong benefics in 1st/7th = purer intent.
  • Cancellation: Reversed position gives Yava Yoga.

Yoga — Yava Yoga (grain yoga)

  • Source: v76 (BPHS Ch. 35, v.12)
  • Required combination: Natural malefics in 1st and 7th houses AND natural benefics in 4th and 10th houses.
  • Effect: Person has strong desires (malefics in 1/7 amplify desire) but is gentle/routine in work execution. Not a great achiever; tends toward routine agricultural/ordinary careers. Less dynamic than Vajra Yoga.
  • Strength: Average; not considered as powerful as Vajra.
  • Cancellation: Reversed position gives Vajra Yoga.

Yoga — Kamala Yoga (lotus yoga)

  • Source: v76 (BPHS Ch. 35, v.12–13)
  • Required combination: All planets in all four kendras in a mixed pattern (not a strict Vajra/Yava arrangement).
  • Effect: A lotus yoga—beautiful, auspicious. All quadrants populated with all types of planets; the person has strong effort energy across all areas of life.
  • Strength: Named after the lotus, which suggests purity and growth.
  • Cancellation: Any planet in a non-kendra house breaks it.

Yoga — Vapi Yoga (well yoga)

  • Source: v76 (BPHS Ch. 35, v.12–13)
  • Required combination: All seven planets in non-kendra houses (Panpharas and Apokrimas only; no planets in kendras).
  • Effect: To be interpreted from the name (vapi = well/tank); person may be more internal, resources stored within, not outwardly active.
  • Strength: To be determined by planet strength.
  • Cancellation: Any planet in a kendra breaks it.

Yoga — Yupa Yoga (first four houses)

  • Source: v77 (BPHS Ch. 35, v.13)
  • Required combination: All seven planets within houses 1–4 (from lagna to 4th house).
  • Effect: Results by weapon analogy—Yupa means sacrifice post; person works with discipline and purpose toward self-development and direction in life. Gets things done through strength of personality.
  • Strength: Planets in 1st/4th kendra = stronger manifestation.
  • Cancellation: Any planet in houses 5–12 breaks the yoga.

Yoga — Sara Yoga (arrow yoga)

  • Source: v77 (BPHS Ch. 35, v.13)

  • Required combination: All seven planets within houses 10–1 (10th, 11th, 12th, 1st).
  • Effect: Workaholic karma yogi—keeps hitting like a stick, persistent, patient, enduring. Gets things done through sheer persistence and hard work. Tenth house of action is the seed house.
  • Strength: Strong 10th house = career-focused achiever; strong 1st house = reinforced by personal strength.
  • Cancellation: Any planet outside houses 10–1 breaks it.

Yoga — Nauka Yoga (ship yoga)

  • Source: v77 (BPHS Ch. 35, v.14)
  • Required combination: All seven planets within seven consecutive houses starting from lagna (houses 1–7).
  • Effect: Protection from sinking; the person is carried like a ship—has resources and protection across the first hemisphere. This is a superset of Yupa or Sara Yoga if present.
  • Strength: More common than individual four-house yogas; still significant.

v2 Batch 9 — Classes 81–90

Yogas — Batch 9 (v2, classes 81–90)

Yoga — Gajakesari Yoga (Vivekananda D10)

Source: class-82 Required-combination: Jupiter and Moon in Kendra (1st, 4th, 7th, or 10th house) from each other in the Dasamsa (D10) Effect: Capable of making a person famous — "Gajakesari Yoga itself means capable of making somebody a famous person." Strength increases when Jupiter and Venus are also conjunct in the same Kendra, forming a triple conjunction of benefics. Strength: In Vivekananda's D10, Jupiter and Venus were within ~8 degrees of each other in the 10th house (Scorpio), with Moon nearby. Jupiter (5th lord) and Venus (10th lord) formed a Raja Yoga simultaneously with Gajakesari — both Raja Yoga and Gajakesari in the same configuration. Cancellation: Not discussed Example: Vivekananda D10 Scorpio rising: Moon, Venus, Jupiter in 9th-10th house zone. Together with AL and A5 in the same zone. During Ketu Mahadasha (Shodashottari D10): world fame at the Chicago Parliament of Religions, 1893.

Yoga — 5th lord + 10th lord conjunction (career and fame)

Source: class-82, class-84, class-87 Required-combination: The 5th lord and 10th lord conjunct or in mutual Kendra/Kona from each other, especially in the Dasamsa (D10) Effect: Raja Yoga for career and recognition. The 5th lord (fame, intelligence, creative output) with the 10th lord (career, public status) creates a combination where professional recognition becomes tangible. Strength: Strongest when both planets are benefic, in each other's signs or friendly signs, and are also connected to AL/A5. Jupiter (5th lord) + Venus (10th lord) in Vivekananda D10 = very strong because both are natural benefics. Cancellation: If both lords are in Dusthanas (6th, 8th, 12th) from each other, the yoga is weakened. If one lord is combust or debilitated without cancellation, the yoga gives delayed results.

Yoga — Upadesha Raja Yoga (8th lord in 12th)

Source: class-87 (Romney D10) Required-combination: The 8th lord placed in the 12th house from the Lagna Effect: Power gained after suffering, loss, or withdrawal. The 8th lord's transformative energy passes through the 12th house (isolation, surrender, foreign/hidden realms) and emerges as authority. Particularly relevant for political careers or any role that requires sacrifice before rise. Strength: Stronger when the 8th lord is also connected to the 5th house (power) — either aspecting 5th lord or being aspected by 5th lord Cancellation: Not specifically discussed Example: Romney D10 (Pisces Lagna): Venus (8th lord) in the 12th house = Upadesha Raja Yoga. Venus Antardasha in Rahu Mahadasha gave governorship of Massachusetts (November 2002).

Yoga — Yogakaraka in the 11th house from Moon (material success)

Source: class-87 (Romney D10) Required-combination: The Yogakaraka planet (lord of both a Kendra and a Kona simultaneously) placed in the 11th house from Moon Effect: Exceptional gain and fulfillment of desires in the material world. 11th house from Moon is already good for gains; a Yogakaraka there is doubly powerful. If the Yogakaraka is also with 7th and 9th lords in that 11th house, it becomes a combination for trading, financial gain, and business fortune. Strength: Very strong when other lords of gain/power (7th, 9th) are also conjunct. In Romney D10 from Moon: Mars (Yogakaraka) in the 11th house with Saturn (7th lord) and Rahu in Gemini — "seventh lord and ninth lord together in the eleventh house of gain, that is awesome." Example: Romney's Mars Dasha (D10): Made his fortune at Bain Capital. "It was just before Mars Dasha that he started his firm, and during Mars Dasha that he made his killing."

Yoga — Parivartana Yoga between 9th and Lagna lords (D24 for education)

Source: class-89 (S Ram chart), class-90 (Vithal/Aditya) Required-combination: Exchange of signs between the Lagna lord and the 9th lord in the Siddhamsa (D24) Effect: Lakshmi Yoga for learning — the 9th house (higher/professional education) and the 1st house (the learner's basic nature) are in perfect mutual reinforcement. The native is extremely fortunate in matters of higher education, with a natural aptitude aligned with their educational path. Strength: Maximum when both exchange planets are also in friendly signs or Moolatrikona Example: S Ram's D24 with Gemini Lagna (if applicable): Mercury (Lagna lord) in the 9th, Rahu (9th lord) in Lagna = friendly Parivartana giving Lakshmi Yoga for education. Further strengthened if Mercury and Saturn also have a Parivartana (4th and 9th lords exchanging).

Yoga — Lagna lord + 9th lord in 11th house from Sun (Raja Yoga for career)

Source: class-85 (NMK D10), class-86 Required-combination: In D10, from Sun as Lagna, the Lagna lord and the 9th lord are conjunct in the 11th house Effect: Powerful Raja Yoga for career success — the individual's core identity (Lagna lord from Sun = Sun itself) and fortune (9th lord) unite in the house of gain and fulfillment. Strong indicator of promotion, recognition, and career success. Strength: Stronger when both planets are functional benefics and are not debilitated Example: NMK's D10: From Sun in Libra, Mercury is 9th lord in 11th house (with the Lagna lord). Mercury Antardasha gave good job placement in June 2005.

Yoga — Harsha Yoga (6th lord in 6th house)

Source: class-83 (Shilpa Navamsa) Required-combination: The 6th lord placed in the 6th house from the Lagna Effect: Harsha Yoga — a yoga of personal happiness. The 6th lord returns to its own house, reducing the malefic impact of the 6th (enemies, disease, debts). The person tends to overcome enemies and obstacles and experiences happiness despite difficulties. Strength: Moderate; more effective when the 6th lord is in own sign (both 6th lord AND 6th house being the same) or when the 6th lord is exalted. Example: Shilpa's Navamsa: Mercury in Gemini (own sign) = 6th lord in 6th house = Harsha Yoga. Mercury therefore well-placed despite 6th house association.

v2 Batch 10 — Classes 91–100

Yogas — Batch 10 (v2, classes 91–99)

Yoga — Dur Yoga (bad yoga)

  • Source: class-92, class-93, class-99
  • Required combination: A trikona lord (1st, 5th, or 9th) or kendra lord (1st, 4th, 7th, or 10th) exchanges signs with, conjoins, or is aspected by a dusthana lord (6th, 8th, or 12th lord).
  • Effect: Corrupts the positive house's results; leads to setbacks, health issues, financial loss, or relationship breakdown depending on which houses are involved. Ketu-Jupiter exchange in D10 where Ketu is 12th lord and Jupiter is lagna lord = Dur Yoga for career.
  • Strength: Proportional to how clean the dusthana lordship is (if dusthana lord owns only a dusthana, the yoga is pure Dur; if it also owns a trikona, the yoga is mixed).
  • Cancellation: A strong trikona lord aspecting the afflicted planet can partially cancel. Retrograde planet reduces both good and bad effects.
  • Example: In class-93 Obama D10: antardasha planets forming Dur Yoga accelerate challenges rather than neutralize the overall Raja Yoga of Rahu Mahadasha.

Yoga — Raja Yoga (royal combination)

  • Source: class-93, class-94, class-99
  • Required combination: A trikona lord (1, 5, or 9) conjoins or aspects a kendra lord (1, 4, 7, or 10). Minimum one must own a trikona and one must own a kendra; overlap (1st lord = both kendra and trikona) counts.
  • Effect: Rise in status, authority, wealth, and recognition during the dasha/antardasha of either planet. The stronger the planets and the closer the conjunction or aspect, the more powerful and immediate the results.
  • Strength: Exalted or own-sign planets give stronger Raja Yoga; debilitated or retrograde planets give weaker or delayed Raja Yoga. Two debilitated planets in Raja Yoga can still produce results through struggle and initiative (seen in class-99 D10: debilitated Jupiter + Sun in 3rd house of initiative).
  • Cancellation: Dusthana placement (6, 8, 12) of both planets weakens the yoga; heavy malefic affliction by natural malefics also reduces.
  • Example: Class-99 D10, taking 6th house as lagna: 5th lord Jupiter and 10th lord Sun form Raja Yoga in the 3rd house (initiative) — triggers military/investigative career.

Yoga — Viparita Raja Yoga (reverse royal combination)

  • Source: class-96, class-99
  • Required combination: A dusthana lord (6th, 8th, or 12th) is placed in one of the other two dusthanas (not its own sign). For example, 6th lord in the 8th, 8th lord in the 12th, 12th lord in the 6th. The planet must be unafflicted by kendra or trikona lords.
  • Effect: Produces unexpected rise, often through others' downfall, sudden windfalls, or recovery from extreme difficulty. Works most powerfully during the dasha of the involved planet.
  • Strength: Pure Viparita (only dusthana owners involved) is strongest. If a kendra lord joins, it becomes mixed.
  • Cancellation: Aspect by a kendra or trikona lord can cancel the reversal effect.
  • Example: Class-99: Venus as 3rd and 8th lord in 6th house = Rudra's Raja Yoga — some tensions initially, then rise after a period.

Yoga — Rudra's Raja Yoga (8th lord in 6th)

  • Source: class-99
  • Required combination: The 8th lord placed in the 6th house (a form of Viparita Raja Yoga).
  • Effect: Starts with tension and conflict (6th house challenges) but leads to significant rise, authority, and recognition after overcoming those challenges. Named after Rudra (Shiva's destructive-yet-regenerative aspect).
  • Strength: Proportional to the strength of the 8th lord in the 6th house.
  • Cancellation: If 6th lord simultaneously afflicts the 8th lord in the 6th, the rise is delayed or limited.
  • Example: Class-99 Venus as 3rd-8th lord in 6th house (D10 analysis): career starts with tension but eventually produces great rise.

Yoga — Kama Trikona convergence (3rd–7th–11th lords on a planet)

  • Source: class-99
  • Required combination: The lords of all three Kama (desire) houses — 3rd, 7th, and 11th — aspect or conjoin a single planet.
  • Effect: Extremely strong desire-fulfillment energy concentrated on that planet's significations. The planet becomes an amplified vehicle for achieving goals related to Kama (desire, will, drive). Career or life purpose flows strongly through that planet.
  • Strength: The more lords that are exact in aspect, the stronger the concentration.
  • Cancellation: Difficult to cancel; only heavy mutual affliction of all three lords could weaken it.
  • Example: Class-99 D10 (career chart): 3rd lord Mars himself, plus 7th lord Moon, plus 11th lord Jupiter all aspect Mars in Aries — all Kama houses converge on Mars, making it the undisputed career planet.

Yoga — Argala (intervention of a planet on a reference point)

  • Source: class-99
  • Required combination: A planet placed in the 2nd, 4th, 11th (primary Argala positions) or 5th (secondary Argala) from a reference point (Lagna, Arudha, planet, etc.). Natural malefics in the 3rd from a reference point create Yuti Argala (forceful intervention).
  • Effect: The planet actively enriches, supports, or disrupts the reference point's significations. Second-house Argala adds resources; fourth-house Argala adds direction and happiness; eleventh-house Argala adds fulfillment. Yuti Argala (malefics in 3rd) creates sudden forceful intervention that makes things happen against obstacles.
  • Strength: Planets in Argala positions that are strong (exalted, own sign) give powerful Argala; weak planets give partial.
  • Cancellation: The Argala is canceled by a stronger planet in the reverse position (12th cancels 2nd Argala, 10th cancels 4th Argala, 3rd cancels 11th Argala, 9th cancels 5th Argala).
  • Example: Class-99 D24 analysis: Sun and Mars in 2nd from A9 (Arudha of 9th) create Argala on the bachelor's education — Sun (5th lord) and Mars (9th lord) form a Raja Yoga with Argala on the education Arudha.

Yoga — Maraka Yoga (death-inflicting combination)

  • Source: class-94, class-99
  • Required combination: 2nd lord and/or 7th lord in a dasha, especially when the 8th house is simultaneously triggered by transit or antardasha.
  • Effect: Life-threatening illness, coma, or death if the overall longevity pattern is weak. If longevity is inherently strong, produces near-death events, accidents, or severe setbacks.
  • Strength: 2nd lord is the primary maraka; 7th lord is secondary. Both together in a period is very dangerous.
  • Cancellation: Strong lagna lord as antardasha or strong Jupiter aspecting the lagna reduces the maraka effect.
  • Example: Class-94: Jupiter dasha (2nd lord), Rahu antardasha (lagna lord) = survival in coma case because lagna lord protects. Class-99: Jupiter dasha (2nd lord in 7th house) running in D24 — possible break in education but not necessarily permanent.

Yoga — Shastiamsa Raja Yoga (6th/8th relationship between Darakaraka and Atmakaraka)

  • Source: class-96
  • Required combination: Darakaraka (DK) and Atmakaraka (AK) in Navamsa are in the 6/8 axis (Shashtashaka).
  • Effect: Soul-level incompatibility between partners. May function at the worldly level but spiritually divergent; the relationship tests both souls without leading to mutual spiritual growth.
  • Strength: The closer the planetary degrees of DK and AK, the more direct the incompatibility.
  • Cancellation: Strong benefic 5th or 9th lord aspecting both in Navamsa can provide grace; spiritual practice by both partners can transmute the karma.
  • Example: Class-96 female chart: DK and AK in Shashtashaka in Navamsa = primary soul-level obstacle to sustained marriage, independent of material compatibility.
