🙏 Opening & Chapter Location
Class opens with Parampara invocation and Om Hare Rama Krishna.
BPHS Chapter completed: Tritiya Janma Shanti Adhyaya — Chapter 95 in Santhanam's version.
New beginning: BPHS Srishti Karma Kathana Adhyaya — Chapter 1 (revision restart).
👶 Tritiya Janma Shanti — The Remedy
Condition: Tritiya Janma — birth after three children of the same sex.
- Three boys → girl born (or)
- Three girls → boy born
Sanskrit verse:
Sutattraye sutaa janma tattraye suta janma cet. Tadarishtabhayam jneyam pitrumaatrukuladvaye.
Risk: Danger (arishta) for the family on both father's side and mother's side (kula dvaye) — grandparents, uncles, aunts.
[!NOTE] The probability of this situation occurring today is extremely low — roughly 1 in 80,000 given modern family sizes. In ancient India with large families, it was perhaps 1 in 8.
Timing
- End of sutakanta (post-birth impurity period: 11–21 days) OR any auspicious day
The Four Devatas
| Devata | Role in Ritual |
|---|---|
| Brahma | Creator; specially mentioned here |
| Vishnu | Sustainer |
| Mahesha (Shiva) | Destroyer |
| Indra | King of gods; protector |
In most other Gandanta remedies Brahma is not mentioned; here he is specifically included.
Procedure
- Select an Acharya (Vedic scholar)
- Perform Graha Yajna (Navagraha homam) — Graha yajna puraskaram
- Establish four idols of Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesha, Indra on a pile of grains (dhanya rashi) with kalasha
- Read four Rudra Suktas — and Shanti Suktas
- One pure Brahmin reads the Sukta while the Acharya offers samidha (twigs), ghee, tila (sesame seeds), and cooked rice
- Homam for Brahma and all devatas (especially the four)
- Srishtakrut mantra offering to Agni: Agnaye Srishtakruthe Idam Mama
- Purnahuti (final offering)
- Abhishekam of the newborn and entire family (both paternal and maternal relatives if accessible)
- Dana to ritvigs, brahmin feeding
- First see baby's reflection in a bronze vessel/plate (kamsya patra) before looking at baby directly
- Distribute grains, clothes to the poor and orphans (deena anatha)

🔭 Q&A: Narayana Dasha — Three-Part Soul Analysis
Q: In Narayana Dasha, one-third of a sign's period belongs to that sign itself (e.g., 12 years → 4 years for the sign). If Dasha sign = Cancer (= Lagna), what do we see?
PVR's answer: Consider:
- The nature of the sign (e.g., Cancer = fruitful, emotional, productive)
- What house it is from Lagna (1st house = wellbeing, health, overall self)
- What house it is from Arudha Lagna (e.g., 8th house from AL = sudden changes to image)
- Houses from various Arudhas and Badhaka Lagna
D6 (Shashtamsa) application: When the Dasha sign becomes active, see how it manifests in D6 for health events.
Narayana Dasha's three-part soul analysis: each sign's period has three sub-segments — one for sign significations, one for planet aspects, one for Arudha effects.
🌌 BPHS Restart: Chapter 1 — Srishti Karma Kathana
Maitreya's Questions to Parashara
Katham srusti riyam jata jagadastyalayach katham. Kasthanam bhusithanam cha sambandham vada vistarat.
"How did this creation happen? How does it end? What is the link between the bodies in the sky and the bodies roaming the Earth?"
Parashara's invocation before teaching:
Athaham paramam brahma tachchaktim bharatim punah. Suryam natwa grahapatim jagadutpatti karanam.
He first bows to:
- Paramabrahma (the Supreme Being)
- Bharati (Saraswati, Brahma's Shakti)
- Surya — the cause of the birth of the entire creation
He calls Jyotisha: "the eye of the Vedas" (Vedaneyam) — not just a limb but the very eye.
"Parashara says he heard this from Brahma's own mouth directly." — PVR
🎓 Who Should Receive This Knowledge
Shantaya guru bhaktaya sarvadaa satyavaadinae aastikaaya pradaatavyam.
| Qualifier | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Shanta | Peaceful and relaxed |
| Guru bhakta | Devoted to the teacher |
| Satyavaadina | Always speaks truth |
| Aastika | Believes in God |
Nadeyam parishishyaaya naastikaaya chathaaya va datte pratidinam dukham jaayate.
"Do not give this to an atheist or arrogant stubborn person — every day you will get unhappiness from it."
[!WARNING] Teaching Jyotisha to an unworthy student generates intense karma for the teacher — Parashara implies daily suffering, indicating the magnitude of the karmic debt involved.
🌌 The Three Shaktis and the Cosmic Hierarchy
Vyaktaavyaktastribhiryuktah kachate'nanta shaktimaan. Sattva pradhaana shriishaktirbhushaktishcha rajogunaa. Shaktistriteeyaayaa proktaneelaakhyaadhvaantaroopini.
The Supreme Paramapurusha (expressed and unexpressed) is accompanied by three Shaktis:
| Shakti | Guna | Identity |
|---|---|---|
| Sri Shakti (Mahalakshmi) | Sattva | Preserving |
| Bhu Shakti (Bhudevi / Saraswati) | Rajas | Creating |
| Neela Shakti (Parvati / Durga) | Tamas | Transforming |
[!NOTE] Parashara does not name the Supreme Being (he says Vyaktaavyakta — expressed/unexpressed). One may call Him Narayana, Sadashiva, or simply Paramapurusha — all are valid from different perspectives.
🌀 Vasudeva, Sankarshana, Pradyumna, Aniruddha

| Vasudeva | Sri Shakti (Sattva-dominant) | Vishnu |
| Sankarshana | Tamas (Neela Shakti) | Shiva / Rudra |
| Pradyumna | Rajas (Bhu Shakti) | Brahma-energy |
| Aniruddha | Sattva | Brahma |
🧠 Ahamkara, Brahma, and Creation
Pradyumno rajasaashaktyanrudha sattvayaayutah. Mahan sankarsanaajjaatah pradyumnadjata'hankrite.
The chain of manifestation:

B -->|Rajas = Pradyumna| C[Ahamkara — the I-sense]
C --> D[All distinct Devatas arise]
D -->|Sattva from Aniruddha| E[Brahma — Creator]
E --> F[World Creation]
- Why Rajas first? Rajas creates differentiation (I am this, I am that). Without Rajas, there is no separate I-ness.
- Brahma from Aniruddha (Sattva): The purest creative force comes from Sattva, channeled through the I-ness birthed by Rajas.
Different Puranic accounts: Devi Rahasya in Markandeya Purana gives a Mahalakshmi-centric account. Neither is wrong — they are different perspectives on the same ineffable truth.
🌟 Jivatma and Paramatma in All Beings
Sarvesha cheva jiveshu paramatma virajate. Sarvam hi tadidam Brahman stitam hi paramatmani.
"In all beings, Paramatma shines. All of this creation is stationed within Paramatma — and Paramatma is within all."
Sarvesha cheva jiveshu stitam hamsa dvayam kvachit. Jivamsho hyadakah tadvat paramam paramatmansakah kila.
Within every being there are two amshas:
- Jivamsha — the living/animate aspect
- Paramatmamsha — the Supreme Being aspect
🪐 Grahas and Their Paramatmansa
Suryaadayo graha sarve Brahma kamad visadayaha. Yete chanye cha bahu paramatmansa adhikaaha.
| Being | Paramatmamsha | Jivamsha |
|---|---|---|
| Sun, Moon, planets, Devatas | Higher Paramatmamsha | Lower Jivamsha |
| Ordinary humans | Lower Paramatmamsha | Higher Jivamsha |
Implication for astrology: The planets are not "just balls of rock" — they are beings with a higher proportion of the Cosmic Consciousness. That is why they have the ability to influence and guide human destiny.
"The way to increase Paramatmamsha within you is through practice — sadhana." — PVR
