Maraka Dasha Identification — Three Systems

The student asks: "Can Saturn Dasha be Maraka here?"

Key teaching: Saturn (Lagna Vimshottari Dasha lord) will give Jupiter's results due to exchange. Jupiter is the 7th lord (Maraka) and is in Gandanta. A planet being in own sign does NOT prevent exchange of results — strength of a planet does not stop result-exchange between mutual exchangers.

Multi-dasha cross-check (mandatory for longevity):

[!WARNING] The teacher emphasises: never draw longevity conclusions from just one Dasha. Confirmation from two or three Dasha systems is required before flagging a Maraka period.

Shula Dasha of Aquarius — Critical Period

Shula Dasha thumb rule: When Shula Dasha transits Arudha Lagna (AL), its trines, or the 3rd from AL, it can indicate death-related events.

AL and A7 for this chart: Both fall in Gemini (Gemini = stronger of AL and A7 here). Trines from Gemini = Libra, Aquarius. Third from AL = Leo.

Current Shula Dasha = Aquarius (running till 2014):

Nature of death (3rd from AL = Leo with Sun + Rahu):

• Sun/Leo = could be in a government building, hospital, official space
• Rahu = something sudden, unnatural, unexpected
• Mars in Leo = possibility of accident-like suddenness

[!IMPORTANT] The Shula Dasha of Aquarius (through 2014) is the most critical window identified. The teacher states clearly: "There is a genuine chance. Be prepared, and intensify Mrityunjaya Mantra practice."

Three-Part Ayur Rule

The three pairs used:

Result: Two short lives, one medium life → short-to-medium longevity.

Exception applied: Lagna Lord Mercury is exalted in Lagna — a powerful saving grace that upgrades the result to the lower end of middle life.

[!NOTE] The teacher's conclusion: "This is not a chart with long life. With the exceptions, it enters middle life but in the lower half. Combined with bad Vimshottari Dashas, this confirms the longevity concern."

Teacher's Guidance on Death Awareness

A profound philosophical digression on preparing for death:

"We all die — whether today or a hundred years later, nobody knows for certain. Being astrologers, we have a little extra idea, but still not certainty. What decides your next Gati (destination) is the thought at the time of death. If attachments overwhelm the mind at the final moment — 'I wanted to do this, I could not do that' — those desires determine the next birth's agenda. The goal of all sadhana is to simulate death while alive, to practice cutting attachment to the body so that when it actually happens, the mind is steady."

Practical advice for the family:

• Let him play a role in the business but reduce day-to-day responsibilities
• Help him focus his mind on God
• The Hora chart shows a possible financial revival in ~1–2 years — allow him to participate with less stress

Saturn Dasha and Spiritual Progress (Vimshamsha)

Chart reference: Vimshamsha (D-20) — governs spiritual progress and devotion.

Saturn Dasha (Lagna Vimshottari) is currently running. Saturn will give Jupiter's results (exchange):

Assessment: Saturn Dasha is actually excellent for spiritual progress. It will give the results of the 5th lord (Bhakti) and 8th lord (Tapasya).

Mercury Antardasha (upcoming): Mercury is exalted in 2nd house and aspects the 8th house of sadhana from Saturn's position — good for spiritual austerities.

Ketu Antardasha (upcoming): Ketu is Karaka for serious sadhana (not just religious rituals but actual experience of the divine). Very auspicious.

Narayana Dasha of Vimshamsha

Current Narayana Dasha = Aquarius (contains Rahu + Ketu)

Three-part progression of the Dasha:

Overall: 2007–2013 is a period of increasing spiritual focus and awakening. A "ramp-up" toward genuine spiritual maturity.

Durdasha (Shola Dasha) for Spiritual Matters

Current Durdasha = Sagittarius (the Dasha sign)

Durdasha progress Lagna for Sagittarius = Aries (5th house from Sagittarius).

From Aries as progress Lagna:

• 8th lord associates with Ketu
• 12th lord is in Lagna (Aries)
• Fifth house of mantra/Bhakti has Sun–Rahu combination (natal + Dasha Pravesh)

Findings:

• 9th house of the Dasha (Sagittarius itself) has Jupiter + Saturn → Guru's blessings; Guru will come strongly into his life in this Dasha
• The person will find a Guru or deepen an existing Guru relationship
• Malefic planets (Rahu, Saturn, Ketu, Sun) dominating the mantra house → intense, Ugra sadhana, not gentle devotional activity

Recommended form of sadhana: Rudra or Hanuman — an Ugra Devata associated with Sun and Rahu.

"Malefic planets in the mantra house show intense sadhana — your legs hurt, your body hurts, you don't care. You keep doing. Like the Rakshasas who did intense Tapas — not just Rakshasas, great Rishis too. That kind of intense, unbroken focus."

Teaching on Mantra Sadhana — Kabir's Story

Kabir went to the saint Ramananda for mantra initiation. Ramananda was disturbed by the visit and simply uttered 'Ram, Ram' — not as formal initiation, just as an exclamation. Kabir took it as his mantra. With just 'Ram, Ram' done intensely, he had darshan of Hanuman, darshan of Rama, and experience of Brahman.

Core teaching:

1. Mantra upadesa (formal initiation from a guru) is valuable but not strictly necessary; it is almost impossible to find a truly qualified guru in Kali Yuga
2. Even a mantra from a book works — the Rishi who revealed it for Kali Yuga is always associated with it
3. What matters is intensity, not source: Hours daily, not minutes. "Minutes of sadhana is practically useless — not even enough to clear one day's impurities."
4. Pick one mantra and dig deep. "If you dig a hundred wells, you find no water. Dig one well a hundred feet, and you will find water."

The superiority of Hanuman sadhana:

"Most gods, if they come, come only through fire or ether — you need subtle perception to see them. Hanuman is a Chiranjivi. His physical body made of the five elements is still alive. With intense sadhana, it is actually possible to see him with your gross eyes. Many saints in the last few hundred years have seen him. Seeing any god once makes your life complete."

Navamsha Lagna: Leo (Cancer Navamsha Lagna also considered but Leo accepted)

• Lagna lord Sun in Scorpio (Martian sign) → strong Pitta constitution
• Badhaka lord Mars with Rahu → double Pitta aggravation
• Health issue: Migraine — confirmed by badly placed Sun + strong Pitta

Why migraine:

• Migraine = Pitta dosha aggravated; Sun is Pitta karaka
• Afflicted Sun in Navamsha gives headaches

Health remedy:

• Surya Ashtakshara Mantra (Om Hrim Surya Aditya) — as taught in Class 22
• Pitta-pacifying diet: Replace Andhra-style chillies with coriander + cumin + fennel powder as the base spice; add black pepper/dry ginger sparingly; eat cooling vegetables (beans, cucumber, squash, peas, carrots)

Spiritual assessment:

• 8th lord Jupiter in 9th with Ketu + 12th lord Moon in Saptamsha aspect
• 8th lord + 12th lord + Rahu–Ketu axis = excellent spirituality
• Possibly more spiritually advanced than her husband

Saturn Dasha (running):

• Saturn = 6th lord + 7th lord in Parivartana with Mercury (2nd lord)
• Wealth may deplete initially but recover after Mercury Antardasha triggers exchange
• Health overall: no terrible afflictions; dicey in Mercury sub-periods (Badhaka lord)

[!NOTE] Moon is the 8th lord in Gandanta (within 3°20′). During Moon Dasha (2015–2025), extra care is needed. Gandanta Shanti recommended if not done.

All 7 planets occupy 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th houses — a Graha Malika (garland of planets).

Student question — Kalamrita Yoga:

• There is a potential for Kalamrita only if Lagna is on one side of all planets. Here Lagna is in the middle of the garland (Cancer = 1st house; planets span 9th–12th). Teacher's view: Kalamrita Yoga is not present here. Graha Malika alone applies.

The "two and twelve" (Dwitiya-Dwadasha) teaching:

"Two planets in 2nd and 12th from each other is not automatically bad. One is depleting the other, yes — but if my wife is taking everything I earn, I'm happy to give her. What matters is WHO is depleting WHOM. In Graha Malika, it is a beautiful chain of giving — not an adversarial depletion."

Career & Business Analysis

Rajesh's stated preference: Business only; no job. Left an engineering job to pursue business.

Dasamsha (D-10) with Scorpio Lagna (probable):

Career prognosis:

• Venus–Ketu (current): Desire for business is strong; Ketu in D-10 as 7th lord acts like 11th lord in 11th (Parivartana); Parivartana from Dasha lord also confirms initiative and desire
• Sun Dasha (upcoming, ~1.5 years): Mars gives results of service and struggle, not immediate business

Stock Market & Finance (Hora Chart)

Hora (D-2) analysis for Rajesh:

Teacher's guidance:

• Avoid stock market — Mercury (planet of stock market intuition) is the 8th lord + functional trouble-maker in D-2; when Mercury Antardasha comes, financial ruin is possible (student confirms he stopped in Venus–Mercury Antardasha — correct)
• Saturn-ruled investments are best: Oil, steel, iron, civil engineering projects, petroleum
• Pharmaceutical field: Rahu = Karaka for medicines; Rahu in Venusian sign + Venus = karaka for medical chemicals; good for pharma investments

[!TIP] A3 and A11 both fall in the 7th house of the Hora chart → business initiative (A3) and gains (A11) are linked to partnerships and direct dealing — confirms business over service long-term, but not yet (Sun Dasha first).

Marriage Timing

Vimshamsha UL analysis:

• UL in 9th house (Dharma); UL lord = Rahu; 2nd from UL has Ketu → continuation of lineage

Marriage windows evaluated:

Teacher's verdict: Marry in 2008 if possible; Venus Ketu is the minimum acceptable window; waiting for Sun Dasha is suboptimal.

Wife's profile (from L7 = Cancer as Lagna in Navamsha):

• Cancer L7 → 9th house has Ketu (spirituality)
• 12th house owned by Mercury and affected by him → basic spirituality
• Lagna lord Moon in 10th → active personality; possible working woman
• Mars in 10th as 10th lord → suggests housewife potential (Mars as 10th lord in 10th = focus on home karma)

Atmakaraka–Darakaraka relationship in Vimshamsha:

• Mercury (AK) and Moon (DK) in mutual Dwitiya-Dwadasha — in Mandakarka sthana (8th) from Atmakaraka
• Assessment: wife's influence on spiritual progress is mixed/slightly challenging; wife herself is spiritual, but the relationship may test the native more than support him

Children — Saptamsha

D-7 (Saptamsha) analysis:

[!NOTE] The Putrakaraka in Mandakarka sthana from Atmakaraka in both Navamsha and Saptamsha repeating suggests a soul-level unresolved karma with children — not necessarily terrible externally, but an inner strife. The teacher notes there is still plenty of time.

Father's Longevity from Son's Chart

Dvadashamsha (D-12) — father:

• Sun = Pitrakaraka; in 9th house of Dvadashamsha with Rahu (8th lord)
• Sun is eclipsed by Rahu + 8th lord → unexpected, sudden bad news relating to father
• L9 (Arudha Pada of 9th house) is in Aquarius

From Aquarius as reference:

• Sun = 7th lord + in 2nd house + with malefic → strong Maraka configuration
• Sun Dasha (beginning soon for Rajesh) = Maraka period for father

Teacher's assessment:

"During Sun Dasha, there will be some bad news relating to your father. Whatever Dharma you need to do for your father, do it during Sun Dasha — and your Dharma will be performed in a Sattvic way (Pisces, a Sattvic sign contains these planets), though with sadness and possibly sudden circumstances (Rahu, 8th house)."

Spiritual Analysis — Parivrajya Yoga?

Indicators of renunciation tendency:

Teacher's verdict: The yoga is present but not overwhelming — you will remain a householder but a deeply spiritual one. The real sannyasa is of the mind, not of external circumstances.

"Real sannyasa is not renouncing wife, children, or career. Real sannyasa is of the mind — doing whatever Prakriti has placed you in a position to do, but constantly thinking 'This is Shiva, this is Shiva, this is Shiva.' Like the drop of water on the lotus leaf (Vivekananda). Being a businessman and a sanyasi at the same time is very difficult. It is not impossible. That is the real goal."

Mother's Health from Dvadashamsha

Cancer Lagna (assumed from L4 analysis):

• L4 (mother indicator) = Scorpio → Mars + Sun in Leo; Pitta planets → confirms Pitta constitution, headaches
• Saturn in Lagna with Yogakaraka → Sun Dasha for mother is good for Mantra Sadhana
• Moon Dasha (next for mother): 9th lord in 10th house = excellent
• Mars Dasha: Lagna lord Mars in Lagna = Lagna lord in own house, strong

Health concerns for mother:

• Mercury sub-periods (Badhaka lord + 8th lord dispositor) → blood pressure, systemic problems
• Sun Dasha: Pitta aggravation possible (Rahu with Sun), but no Maraka link

Overall verdict for mother: No terrible affliction detected; health is reasonable; Mercury sub-periods (e.g. Sun–Mercury ~2013–2014) require caution.

On Shula Dasha and Longevity

"More than Vimshottari or Narayana Dasha, when talking about death, Shula Dasha is paramount."

Shula Dasha Maraka rule:

• Trines from Arudha Lagna (and the stronger of AL / A7) are the most important signs
• When Shula hits AL, its trines (5th, 9th), or 3rd from AL, evaluate carefully
• Occupation and aspects of that Shula Dasha sign are key to severity and nature of death

On Graha Malika (Garland of Planets)

"Malika means garland — a chain of things. When planets are in a chain of consecutive houses, there is a beautiful flow of resources from one to the next. The starting point is the 'destination' of all resources; the end point (where the chain begins) is the 'source'. Both starting and ending planets matter greatly."

• Distinguish: Are the resources flowing toward Dharma (9th), Artha (2nd/6th), Kama (3rd/7th), or Moksha (12th)?
• The position of Lagna in relation to the chain tells you if Kalamrita Yoga also applies

On Karyesha and Atmakaraka

"When looking at the Navamsa for higher matters, the Atmakaraka sthana (sign of Atmakaraka in Navamsha) is as important as the Lagna. Planets in Mandakarka sthana (8th) from the Atmakaraka indicate problems at the soul level — deeper, harder to fix than physical or surface problems."
