"First, from Lagna (janmanga), see auspicious and inauspicious results. Then see the results of various houses."

[!NOTE] Parashara explicitly says: start with Lagna. The arishta/prosperity of the native must first be assessed from Lagna before reading house-by-house.

Chaturvimsati varshani yavad gachchhanti janmatah. Janmarishtam tu tavat syad ayurdayam na cintayet.

[!IMPORTANT] These are not merely academic combinations — they are actual dangers that can override normal longevity calculations. When one of these is seen in an infant's chart, remedies must be done immediately.

🌙 Combination 1: Moon in 6/8/12 Afflicted by Malefics

Shashtāshtarishphagash chandraḥ krūraiḥ kshataishca vīkshitaḥ. Jātasya mṛtyudaḥ sajjyaḥ taddvashtarshaiḥ subhecitaḥ.

Condition:

• Moon in 6th, 8th, or 12th house
• Afflicted (aspected or conjoined) by malefic planets
• No benefic aspects

Result: Short life — premature death.

Mitigation: If a benefic also aspects Moon, longevity can extend up to 8 years.

🔄 Combination 2: Retrograde Benefics as Substitutes for Moon

Shashivan mṛtyudāḥ saumyaḥ saumyāsh ced vakrāḥ krūravīkshitāḥ. Shishor jātasya mātena lagne saumya vivarjite.

Condition:

• Benefic planets (Mercury, Jupiter, Venus) that are retrograde
• Aspected by malefics
• Lagna not occupied or aspected by any benefic

Result: Such retrograde benefics act like afflicted Moon — can give short life.

[!NOTE] This extends Combination 1 to include retrograde benefics as "dangerous" planets when badly afflicted and Lagna is unprotected.

☀️ Combination 3: Malefics in 5th House — Mother/Brother Danger

Condition: 2 or more of {Sun, Mars, Saturn, Moon} in the 5th house

Result: Problem to mother or brother (not necessarily death — possibly suffering).

Why 5th house? Fifth house is Purva Punya — if the 5th is badly afflicted, the karmic bank account is depleted. Without enough past good karma, even the mother may not be protected.

♂️ Combination 4: Mars in Lagna or 8th Afflicted

Mrutyudah tu asthamasthopi saurena arkena va yutah.

☀️🌕 Combination 5: Eclipse/Rahu with Luminaries + Sun-Mars on Lagna

Chandrasurya grahe rahuś chandrasuryayute yadi. Sauribhaumekshitam lagna pakshamekan sajīvati.

Condition:

1. Birth during solar or lunar eclipse, OR Rahu is with Moon or Sun
2. AND Sun and Mars both aspect Lagna

Result: Longevity limited to one fortnight (extremely severe).

[!WARNING] Eclipse births combined with Mars-Sun affliction on Lagna are extremely dangerous. This combination alone justifies immediate Mrityunjaya Homa.

🪐 Combination 6: Saturn-Moon-Mars Placement

Karmasthāne sthitaḥ saureḥ shatru sthāne kalānidhiḥ. Kshudijaḥ saptama sthāne saha mātrā vipadyate.

Result: Inauspicious for both mother and baby (saha mātrā vipadyate).

Probability: Approx. 1 in 16,000 — rare but known to happen.

🪐 Combination 7: Saturn in Lagna + Moon in 8th + Jupiter in 3rd

Lagne Bhaskara Putrascha Nidhane Chandramā Yadi. Trutiyastho Yada Jivah Sayati Yama Mandiram.

Horayam na me surya sapta mastha senaischara ekadase guru shukro masa mekam sajivati.

🌑 Combination 9: Any Planet in 12th — Particularly Sun/Moon/Venus/Rahu

Vyaye sarve graha neshtaha surya shukrendura havah visheshan nasakartaro drushtya va bhangakarinah.

Principle: Any planet in the 12th house is inauspicious in the context of Arishta analysis.

Particularly dangerous: Sun, Moon, Venus, and Rahu — even by aspect on the 12th.

Rule: When two or more of these four occupy or aspect the 12th, expect problems during their Dashas.

❓ Q&A: Hora Chart Type for Longevity

The verse mentions "Hora chart" — PVR's analysis:

The Hora chart used for longevity cannot be the standard Kashinath Hora (all planets in Cancer or Leo) because the combination describes planets in the 9th, 7th, and 11th houses — impossible if all are only in two houses. There is a specific hora chart for longevity that allocates planets across all 12 signs.

🌅 Q&A: Sandhya Birth + Chandra Hora + Gandanta

Sandhyayam chandra horayam kandante nithayavae.

Three simultaneous conditions for an extremely dangerous birth:

1. Sandhya time — around sunrise or sunset
2. Chandra Hora — Moon's hora is running at birth
3. Gandanta — Lagna is in a Gandanta junction

Additional condition: Pratyekam Chandra Papaishta Kendrakaisyad Vinasanam — Moon and malefics are in quadrants.

This is a rare multi-condition combination. Meeting all conditions simultaneously is very uncommon.

☀️ Precise Definition of Sandhya

PVR's definition (based on the Parashara verse):

Ravesthu Mandalarddhaastaat Saayam Sandhya Trinaadikah. Tathaivarddhodayaat Puurvam Praata Sandhya Trinaadikah.

PVR's definition of sunrise/sunset: When Sun's center (Mandala Ardha) is at the horizon degree = when Sun's longitude equals Lagna's longitude.

"When Sun and Lagna are at the same degree, that is my definition of sunrise. Similarly for other planets — Moon rises when Moon's longitude equals Lagna's longitude." — PVR

2. Perform as soon as possible (after 11th or 21st day — after Sutaka ends)
3. If combination shows death within a fortnight: attempt before or immediately after the 11th day
4. When no specific remedy is mentioned in the verse, Mrityunjaya Homa is the universal answer
