🕉️ Class 79 — Divisional Chart Dashas: Marriage, Foreign Travel, Education & Children

A comprehensive case study of Swati Lenin's chart (July 21 1984, Ongole, 7:30 AM) demonstrating how Vimshottari Dasha and Chara Dasha of divisional charts confirm four life events — marriage, foreign travel, academic degree, and pending childbirth — while establishing a critical correction: Chara Dasha compressed in divisional charts does NOT work reliably; only Vimshottari Dasha of divisional charts (using that chart's Moon Nakshatra) works consistently.

Date July 21, 1984
Place Ongole, India
Time 7:30 AM (rectified)
Gender Female

Known Life Events

Event Date
Marriage August 26, 2007

Completed MCA (Master of Computer Applications) Mid-2008 (~June 2008)
Childbirth (expected) ~August–September 2011

[!NOTE] MCA (Master of Computer Applications) is a three-to-four year post-graduation degree, not the same as an MS degree in Western terms. The chart question "when will she have children?" was the primary consultation topic; the other events serve as verification anchors for chart rectification.

⚙️ Dasha Settings — Surya Siddhanta & Tithi Years {#dasha-settings}

[!IMPORTANT] For all Nakshatra Dashas (Vimshottari, etc.), use "Year with 360 Tithis" (360 tithi = ~354-day solar year). This is set in JHora under "Definition of year in Dasas → Year with 360 Tithis → Apply to all Nakshatra Dashas."

Why 360-Tithi Years?

Three justifications the teacher offers:

  1. Experimental: Works noticeably better for people 30–45 years old, where the ~10-day/year difference from the solar year accumulates to ~1 year over a lifetime.
  2. Scriptural — Mandala Upanishad: Maximum lifespan in Kali Yuga stated as ~116 years. Applying 120-year Vimshottari maximum in 354-day years equals that 116-year figure in standard solar years.
  3. Mahabharata — Pandava vanavasa: Yudhishthira, Bhishma, and Krishna argued that exile was complete using 360-tithi counting, while Duryodhana used solar years. Islamic calendar likewise uses 360-tithi years.

[!TIP] For Rasi Dashas (Chara Dasha, Narayana Dasha), the teacher does not have a recommendation on using the tithi year option. Leave Rasi Dasha settings unchanged. Only Nakshatra Dashas need this.

Tajaka Settings

For Tajaka charts, apply the "360-tithi" setting to all Nakshatra Dashas. Rasi Dashas in Tajaka: no recommendation — do not change.

Vimshottari Dasha: Jupiter MD, Saturn AD {#d9-vimshottari}

Marriage date: August 26, 2007

From the D-9 (Navamsa) Vimshottari Dasha (using D-9 Moon Nakshatra, Surya Siddhanta, 360-tithi years):

Running period: Jupiter Mahadasha, Saturn Antardasha

Why Jupiter and Saturn are top marriage candidates from D-9

Planet D-9 Role Why Marriage?
Jupiter 5th lord + 8th lord; in Lagna Rajayoga in Lagna with Sun; functional benefic
Saturn 7th lord Placed in 7th house — lord in own house, very powerful for marriage
Sun Darakaraka (significator of spouse) + Lagna lord in Lagna Strong in chart; part of Rajayoga with Jupiter

[!IMPORTANT] Key pedagogical rule: Even if a planet is not a functional benefic from Lagna, if it is the lord of the house of interest (e.g., 7th) and is placed in or aspecting that house, it will give results related to that house. Saturn here is a functional malefic by strict Parasara rules (for most ascendants), yet gives marriage because it owns and occupies the 7th house.

Strongest marriage candidates in D-9 (ranked):

  1. Saturn — 7th lord in 7th house (most direct)
  2. Jupiter — 5th lord Rajayoga in Lagna
  3. Sun — Darakaraka + Lagna lord

The Antardasha is the primary determinant; Mahadasha must be conducive but the Antardasha lord gives the event.

Chara Dasha: Scorpio Dasha {#d9-chara}

From the D-9 Chara Dasha (using the natal D-9 chart):

Scorpio Dasha → Marriage August 26, 2007

Why Scorpio Dasha gives marriage:

Four-pronged verification of Scorpio Dasha → Marriage:
1. NATAL ANALYSIS of Scorpio sign:
   → Lagna lord (Mars) and 7th lord (Venus/another planet) have Parivartana (sign exchange)
   → Venus (Karaka of marriage) is in the Scorpio sign area
   → Strong indication of marriage when Lagna lord and 7th lord exchange
2. YOGA FROM DASHA SIGN AS LAGNA:
   → Taking Scorpio as temporary Lagna, check yogas in natal D-9
3. TRANSIT at event time from Dasha sign (Scorpio):
   → Lagna lord Mars transiting in 7th from Scorpio (in Taurus)
   → Jupiter transiting in Scorpio itself
   → Both very conducive: Lagna lord in 7th + Kendra lord in Lagna sign
4. TRANSIT at Dasha start from Dasha sign

Tajaka Navamsa 2007: Mercury–Ketu Period {#d9-tajaka}

The 2007 Tajaka (annual solar return) Navamsa chart with compressed Vimshottari Dasha using the Tajaka chart's own Moon Nakshatra (= Anuradha → Saturn Dasha first):

Running period when marriage occurred: Mercury Mahadasha, Ketu Antardasha

Factor Analysis
Mercury role 7th lord in Tajaka Navamsa
Ketu placement In 7th house of Tajaka Navamsa
Result 7th lord's period + 7th house planet's sub-period = marriage ✓
Other planets Venus (3rd + 8th lord) in 2nd house — not a marriage candidate
Saturn 11th + 12th lord in 2nd house — not a marriage candidate

[!NOTE] Mercury–Mercury Antardasha also qualifies; Mercury–Ketu and Mercury–Mercury are the only valid periods. Mercury–Venus and Mercury–Saturn do NOT give marriage in this chart because Venus and Saturn are not connected to the 7th house (Venus = 3rd+8th lord in 2nd; Saturn = 11th+12th lord in 2nd).

Rahu/Ketu status in this Tajaka Navamsa: Neutral to benefic. Ketu in Lagna with benefic planets = neutral; does not cause typical Rahu/Ketu disruptions to marriage matters here.

Rectification via Tajaka Window {#d9-rectification}

Using the 2007 Tajaka D-9 Lagna shift: ±4 minutes (3 min 54 sec earlier; 9 min 45 sec later → practical window ~±4 min).

Period Marriage?
Mercury–Mercury Yes (Mercury = 7th lord)
Mercury–Ketu Yes (Ketu in 7th)
Mercury–Venus No (Venus = 3rd+8th, in 2nd)
Mercury–Saturn No (Saturn = 11th+12th, in 2nd)

One can further narrow the birth time by finding the exact window where the Dasha transitions from Mercury–Mercury or Mercury–Ketu to the adjacent period. The birth time is constrained to within ~2 minutes.

⚠️ Chara Dasha — Critical Correction {#chara-correction}

Chara Dasha in Divisional Charts: Ignore for Now {#ignore-chara-divisional}

[!WARNING] CRITICAL FINDING (Class 79 Correction): Chara Dasha compressed into divisional charts (i.e., calculating Chara Dasha using the divisional chart's own Lagna positions) does NOT work consistently. The teacher tested multiple approaches and found only noise — no reliable signals.

Current recommendation: Ignore Chara Dasha in divisional charts.

  • ✅ Use Vimshottari Dasha of divisional charts (using that chart's Moon Nakshatra) — works well
  • ✅ Use plain Chara Dasha from the Rasi chart together with divisional chart analysis
  • ❌ Do NOT use Chara Dasha compressed into divisional charts

This corrects the Class 77 announcement that Chara Dasha of divisional charts was a breakthrough research finding. The plain Chara Dasha (from the Rasi/natal chart) remains valid and useful.

Why the confusion arose

The teacher had initially seen promising results in a few cases using Chara Dasha of divisional charts. After testing across multiple charts, those results turned out to be coincidental. Without systematic confirmation, the technique should not be used in practice.

Tajaka + Chara Dasha

[!NOTE] Chara Dasha in Tajaka charts is also unreliable. Teacher's words: "That's just an academic exercise." For Tajaka analysis, use:

  • Tajaka Vimshottari Dasha (using Tajaka chart's own Moon Nakshatra)
  • Tajaka Lagna chart combinations Do not apply Chara Dasha to Tajaka charts.

How to Use Chara Dasha Correctly {#chara-methodology}

The correct four-step method (from the Rasi/natal chart Chara Dasha, applied to any divisional chart question):

flowchart LR
    A["Step 1\nAnalyze natal Dasha sign\n(what's in it, yogas there)"] --> B
    B["Step 2\nTake Dasha sign as Lagna\n(read yogas in natal chart from it)"] --> C
    C["Step 3\nCheck Rasi transits at event\ntime from Dasha sign"] --> D
    D["Step 4\nCheck Rasi transits at\nDasha start from Dasha sign"]

If all four agree → strong confirmation. If Chara Dasha shows interesting combinations natally AND transit confirms → high confidence.

Chara Dasha Antardasha: Do Not Use

[!WARNING] Chara Dasha Antardasha shown in JHora software is not reliable. The teacher says: "Don't waste time looking at the Antardasha and somehow making sense of it. It'll eventually make sense. So I don't use Antardasha myself." Use only the main Mahadasha sign.

Chara Dasha Calculation Variations

Parasara's Chara Dasha rules (as cited):

  1. If one lord is already in the sign, take the other
  2. Count planets there
  3. Exaltation/debilitation of those planets
  4. Inherent sign strength (mobile > dual > fixed in certain contexts)
  5. Number of years (whichever gives more years)

JHora's current implementation uses the Narayana Dasha rules (taught by Sanjay Rath), which match Parasara in most cases. In difficult cases — especially if Scorpio or Aquarius Dasha has already occurred in life — the alternate lordship (Ketu for Scorpio, Rahu for Aquarius) may give a better result. Experiment when the default calculation doesn't fit.

✈️ Chaturvimsamsa (D-4) — Foreign Travel Dec 22 2007 {#d4-travel}

Note: "D-4" here = the chart for fixed property / dwellings / foreign residence (Chaturvimsamsa). Going abroad to live with husband = D-4 domain.

Vimshottari Dasha: Rahu–Rahu (9th Lord) {#d4-vimshottari}

Event: December 22, 2007 — moved to USA

D-4 Vimshottari Dasha running: Rahu Mahadasha, Rahu Antardasha

Factor Analysis
Rahu's role in D-4 9th lord (in 3rd house of travel, aspecting 9th house)
Why auspicious Lord of a house aspecting its own house = always auspicious
9th house + 12th house 9th = bhagya, long journeys; 12th = foreign lands
Antardasha confirms Rahu's own Antardasha gives Rahu's own 9th-house results

Backward rectification error ≤ 8 min 41 sec; forward error ≤ 22 min. Rahu Rahu matching this event gives confidence in the rectified time.

Chara Dasha: Pisces Dasha {#d4-chara}

D-4 Chara Dasha running at December 22, 2007: Pisces Dasha

Why Pisces Dasha gives foreign travel:

Factor Analysis
Contents of Pisces Jupiter (Bhadhrakala) present in Pisces
Who aspects Pisces? Saturn (3rd aspect) = 9th lord (+ 12th lord Venus's co-lord)
Taking Pisces as Lagna 12th house from Pisces = Aquarius; 9th lord Saturn is in 12th from Pisces → 9th lord placed in 12th = potential for going abroad
Transit from Pisces (Dec 22) Rahu transiting 12th from Pisces (Aquarius); Saturn (another 12th co-lord) aspecting Aquarius; Saturn with Ketu = 9th lords (both 9th and 12th lord axis active on the 12th house)
flowchart TD

    A & B & C --> D["Foreign travel Dec 22 2007 ✓"]

[!NOTE] Chara Dasha Antardasha is shown in software but is unreliable. Do not analyze it. Focus on the Mahadasha sign (Pisces) only.

Tajaka D-4 2007: Mriga Dasha {#d4-tajaka}

2007 Tajaka D-4 compressed Vimshottari Dasha: Mriga (Mrigashira) Dasha gave foreign travel.

Factor Analysis
Mriga's role Bhaga lord (Mrigashira = lord of fortune/destination) in Lagna
Position Bhaga lord in Lagna = strong for the year's Tajaka
9th house in 2007 Tajaka D-4 Contains Rahu with two malefics; Rahu = Karaka for foreign

The 7th lord in Lagna (going with husband) + Bhaga lord in Lagna + 9th house with Rahu confirm this year as the year of foreign travel with spouse.

🎓 Siddhamsa (D-24) — MCA Degree Mid-2008 {#d24-education}

Rectification: Pisces Lagna Selected {#d24-rectification}

D-24 Lagna options within the rectification window (one minute 39 seconds forward from birth time of ~7:30 AM):

D-24 Lagna Rahu Nature Moon Nature Works?
Capricorn Malefic (with Mars, 4th+11th lord) Malefic (7th lord) No — both dark
Aquarius Malefic (Lagna lord; 3rd+10th in 3rd with Ketu) Malefic (6th lord in 12th, Viparita) No — both malefic/weak
Pisces Benefic (9th lord Mars's company; 2nd+9th lord Mars = great benefic for Pisces) Benefic (5th lord aspecting 5th house) Yes ✓

[!IMPORTANT] Why Mars is the biggest benefic for Pisces Lagna (confirmed from Class 75): For Pisces Lagna, Jupiter owns the 1st and 10th houses — Kendrādhipatya dosha reduces Jupiter's beneficence. Mars owns the 2nd and 9th houses — 9th lordship makes Mars the most powerful functional benefic. Rahu in company of Mars (benefic) = Rahu becomes benefic by association. Ketu with Rahu = also benefic. Moon as 5th lord = benefic.

Rectified time: approximately 7:31:45 AM (original 7:30 AM + ~1 min 45 sec)

Vimshottari Dasha: Rahu MD, Moon AD {#d24-vimshottari}

Event: June 2008 — MCA degree awarded D-24 Vimshottari Dasha (Pisces Lagna, 360-tithi years): Rahu Mahadasha, Moon Antardasha (Moon Antardasha began ~January 2008)

Planet Pisces D-24 Role Why Education?
Rahu With Mars (2nd+9th lord = biggest benefic) in 2nd house Behaves like Mars; 9th house results (higher education)
Moon 5th lord Owns 5th house AND aspects 5th house → gives 5th-house results (learning, certification)

[!TIP] Fundamental rule for Dasha quality: Parashara does not specify "bachelor's degree = 9th house, master's = 2nd house" and so on. The basic rule stands: if something important and positive happened in education during a Dasha, that Dasha lord must be a functional benefic. Work from this principle rather than trying to assign house meanings to degree types.

The Antardasha (Moon = 5th lord aspecting 5th) is the primary determinant here — Moon gives the certification of learning. The Mahadasha (Rahu = behaving as Mars, the 9th lord) provides the conducive background (higher educational environment).

Why Pisces Lagna Works (vs. Aquarius or Capricorn) {#d24-analysis}

For Aquarius Lagna (the original time):

  • Rahu Mahadasha: Rahu with Ketu (10th lord, malefic) and Mars (4th+11th = malefic) → functional malefic
  • Moon Antardasha: 6th lord in 12th → Viparita Rajayoga (a weaker form of beneficence) — not a great period for education

For Capricorn Lagna (slightly earlier time):

  • Rahu Mahadasha: with Mars (4th+11th = malefic) → malefic
  • Moon Antardasha: 7th lord in Lagna → neutral; not clearly conducive to education

Only Pisces Lagna makes both Rahu and Moon functional benefics, validating the positive event of getting the degree.

[!NOTE] Getting a degree is a certification of learning — even if the learning is complete, the social/professional recognition requires a certificate. Thus it is always a positive event that must correlate with a positive Dasha–Antardasha pair.

👶 Saptamsa (D-7) — Children Question {#d7-children}

D-7 Lagna leeway: 4.5 minutes forward, 13 minutes backward → chart is mostly reliable.

D-7 Natal Chart Analysis {#d7-natal}

D-7 Lagna: Leo

Planet D-7 Functional Nature (Leo Lagna) Placement Assessment
Sun Lagna lord 7th house (kendra); neutral sign (Saturn's sign with temp-friend Saturn nearby); aspects Lagna Well-placed Lagna lord; blesses Lagna
Jupiter 5th lord + 8th lord 8th house (own sign) Clear benefic (5th=benefic; 8th=non-committal, no company)
Mars Yogakaraka (9th lord) Moolatrikona with Venus (10th lord) Biggest benefic; Dharmakarmadhipati Yoga with Venus (though Venus is malefic, Mars dominates in own sign)
Saturn 6th lord + 7th lord 6th house Malefic overall; but malefic in dussthana = well-placed
Venus 3rd lord + 10th lord (malefic) With Mars in Moolatrikona Main spoiler; afflicts Yogakaraka Mars
Mrityu (Mandi) 12th house Functional malefic, well-placed in 12th

Overall D-7 assessment: Strong chart. Functional malefics (Saturn, Venus, Mandi) are placed in bad houses (6th, Moolatrikona with Mars = diluted, 12th). Functional benefics (Sun, Jupiter, Mars) are strong. Main spoiler: Venus afflicting Mars.

[!TIP] For judging children specifically: the 5th house and its lord are primary. Jupiter (5th lord) in own sign + Mars (Yogakaraka) aspecting 5th house = powerful combination for children.

Vimshottari Dasha: Jupiter MD is Key {#d7-vimshottari}

D-7 Vimshottari Dasha timeline:

Period Planets Children potential
Current Rahu MD Rahu = badly placed malefic; not connected to children; no
Next Jupiter MD (from ~April 2011) Jupiter = 5th lord in own sign; YES — powerful

[!IMPORTANT] Jupiter MD, Jupiter AD is the strongest candidate for childbirth. Jupiter is the 5th lord in own sign aspecting (and owning) the 5th house. The Antardasha is the main determinant — Jupiter–Jupiter is when the most powerful chance exists.

Window: April 2011 onward, within approximately 2 years → strong probability before May 2013.

Chara Dasha: Capricorn Dasha {#d7-chara}

D-7 Chara Dasha running: Capricorn Dasha (extends through ~2020)

Does Capricorn Dasha give children?

Direct connection to 5th house: Not obvious. But:

Factor Analysis
Lagna lord in Dasha sign Saturn (Capricorn lord) is in Capricorn → lord in own sign = positive for Dasha
5th house from Capricorn Contains Moon (exalted) → exalted planet in 5th = strong blessing for children
Taking Capricorn as Lagna Mercury (6th+9th lord) aspects from 3rd = neutral aspect
Conclusion Not a crystal-clear case, but has indicators; supportive rather than primary

[!NOTE] The teacher cautions that Chara Dasha of divisional charts (compressed Chara Dasha) is unreliable. This Capricorn Dasha analysis is from the natal Rasi chart Chara Dasha taken as a reference, not from a compressed D-7 Chara Dasha. The same caution applies.

Transit Triggers for Childbirth {#d7-transits}

Taking Capricorn as Dasha sign (Chara Dasha sign), at the time of childbirth:

Transit Planet Condition for Childbirth Why
Saturn In Libra (exaltation) Dasha sign lord in exaltation during transit = classic Parasara indicator for auspicious Dasha results
Rahu Aspecting 5th from Capricorn Rahu = benefic in natal D-7 (in Capricorn sign); if aspecting 5th, gives children
Jupiter In Taurus (5th from Capricorn) Karaka in 5th house = very auspicious
Venus In Taurus, Libra, Pisces, Cancer, or Capricorn 5th lord from Capricorn (Yogakaraka) in good position

[!TIP] Dasha sign lord rule: When the Chara Dasha sign lord transits in its own sign OR exaltation sign, good events related to that Dasha can manifest. Here: Saturn in Libra (exaltation) during the Capricorn Dasha transit = powerful trigger.

Probable alignment: Saturn in Libra + Jupiter in Taurus + Venus well-placed = a confluence window for childbirth. Saturn entered Libra in late 2011, which aligns with the expected delivery window.

Tajaka D-7 2010 vs 2011 {#d7-tajaka}

Two annual Tajaka D-7 charts analyzed:

Tajaka D-7 2011 (birthday July 21, 2011 — but event may be pre-birthday)

Planet Position Assessment
Jupiter Lagna (exalted) 9th lord exalted = neutral-to-positive; Karaka of children present
Mercury Lagna Clear malefic (6th+3rd lord); spoils Lagna somewhat
Sun 8th house (Lagna lord) Benefic but poorly placed; not conducive to childbirth
Moon 8th house (in Mandi Karaka Sthana) Lagna lord weak; inimical sign + Mandi affliction
Saturn 12th house Neutral/slightly benefic; well-placed in 12th
Venus 6th house Malefic in dussthana = acceptable placement
Rahu 5th house Benefic (no company, kona placement); dispositor Mars aspects 5th

Strongest factor: Rahu in 5th (kona), dispositor Mars aspecting 5th and owning 5th (Mars = Yogakaraka). If D-7 Vimshottari Dasha during April–May 2012 shows Mars Dasha: powerful indicator.

Tajaka D-7 2010 (stronger chart — pre-birthday year)

[!IMPORTANT] The 2010 Tajaka D-7 chart is actually stronger for childbirth than 2011:

  • Lagna lord Mars in 5th house (children's house)
  • 5th lord Jupiter in Lagna
  • These two exchange — Parivartana Yoga between Lagna lord and 5th lord = extremely powerful
  • 9th lord in 11th house (good placement)
  • D-7 Vimshottari Dasha of Jupiter starts in April 2011

Revised forecast: Given that the person was already 3 months pregnant in February 2011, the delivery was expected around August 2011 — before the July 21 2011 birthday. This means the 2010 Tajaka D-7 chart (in effect until July 21 2011) governs the delivery. That chart's Parivartana of Lagna lord and 5th lord is a profoundly powerful combination.

timeline

        April 2011 : Jupiter Vimshottari MD begins in natal D-7
        July 2011 : Expected delivery window (6 months from Feb 2011 estimate)
        August 2011 : Most likely delivery month (Saturn in Virgo → 9th from Capricorn Dasha sign; Rahu in Sagittarius → 12th; Jupiter approaching favorable transit)

Child's Gender Prediction {#d7-gender}

Based on natal Rasi chart (reverting to basic rules):

Factor Indicates
Lagna sign (Leo) Male sign → first child issues from Sagittarius (5th from Leo)
Sagittarius lord (Jupiter) Alone in Pisces — no company
Pisces Male sign
Jupiter Male planet
Combined Likely male child

[!NOTE] The teacher acknowledges these gender prediction rules "need to be re-evaluated." The above is based on traditional rules as taught; they may not always be reliable.

🔢 360-Tithi Year Explanation {#tithi-years}

Year Type Days/Year Impact at Age 35
Sidereal/Solar ~365.25 Baseline
360 Tithi ~354 ~11 days/year earlier → ~1 year shift by age 35

The 354-day year accumulates roughly 10 days per year of shortfall vs. the solar year. Over 30–45 years of life, this translates to roughly a 0.5–1 year difference in Dasha periods — which is significant for timing predictions.

Setting: JHora → Dasha preferences → Definition of year → "Year with 360 Tithis" → Apply to all Nakshatra Dashas.

🧮 Chara Dasha Calculation Notes {#chara-calc}

Parasara's stated rules for Chara Dasha calculation (ascending priority):

  1. If one of the sign's lords is already in that sign → use the other lord
  2. Count planets in the sign
  3. Exaltation/debilitation of planets there (Parasara: exaltation makes stronger; by extension, debilitation makes weaker)
  4. Inherent strength of the sign type (mobile > fixed > dual in some contexts)
  5. Number of Dasha years (whichever lord grants more years)

JHora implementation: Based on Narayana Dasha rules (Sanjay Rath's teaching), which match Parasara in most cases. In edge cases (especially when Scorpio/Aquarius Dasha has been active), alternate lordship may give better results.

Verification method: Use both natal analysis AND transit analysis from the Dasha sign. If a different calculation gives a Dasha sign that fits both criteria better (e.g., Libra instead of Pisces where Libra shows no interesting yogas), the original calculation is likely correct.

[!TIP] When to experiment with Chara Dasha calculation: Only when the default doesn't line up with known events AND if Scorpio or Aquarius Dasha has already passed in life (changing their lordship changes the Dasha year counts).

🙏 Remedies {#remedies}

For childbirth (based on D-7 Saptamsa):

Deity Why
Sai Baba Jupiter as 5th lord (running Dasha); benefic Guru energy
Dakshinamurthy Shiva as teacher/Guru; Jupiter Dasha for learning and creation
Shiva Universal remedy for childbirth and Jupiter's grace

Worship during Jupiter Mahadasha (from April 2011 onward) is specifically recommended.
