Planets — Batch 9 (classes 81–90)
class-83 | Saturn
Key attributes emphasized in this batch:
- Universal karaka for disease and suffering.

- Saturn as 2nd lord: Maraka (killer planet).
- Saturn as 3rd lord in 3rd house: Actually hurts that sign (Saturn weakens what he occupies, even his own sign).
- Saturn and Ketu together in any house: destroy the results of that house.
- Saturn-Rahu-Ketu on the Moon axis: terrible for mental health and mother's well-being.
- Saturn in own sign: The only planet that weakens the sign it occupies even when in own sign.
Functional nature examples:

- As Lagna lord in Navamsa: functional benefic (full Argala results for marriage).
- As 2nd lord generally: neutral (Maraka potential but not immediately malefic).
Argala: When Saturn causes Argala on the 9th house as a functional malefic, he gives half results of fortune.

- When Rahu is in the 2nd house from a target, he causes Badha even though the 2nd is normally an Argala position.
- Rahu with other planets: Rahu does not add their Argala — he subtracts from it (Badha effect reduces the count).
- Parashara: "Tamo grahach ya teyathmi" — the dark planets' rule is reversed.
- If Rahu is weak/nirbala (e.g., in Leo with many powerful planets dominating), his Badha may not fully cancel the Argala ("nirbala sankhya" — don't count the weak).
Functional: In Scorpio lagna (from example), Rahu as 6th lord = functional malefic.

- Venus-Mercury-Saturn in Cancer (transit): excellent Muhurta combination for Tula lagna (all trine lords in 10th house).
- Venus as Lagna lord in disability chart: being a functional benefic (Lagna lord), Venus Dasha brings relief even though Venus is also 8th lord.
- Argala on Venus in Navamsa: 2 planets remaining after cancellations = Madhyama results — can give marriage in their Antardasha.

v2 Batch 4 — Classes 31–40
Planets — Batch 4 (classes 31–40)
Planet 31.1 — Jupiter: Teaching, Wisdom, and Children
- Source: class-33, class-34, class-37, class-38, class-39, class-40
- Key teachings this batch:
- As karaka of 5H: "Strong Jupiter aspecting the fifth house can mitigate even 5L in 6H" (class-33). Jupiter's aspect on the fifth is the primary factor in whether children come despite unfavorable 5L placement.
- Digbala in 1H: Jupiter has maximum directional strength in the first house. When Jupiter is in Lagna, it is at peak wisdom, dignity, and teaching energy.
- As 9L in mundane: India 2009 — Jupiter in 5H from Lagna in Navamsa = Gaja Kesari Yoga = divine protector of the nation despite political turbulence (class-40).
- Debilitated Jupiter in 8H (US 2009): Jupiter debilitated in Capricorn, with Rahu in 8H of the Lunar New Year chart = optimism consumed by hidden crisis; Kandaka Saptamsa placement = Jupiter's Dasha period (Dec–Feb) predicted to be particularly problematic (class-40).
- For females: Jupiter is the karaka of the husband. 7L placement and Jupiter's condition together indicate husband's nature and quality of marriage.
Planet 31.2 — Venus: Marriage, Comfort, and the VE7 Foundation
- Source: class-34, class-37, class-39
- Key teachings this batch:
- Primary karaka of marriage (for males): Venus is the foundation of the VE7 Special Lagna technique because Venus is the karaka of the seventh house (marriage). Speed factor 7 connects Venus's signification to the seventh house numerically.
- Digbala: Venus has Digbala in 4H (some traditions) or 7H — both houses of comfort and partnership.
- VE7 technique: Venus × 7 creates a special Lagna. The 7th from VE7 must connect to natal Lagna in the marriage Dasha/Antardasha.
- In Muhurta checklist: Venus's natural karaka connection to comfort and pleasure means a clean seventh house (Saptama Shuddhi) in the Muhurta protects the longevity and quality of partnerships initiated under that Muhurta.
- In US 2009 Lunar New Year: Venus afflicted by Amavasya Yoga (Sun-Moon conjunction in 10H) = trouble for pleasant relations, diplomacy, and arts in the US during 2009.
Planet 31.3 — Saturn: Discipline, Longevity, and Neechabhanga Achievement
- Source: class-34, class-35, class-36, class-39, class-40
- Key teachings this batch:
- Neechabhanga example (PVR's chart): Saturn as 5L in Aries (debilitated) with Neechabhanga. Saturn Dasha gave PVR: rank in IIT entrance, two BA gold medals in Sanskrit, first in the state. "Saturn can give [the Raja Yoga] because Saturn is the one who has Neechabhanga Raja Yoga."
- Digbala in 7H: Saturn is most powerful in the seventh house — longevity of partnerships, slow but certain results.
- As chronic disease karaka: Saturn in 6H or aspecting the Lagna from a dusthana = chronic, long-term health issues (not acute like Mars).
- VE7 marriage example (class-39): Saturn Antardasha with Saturn in Virgo (same sign as VE7) linked the 7th from VE7 (Pisces) to the Lagna through dispositorship — Saturn's role in confirming the marriage timing.
- Vata association: Saturn rules Vata dosha. Saturn prominent in chart or strongly aspecting Lagna = Vata constitution (thin, nervous, disciplined/anxious).
Planet 31.4 — Mars: Energy, Surgery, and Hora Leadership
- Source: class-31, class-35, class-36, class-40
- Key teachings this batch:
- Digbala in 10H: Mars in 10H (karma house) has maximum directional strength — energetic, driven, competitive career orientation.
- Acute disease karaka: Mars represents acute inflammations, fevers, surgical interventions. Distinguished from Saturn (chronic) — Mars is the sudden, sharp, cutting disease energy.
- As land karaka: Mars rules immovable property (land, real estate) in addition to courage and siblings.
- India 2009 hora lord: Mars as hora lord for India's Lunar New Year chart predicts a combative, militaristic, aggressive year with contested elections. "Mars is hora lord — more of the military, enemy, competitor energy comes out." Predicted hung parliament and aggressive electoral combat (class-40).
- 6L as Mars energy: When the sixth lord is Mars, the enemy/disease energy is acute, impulsive, and potentially surgical in nature.
Planet 31.5 — Mercury: Intelligence, Communication, and Debilitation
- Source: class-34, class-39, class-40
- Key teachings this batch:
- Digbala in 1H: Mercury has maximum directional strength in the first house — skilled communication, analytical ability, and adaptability from Lagna.
- In VE7 marriage example (class-39): Mercury as Dasha lord at time of marriage. Mercury in Lagna aspects Jupiter (lord of Pisces = 7th from VE7). Mercury's aspect on Jupiter connects the natal Lagna to the 7th from VE7, confirming marriage under Mercury Dasha.
- Iran 2009 Lagna lord: Mercury (Virgo rising) is in the 7th house debilitated in Pisces. This triggers Satabdi Dasha for Iran's 2009 chart. Mercury's debilitation suggests weakened national intelligence, communication, and economic management.
- US 2009 Lagna lord: Mercury rules Gemini Lagna of the US 2009 Lunar New Year chart. Mercury is afflicted by Amavasya Yoga (conjunct Sun-Moon in 10H) = government's decision-making capacity troubled.
Planet 31.6 — Moon: Mind, Public, and Hora Lordship
- Source: class-31, class-40
- Key teachings this batch:
- Digbala in 4H: Moon is most powerful in the fourth house — home, contentment, mental peace.
- As karaka of masses: In mundane charts, Moon represents the masses and public sentiment. Moon as hora lord for US 2009 = the year is shaped by mass emotional reactions, public mood swings, and populist energy.
- Kala Amrita Yoga (class-31): In Asha's chart, Moon's placement indicates the mind is caught in the Rahu-Ketu axis. The trapped mind is unable to find peace because all planetary energies (including Moon's mental peace energy) are consumed by the nodal serpent.
- Amavasya connection: Moon conjunct Sun = Amavasya Yoga. In the Lunar New Year chart, this is always in a specific house. Moon's house position in Amavasya = that house's matters are emotionally troubled for the public.
Planet 31.7 — Sun: Authority, Government, and Soul
- Source: class-35, class-40
- Key teachings this batch:
- Digbala in 10H: Sun has maximum directional strength in the tenth house — leadership, government, public authority, soul's karma expression.
- Natural karaka of government: In mundane charts, Sun represents the king/government/ruling authority. Sun afflicted in 10H of the Lunar New Year chart = government authority weakened or troubled.
- Amavasya with Moon (class-40): Sun conjunct Moon in 10H of US 2009 chart = both the government (Sun) and the masses (Moon) are afflicted simultaneously. "Sun afflicts the ruling party; Moon shows the people are also troubled." Both Sun and Moon in Kandaka Saptamsa = their Dasha period is the worst for the year.
- As Atmakaraka: Sun naturally represents the soul's purpose. When Sun is strong, the person acts with clear identity and authority. When Sun is in a dusthana, the soul's expression is blocked.
Planet 31.8 — Rahu: Amplification, Foreign, and the Nodal Serpent
- Source: class-31, class-36, class-40
- Key teachings this batch:
- Kala Amrita Yoga control (class-31): In Asha's chart, Rahu is the "mouth" of the cosmic serpent. All planets are on Rahu's side. Rahu Dasha delivers concentrated, compressed karmic events — in this case, polio.
- Amplification of whatever it joins: Rahu amplifies the significations of whatever planet it conjuncts or the house it is in. Rahu with Jupiter in 8H (US 2009) = inflated sense of crisis, expanded hidden debt.
- Remedy approach: Rahu homam + Durga worship was prescribed to counteract Rahu's dominance in Asha's chart (class-31).
- In mundane: Rahu in 8H of a Lunar New Year chart indicates hidden enemies, secret destabilization, and unexpected crises for the nation.
Planet 31.9 — Ketu: Past Karma, Liberation, and Mysterious Ailments
- Source: class-31, class-35
- Key teachings this batch:
- Past-life karaka: Ketu represents accumulated past-life knowledge and karma. Strong Ketu can give inherent skills and spiritual abilities without apparent learning.
- Liberation signifier: Ketu rules moksha and detachment. The twelfth house and Ketu together indicate the direction of spiritual liberation.
- Mysterious ailments: Ketu in the first house or sixth house can produce ailments that are difficult to diagnose (mysterious, neurological, or karmic in nature). In Asha's chart, the Ketu connection to the physical affliction (polio) is the "tail" of the serpent — the release point where karma exits.
- Remedial significance (class-31): The Rahu-Ketu axis in Kala Amrita Yoga must be addressed through Rahu and Ketu-specific worship. Ketu's tail is the exit point — strengthening spiritual practices (Ketu's domain) helps release the karmic knot.

v2 Batch 8 — Classes 71–80
Planets — Batch 8 (v71–v80)
Master sheet capturing planetary significations and personifications taught in this batch.
Sun (Ravi / Surya / Divakara / Arka / Bhaskara / Ansumat)
- Personification: The soul (Atman) within you; the divine light guiding the body to work hard, pay karmic debts, and ultimately be liberated.
- Key quality: The soul is in the body to work and be freed—NOT to relax. Hence 8th-house (tapasya) ownership is not malefic for Sun.
- Functional nature by lagna (from this batch):
- Aries: Benefic (5th lord)
- Taurus: Benefic (4th lord)
- Gemini: Malefic (3rd lord)
- Cancer: Results by sahacharya (2nd lord)
- Leo: Benefic (1st lord—lagna lord)
- Virgo: Results by sahacharya (12th lord)
- Libra: Malefic (11th lord)
- Scorpio: Neutral (10th lord—natural malefic owning kendra)
- Sagittarius: Clear benefic (9th lord)
- Capricorn: Neutral (8th lord—samakatvam)
- Aquarius: Malefic (6th lord)
- Pisces: Malefic (6th lord, enemy of Jupiter)
- Digbala: 10th house
- Karaka for: Authority, father, soul, government, recognition, 10th house significations
- Remedy focus: Aditya Hridayam (highly recommended by PVR); "Om Ghrinisurya Aditya Om"; "Om Soom Suryaya Namah"; Manu's Astakshara mantra "Om Bhuh Svaha Suryah Aditya"
- Note: Ghrini = "one who is radiant and burns." Correct pronunciation: Ghrinisurya (not Ghreni or Ghruni).
Moon (Chandra / Indu / Shashi / Soma / Nishakara)
- Personification: The mind (manas); the consciousness; the window through which the soul perceives the world. Minister of the soul (Sun).
- Key quality: Mind is not inherently in the world to work hard, but to serve the soul's agenda. However, when Moon owns the house of desires (7th), it amplifies attachment and is therefore malefic.
- Natural benefic when: Shukla paksha (waxing, approaching full moon)
- Natural malefic when: Krishna paksha (waning, after full moon)
- Functional nature by lagna (from this batch):
- Aries: Benefic (depends on paksha + association; not specifically listed as benefic/malefic)
- Taurus: Malefic (3rd lord)
- Gemini: Main maraka (2nd lord)
- Cancer: Benefic (1st lord—lagna lord)
- Leo: Results by sahacharya
- Virgo: Malefic (11th lord)
- Libra: Neutral (10th lord)
- Scorpio: Benefic (9th lord)
- Sagittarius: Not mentioned specifically
- Capricorn: Malefic (7th lord—karaka for desires owning desire house)
- Aquarius: Malefic (6th lord)
- Pisces: Benefic (5th lord)
- Karaka for: Mind, mother, emotions, 4th house significations, liquid/water
Mars (Kuja / Bhauma / Bhumi-putra / Mangal / Angarak)
- Personification: The initiative, energy, and drive inside you; the spirit of getting things done; enterprise and enterprise; the inner warrior.
- Functional nature by lagna (from this batch):
- Aries: Benefic despite 8th-house ownership (lagna lord + trine exemption)
- Taurus: Malefic (7th lord—maraka; owns kendra as benefic)
- Gemini: Malefic (6th & 11th lord)
- Cancer: Yogakaraka (5th & 10th lord)
- Leo: Benefic (4th & 9th lord)
- Virgo: Malefic but modifiable (3rd & 8th lord)
- Libra: Malefic (2nd & 7th lord—primary maraka)
- Scorpio: Neutral (1st & 6th lord—6th malefic, 1st benefic)
- Sagittarius: Benefic (5th & 12th lord—12th neutral)
- Capricorn: Malefic (4th & 11th lord—11th dominant)
- Aquarius: Malefic (3rd & 10th lord—3rd dominant)
- Pisces: Benefic (2nd & 9th lord—9th dominant, friend of Jupiter)
- Karaka for: Courage, enterprise, surgery, physical strength, fire, siblings, 3rd house significations
- In career: Surgeon indicator (Sun-Mars combination in Dasamsa = surgical career)
- Deity: Hanuman worship propitiates Mars (and also Saturn as a byproduct)
Mercury (Budha / Saumya / Gna / Chandratanaya / Indu-suta)
- Personification: The learning ability; adaptability; intelligence as perception and discrimination about the material world. The mind's interface with learning and communication.
- Key quality: Mercury is highly susceptible to influences (sahacharya). Unlike Jupiter who may not yield to bad associations, Mercury absorbs the nature of whatever planet influences him. Therefore, his results are highly chart-dependent.
- Functional nature by lagna (from this batch):
- Aries: Malefic (3rd & 6th lord—worst malefic for this lagna)
- Taurus: Limited benefic / alpa shubhaprada (2nd & 5th lord—2nd lord modifies 5th's beneficence)
- Gemini: Results by sahacharya (associated yogakaraka if with right planets)
- Cancer: Malefic (3rd & 12th lord)
- Leo: Malefic (2nd & 11th lord)
- Virgo: Benefic (1st & 10th lord)
- Libra: Benefic (9th & 12th lord—9th dominant, friend of lagna lord)
- Scorpio: Malefic (8th & 11th lord—11th dominant)
- Sagittarius: Yogakaraka with Sun (10th lord)
- Capricorn: Benefic (6th & 9th lord—9th dominant + friend of Saturn)
- Aquarius: Neutral/medium (5th & 8th lord—madhya phalas)
- Pisces: Malefic (4th & 7th lord—two kendras + enemy of Jupiter)
- Karaka for: Communication, commerce, accounting, intellect, education, software/computing, 3rd house and 6th house matters
- Special note: Mercury is the most susceptible planet to sahacharya (association effects). Even for Taurus lagna where he's 5th lord, bad associations can make him functionally malefic.
Jupiter (Guru / Jiva / Brihaspati / Ijya / Devendra)
- Personification: The intelligence, discrimination, and conscience within you (buddhi-shakti); the voice saying "this is right, this is wrong"; the teacher of gods who works to strengthen divine qualities.
- Key quality: Jupiter is the karaka for the 9th house (dharma) and 5th house (wisdom). When he owns these houses, he gives their results naturally and powerfully. Even when owning a 6th house, his gentle nature makes the struggles less harsh.
- Functional nature by lagna (from this batch):
- Aries: Benefic (9th & 12th lord—but may be tainted by malefic association via 12th)
- Taurus: Malefic (8th & 11th lord—11th dominant)
- Gemini: Malefic (7th & 10th lord—two kendras, no trikona)
- Cancer: Benefic (6th & 9th lord—9th dominant + karaka for 9th)
- Leo: Benefic (5th & 8th lord—5th dominant)
- Virgo: Malefic (4th & 7th lord—two kendras, no trikona)
- Libra: Malefic (3rd & 6th lord)
- Scorpio: Benefic (2nd & 5th lord—5th dominant)

- Capricorn: Malefic (3rd & 12th lord—3rd dominant)
- Aquarius: Malefic (2nd & 11th lord—11th dominant)
- Pisces: Neutral/slightly benefic (1st & 10th lord—lagna lord)
- Karaka for: Wisdom, dharma, children, husband (in female charts), wealth, spirituality, divine grace
- Deity: Brihaspati / Vishnu; Jupiter's full influence represents the conscience and discrimination
Venus (Shukra / Bharga / Kavi / Sita)
- Personification: The spirit of enjoyment, happiness, and pleasure within you; the teacher of demons who pacifies lower nature through pleasurable experiences. Also the greatest tapasvi (ascetic) among rishis.
- Key quality: Venus keeps the "demons" (lower qualities) within us contented so they don't cause destruction. Even bliss from meditation is a form of Venus energy. Vishnu declares "I am Venus among all Rishis" (Bhagavad Gita).
- Natural benefic: Always a natural benefic (shubha graha).
- Kendra ownership: As the most powerful natural benefic, Venus suffers the most from kendra ownership (his beneficence is most diminished).
- Functional nature by lagna (from this batch):
- Aries: Clear maraka (2nd & 7th lord—owns both maraka houses)
- Taurus: Malefic despite being lagna lord (6th is Moolatrikona, dominates)
- Gemini: Only benefic (5th & 12th lord)

- Sagittarius: Malefic (6th & 11th lord—both malefic houses)
- Capricorn: Yogakaraka (5th & 10th lord—kendra + trikona)
- Aquarius: Yogakaraka (4th & 9th lord—kendra + trikona)
- Pisces: Malefic (3rd & 8th lord—3rd dominant, enemy of Jupiter)
- Karaka for: Marriage (female), beauty, art, luxury, pleasure, music, management, 7th house significations
- Note: Venus is a very unlikely killer for Pisces lagna despite being malefic—because he owns both longevity houses (3rd = vitality, 8th = longevity) and is a natural benefic.
Saturn (Shani / Manda / Sanaishchara / Arkasuta / Mahisuta)
- Personification: The spirit of discipline, patience, hard work, perseverance, and labor within you; the inner taskmaster.
- Key quality: Saturn does not want people to have things easily. "Struggle itself is a blessing" is his philosophy. Therefore, when he's a 9th-house lord, his blessings are less freely given compared to Jupiter's.
- Functional nature by lagna (from this batch):
- Aries: Malefic (10th & 11th lord—11th dominant)
- Taurus: Yogakaraka (9th & 10th lord)
- Gemini: Neutral (8th & 9th lord—mixed, no strong verdict)
- Cancer: Malefic-ish; not specifically mentioned as benefic

- Virgo: Neutral (not mentioned as benefic or malefic)
- Libra: Benefic (4th & 5th lord—5th trikona)
- Scorpio: Malefic (3rd & 4th lord—3rd dominant)
- Sagittarius: Primary maraka (2nd & 3rd lord—both harmful, 2nd is maraka)
- Capricorn: Benefic (1st & 2nd lord—lagna lord; not killer by himself)
- Aquarius: Benefic (1st & 12th lord—lagna lord)
- Pisces: Malefic (11th & 12th lord—11th dominant, enemy of Jupiter)
- Karaka for: Longevity, discipline, agriculture, hard work, servants, old age, 6th and 8th house significations
- Deity: Vishnu Sahasranama propitiates Saturn
Rahu
- Personification: The spirit of breaking barriers, reaching unknown frontiers; breaking norms and boundaries. Also shows cutting-edge technology and spiritual breakthrough via experience.
- Key quality: Rahu declares himself the lord of whatever house he occupies (kabza). His functional nature is determined entirely by house occupied and planetary association—not by nominal sign ownership.
- Spiritual significance: Rahu with Ketu near spiritual houses = actual spiritual experience (breaking the barrier between material and divine), not just book knowledge.
- Functional nature: Determined case by case from house occupied + planets associated.
- Karaka for: Foreign lands, crossing boundaries, technology, unconventional matters, research
Ketu
- Personification: The spirit of detachment, moksha, and renunciation—"I don't need anything now." The inner impulse toward liberation.
- Key quality: Ketu in a Moksha-trikona (4th, 8th, 12th) is conducive to the pursuit of moksha. When Ketu is in a kendra or trikona and associated with the relevant lords, he gives spiritual yogas.
- Functional nature: Determined case by case from house occupied + planets associated. Nominally 9th lord in some systems.
- Special note: Parashara mentions Ketu for moksha specifically; Ketu's influence on the 12th house.
- Karaka for: Liberation, renunciation, south node, detachment, past-life karma, moksha
v2 Batch 9 — Classes 81–90
Planets Master Sheet — Batch 9 (v2, classes 81–90)
This sheet records all significant new insights, rules, and observations about individual planets from classes 81–90, organized by planet.
Sun (Surya)
Role as reference point: In the three-reference system, Sun represents the soul/causal body. Surya Lagna shows the karmic and soul-level purposes behind events.
As Pitra Karaka: Sun afflicted by Ketu in D12 = Pitra Karaka weakened = issues with father. Seen in S Ram's D12 (class-89): Sun with Ketu in Lagna of D12, father divorced and absent.
As medical Karaka: Sun in the 9th house of D24 (Siddhamsa) = medical education. Sun is the primary signifier of healing arts. Multiple examples in classes 89–90 confirmed: Aditya's Taurus D24 Lagna with Sun in 9th house = MBBS medical doctor.
As political power Karaka: A planet that has links to Sun (as Surya Lagna reference) gives power results more completely. Jupiter as Lagna lord aspecting Lagna from Dasamsa, AND being 5th lord from Moon AND Sun = three-reference political power (Romney chart, class-87).
Combustion dominates: When Sun and Mercury are conjunct, Sun dominates and causes combustion — Mercury's qualities are suppressed. The "ninth lord + twelfth lord together" combination in D4 (NMK chart, class-86) — Sun's combustion of Mercury meant Sun's agenda dominated.
Moon (Chandra)
Gandanta Moon: The most significant Moon insight in batch 9. Moon in Gandanta (especially Ashlesha = Sarpa nakshatra = Sarpa Drekkana = Gandanta = triple Sarpa affliction) causes severe problems in the mind's ability to interface with the world. Root cause of autism-spectrum and developmental issues in affected charts.
Moon as Sobhati: When Moon is in Cancer (own sign), it is not only the Manaskaraka but also the dispositor of itself. Doubly important in the chart. Moon's strength (or weakness) is amplified.
Krishna Paksha Moon: Moon in dark fortnight = natural malefic. For Kendra lordship, natural malefics are not functional benefics from that lordship alone (applies to Cancer/Leo Lagna where Moon rules the 4th or 7th/1st). Vivekananda's Moon in D20 was Krishna Paksha = slight functional benefic (not fully malefic because 7th lord, but not as benefic as a natural benefic would be as Kendra lord).
Moon in D30: Moon debilitated in the 8th house of D30 = very serious suffering in the mind/emotions. Cross-checks and amplifies natal Gandanta Moon indication. Pranay's chart (class-89) showed this pattern.
Moon in D27: Moon conjunct Rahu in Rahu's own sign in D27 = weak mind at the subconscious level. Dominant Rahu over Moon = unstable mental constitution instinctively.
Chandra Lagna for dasha conditions: One of the major new insights of class-81. Conditional dasha applicability can be checked from Chandra Lagna as well as natal Lagna. This extended the applicability of Sadaya Dasha in PVR's own chart.
Mars (Mangala)
As Yogakaraka: For Virgo Lagna (D10 of Mudga, class-84), Mars as 8th lord debilitated is "functionally free" — debilitation of a functional malefic is somewhat beneficial. But Mars as Yogakaraka (e.g., for Leo or Cancer Lagna) is an excellent dasha for career. The distinction must always be checked per Lagna and divisional chart.
From Moon in 11th = maximum material gain: Mars in the 11th house from Moon, as Yogakaraka, conjoined with 7th and 9th lords (in Romney's D10 from Moon: Mars + Saturn + Rahu in Gemini = 11th from Moon/Aries) = "awesome" combination for business gain. Mars Dasha in this period = making a financial killing at Bain Capital.
Ucha Drishti: Mars from Pisces (which would be Mars's exaltation sign's trine) gives Ucha Drishti on a sign — an auspicious aspect. PVR mentioned this when Mars was aspecting the 11th house from Lagna with Ucha Drishti in Romney's D10.
Mars as 8th lord in D9: Consistently across multiple charts, Mars as 8th lord in Navamsa creates tension and anxiety in marriage rather than marriage itself. Even partial 7th house connections cannot overcome the primary 8th lord agenda in such cases.
Mercury (Budha)
Logical and analytical: Mercury shows the analytical, logical mind (Buddhi). Distinct from Moon (emotional mind) and Jupiter (discriminative wisdom). In D27, strong Mercury = good learning ability.
Mercury in Sarpa Drekkana: Mercury in Sarpa Drekkana alongside Moon in Sarpa Drekkana = both mind and intellect under serpentine affliction. Compounds the developmental issue.
Exalted Mercury in D24: Exalted Mercury (in Virgo) in D24 = very strong learning ability. When combined with 5th-9th lord Raja Yoga, it produces exceptional academic achievement.
Mercury Antardasha as guru-loss: In Vivekananda's D20 (class-82), Mercury Antardasha in Moon Mahadasha gave Ramakrishna's death (August 16, 1885). Mercury was the 3rd/4th lord from A9, placed in the 8th from A9 = functional malefic in the 8th from the Arudha of the guru's physical presence.
Parivartana with Lagna lord: Mercury exchanging with the 9th lord in D24 = Lakshmi Yoga for education. "Friendly Parivartana" when both Mercury and the 9th lord are in friendly signs relative to each other.
Jupiter (Guru)
As primary child Karaka: Jupiter's connections to the 5th house from Sun, Moon, and Lagna in D7 determine whether a Dasha can give a child. When Jupiter is exalted in any relevant house in D7, his 5th house connections are doubled by his inherent strength.
As guru Karaka: Exalted Jupiter in the 9th house of D20 (Antardasha) within a Moon Mahadasha (7th lord connecting to 9th) = guru enters the life. Vivekananda's Jupiter Antardasha within Moon Mahadasha in D20 (1878–1884) = meeting and training with Ramakrishna.
Jupiter as functional malefic: Jupiter as 8th/6th lord can be a functional malefic in some Lagnas, but as a natural benefic and Karaka for guru/wisdom, he retains some benefic qualities. "He's a functional malefic. But the thing is, he's a natural benefic and he's the Karaka for guru, and he's exalted in a Kendra giving Atma Mahapurusha Yoga — cannot be ignored."
Jupiter in D24 Prashna 5th lord: 5th lord Jupiter in D24 of Prashna aspecting Lagna = protecting learning potential. "Jupiter is protecting" even when other afflictions are present.
Venus (Shukra)
As Lagna/5th lord (native identity): Venus as Lagna lord or 5th lord has the primary dharma of native place and native identity. Even in the 12th house (abroad), Venus Antardasha will eventually bring the person back to their home country. Seen in NMK's D4 Venus Antardasha (class-85) — forced return to India.
Upadesha Raja Yoga: Venus as 8th lord in the 12th house = Upadesha Raja Yoga for political power through transformation. Romney D10: Venus in 12th (8th lord) + aspecting 5th lord Moon = power after suffering.
In D20 Yogakaraka: Yogakaraka Venus in Advitra Rashi (super-friendly sign) in D20 = spiritual practices bring material happiness as well. Not a contradiction — Venus Yogakaraka in D20 means spiritual life aligns with worldly identity.
Venus Ashtavarga priority: For marriage predictions in SKC Dasha, being benefic from Venus's reference in Ashtavarga is more important than having high total Sarvashtakavarga. "If somebody is looking for marriage, being benefic from Venus is more important than anything else."
Saturn (Shani)
Retrograde Saturn: Closer to Earth = more material, more intense. Retrograde Saturn's effects are more visible and more felt in the material world. Not inherently malefic just because retrograde — the house and sign still determine results.
Saturn in Moolatrikona (D27): Strong instinctive capacity for hard work and persistence. Saturn in Aquarius (Moolatrikona) in D27 = person is subconsciously driven to work hard and persevere.
Saturn in 11th house from Moon (Yogakaraka): When Yogakaraka Mars is in the 11th from Moon alongside Saturn (7th/6th lord), and Saturn aspects the 5th house, Saturn Antardasha within a favorable Mahadasha can give political recognition or career achievement. Saturn's connection to both the 5th (through aspect) and 11th (through presence) makes it a possible power-giving planet.
Saturn as 8th lord in D24 Prashna: When Saturn as 8th lord afflicts Jupiter in D24 Prashna, it shows complications in learning. "Jupiter afflicted by 8th lord Saturn" = potential but with significant obstacles.
Rahu
Benefic/malefic by association: Rahu's functional nature is determined by the planet closest to him. Rahu near Mars (within a few degrees) = Rahu acts like benefic Mars. Rahu with Saturn and Mars (Romney's D10, class-87): Rahu is closer to Mars (3° separation vs. 14° to Saturn) = behaves like Mars = somewhat benefic.
Rahu in SKC weakens the sign: Per Parashara, Rahu in any of the three progressed signs (Lagna, Moon, Sun progress signs) in the Dasha Pravesh Chakra makes that sign weak for the year. "But you have to take it with a pinch of salt. It depends on how bad Rahu is in that chart."
Rahu in 9th from Moon (Moolatrikona): Rahu's Moolatrikona is sometimes identified as Virgo. In D7, when Rahu is in the 9th house from Moon in the D7 chart, he's actually in a potentially strong placement (9th from Moon = benefic direction for Rahu). The transit-benefic status from Moon reference = benefic.
Ketu
Ketu's nature from placement and company: "Ketu's nature is decided by where he is and who he is with." In the 5th house (Pranay's natal D24): a benefic position for Ketu generally. Ketu with Sun and Mars: gains Mars and Sun qualities. In an enemy's sign with enemy planets, Ketu becomes malefic.
Ketu in the 11th from Arudha: This is the strongest possible placement for a planet to promote an Arudha. Ketu as lord of A5 (Scorpio) placed near the cusp of the 11th house from A5 and AL in Vivekananda's D10 = world fame during his Shodashottari Ketu Mahadasha.
Ketu and Pitra Karaka: Ketu conjunct Sun in D12 weakens the Pitra Karaka (Sun). Father connection is weakened or severed.
Ketu in Sarpa Drekkana vs. Sarpa Nakshatra: Ketu in Ashlesha is particularly intense — it combines Ketu's moksha/separation qualities with Sarpa (serpent) energy. Such Ketu placements in the natal chart (especially if Ketu is also the 4th lord or another significator of the mind's learning environment) can create educational obstacles in early childhood.
