The 12th lord's agenda: losses, expenditure, humility, giving up bodily pleasure for others, spiritual renunciation, mokṣa. Wherever this planet is placed, it introduces those themes into that house's domain.

Verse 133 — 12th Lord in Lagna (1st House)

Sanskrit kernel: Vyayeśe lagna bhāva sthe vyayī durbalo naraḥ; kapha rogī ca nirdhanyo vidyā hīnaś ca jāyate

[!NOTE] These are general tendencies, not absolute outcomes. The actual planet occupying Lagna matters: a strong Saturn as 12th lord in Lagna behaves very differently from a weak Moon.

Verse 134 — 12th Lord in 2nd House

Sanskrit kernel: Vyayeśe dhana bhāva sthe śubhakārye vyayaḥ sadā; dhārmikaḥ tu priyavādī ca guṇasaukhyasamanvitaḥ

[!TIP] The teacher makes an important nuance: śubhakārya (good deeds) here can mean dharmic expenditure (temple building, charity) OR wise investment that yields returns. Both are valid readings because from the 2nd house (wealth), the 11th lord (gains) is in Lagna — a very growth-conducive placement.

Verse 135 — 12th Lord in 3rd House

Sanskrit kernel: Bhrātṛ sukha vivarjitaḥ; paradveṣī; svadeha puṣṭikaraḥ

[!NOTE] The teacher clarifies: svadeha puṣṭikara doesn't always mean selfish in a pejorative sense. Because 12th lord in 3rd gives Argalā on Lagna (not 12th house), it actually grows Lagna, which can manifest as self-care rather than others-care. The result can also be partial Viparīta Rāja Yoga — sudden initiative after prolonged wavering.

Verse 136 — 12th Lord in 4th House

Sanskrit kernel: Mātṛ sukha vivarjitaḥ; bhūmi vāhana gṛha kṣayaḥ

[!NOTE] The most straightforward verse in this sequence — the 12th lord's loss agenda directly damages 4th house significations.

Verse 137 — 12th Lord in 5th House

Sanskrit kernel: Putra vidyā vivarjitaḥ; suta vyayī; tīrthāsakta paraḥ

[!NOTE] Teacher corrects Santanam's translation which combined "spending on children" with "visiting shrines to beget a son" — these are in different vibhaktis (grammatical cases) in Sanskrit and cannot be merged. The verse says: (a) spends money on account of children, AND separately, (b) is interested in tīrtha pilgrimages.

Verse 138 — 12th Lord in 6th House

Sanskrit kernel: Svajana vaira kṛt; krodhī; pāpī; dukhī; paradāra ratī

[!IMPORTANT] The teacher cautions against blindly applying these results. From 9th house, this placement is excellent (some planetary combinations). From 10th house, it is also good. With a strong 9th–10th lord connection, the 12th lord in 6th can indicate a dharmic fighter rather than a sinner. "Take it with a pinch of salt."

[!IMPORTANT] D-16 (Ṣoḍaśāṃśa / Kalāṃśa) represents the phases of the mind (16 kalās of Moon). This is the chart for mental happiness/unhappiness, not just vehicles.

D-16 Kanyā (Virgo) Lagna:

From Candra Lagna in D-16:

• Saturn in 2nd from Moon → food/nourishment of mind cut off
• Mercury in that house → same Dur Yoga repeats: Lagna lord with 6th lord from Candra Lagna as well as from Lagna
• Double confirmation: internal struggle, cannot express it

D-30 Triṃśāṃśa: Saturn and Mercury are in bad positions → the mental instability can even manifest as physical illness (subconscious roots of disease)

Message to parents: "She is a dharmic and spiritual person (Ketu in 12th, Lagna lord in 9th). She will do fine in life. Do not be overly critical. She is going through a critical phase — be kind and gentle."

🌑 Eclipse Follow-Up {#eclipse-followup}

A student asked about the August 5, 2009 lunar eclipse (which followed the July 22 solar eclipse):

• The eclipse occurred near the end of Pūrṇimā / beginning of Kṛṣṇa Pratipada — Moon was actually at its fullest around 9:30 PM, coinciding with the grahana (eclipse shadow). This is astronomically consistent.
• Eclipses need not happen on exact Pūrṇimā — it depends on the precise longitudinal and latitudinal alignment of Sun, Moon, Rāhu/Ketu.
• Teacher's update: "So far nothing terrible has happened [as of class date], but this is not a pleasant set of eclipses. The solar eclipse of July 22 can trigger major events in the world over the next three to four months. It doesn't have to happen the next day."

[!NOTE] This was a partial lunar eclipse, not total — so deviation from exact Pūrṇimā moment is expected and acceptable.
